Best Steak Tartare in Manhattan???

Minetta Tavern has an excellent tartare trio appetizer. Beef, lamb, and veal maybe? Very tasty and surprisingly not overpriced.

Budget-Friendly Steak Recs?

Second the Azul recommendation. Excellent food for the price, in a fun atmosphere.

Soft Shell Crab on the Menu

Great softshell crab at 10 Downing just last weekend. Though I can't remember the dish description exactly, it was simple and excellent. Boyfriend and I shared, and contemplated ordering another round; it was that good. He also thought the breading tasted like the Colonel's special recipe - I beg to differ, it was much lighter - but hey, you never know where the inspiration comes from...

Visiting SF from NYC: Date Night?

Hi there - my boyfriend and I will be visiting SF for a week to see friends and family. While I'm sure they'll have loads of suggestions, we plan to abscond one night for dinner for two. I'd like to have some ideas in my back pocket before we go! What's new and hip? We typically enjoy places with a local, organic focus and excellently curated beer and wine lists. We're also suckers for a place with a righteous playlist (though not too too loud). A perfectly cold martini would be the icing on the cake. Location not super important, though we'll be staying in Pac Heights, and price range think $20 entrees.

Bistro Les Amis

Try Shortys.32 - it's on Prince between MacDougal and Sullivan, about as close as Les Amis would be. The food is super (try the artichoke soup and the chicken!) and they play great tunes to get you in the mood for your jazz outing.

Oatmeal in SoHo

Try Local, on Sullivan St between Prince and Houston. It's a small cafe with great baked goods and coffee and they have super oatmeal. Warning: it's a very laid back, neighborhood place, ie it may take a while. But it's worth it!

Quinoa lover

Shorty's 32 in Soho has a great quinoa side - not to mention great short ribs, mac and cheese, and excellent taste in music.
