Gourmet Cupcakes?

Do you get them by having her deliver or do you pick up?

Gourmet Cupcakes?

I like their icing so I'm going with "no". It's more sweet and not as smooth-buttery.

Where is Baked Goods opening at Yonge & Eg?

Best cupcakes in T.O.?

Haven't been to YS in a long time but the icing was never hard like candy when I was there. It was never smooth per se but it was always soft and firm.

Best cupcakes in T.O.?

It really does depend on which of the two "schools" of icing one fits into! I am a sweet-like-fudge icing person. If it's too smooth, I want to use it to butter my bread!

Lunch / Take-out near Eaton Centre...anything worth having?

Is this the Ritz on Yonge St? Nearest cross street?

Best White Chocolate Mousse cake? Anything better than Dufflets?

I've tried a number of places that supposedly have white chocolate mousse but it rarely has that white chocolate flavour. Stubbe has some nice white chocolate ganache in some of their cakes but they don't do a WCM....

Baker Street good?

best breakfast joint in Toronto?

What do you like there?

Lunch / Take-out near Eaton Centre...anything worth having?

I eat one of their salads twice a week and there are so many options for the 6 add-ins and the salad dressings, it's easy to keep it (no pun intended) fresh!

Best Cupcakes in Toronto?

Thanks; if I'm nearby, I'll call to see if they have some...

Best Cupcakes in Toronto?

I've had a few very good chocolate cake with vanilla icing cupcakes at Pusateri's (though it was a couple years ago). It was very prettily decorated vanilla icing and they had the name of the bakery on a card in the cooler case; I tried to track them down (maybe they were called "Baker Street"??) but gave up (I think because they didn't have a place to go buy them---just distributed to places like Pusateri's).

Pusateri's should have a sign to indicate who baked them (or you could ask next time when you see them).

best salads in Toronto- 2012

Hallum salad at Tabule is always very nice---lovely lemony flavour with some other citrus on arugula with that lovely cheese.

I've posted on another thread: Urban Herbivore's salads (in Urban Eatery in the Eatons Centre) is very good most of the time. The toppings are nicely seasoned (a little cumin in that lentil...) and the dressings are fresh and fruity (like mango cilantro).

Diana's Seafood opening restaurant

Always a thought---though I'm more into the cooked oysters (which I don't think they have, do they?).

Diana's Seafood opening restaurant

I'd really enjoy the seafood I was given if it came with 1/4 of that oil. My selections were unwise for sure but I always get turned off by that kind of preparation and unless I know I could escape it next time in a main, I wouldn't go back. Quite a few places that I've otherwise liked for quality and flavours and such have not gotten repeat visits for that same reason. It's a deal breaker for me.

Diana's Seafood opening restaurant

Good advice. I'm not sure if they offered what I was looking for in grilled format!

Desserts/Sweets in The Annex

After trying one of the amaretto torts (chocolate almond cake soaked in amaretto and filled with white chocolate ganache, covered in dark chocolate ganache) recently, I am reminded of how good some of these cakes are. Intense flavours of white chocolate and nice amaretto and almond backdrop. Very satisfying.

Sorento Cafe and Restaurant on Don Mills--anyone been?

I've been by there near dinner on the weekend and it seems busy but I can't find much word about menu, experiences out there.

Diana's Seafood opening restaurant

I was there a couple weeks ago and had the seafood platter (the mix of shrimp, scallops and salmon---might have been called something else). While the quality of the food was very good and perfectly cooked, I didn't like how oily the base of the plate was---and the veg, covered in oil or butter. Probably made it worse that we had split the batter-fried calamari and clam chowder. Too much fatty stuff made us feel sick after. A pity too since clearly the quality of the fish & seafood is otherwise very good.

Lunch / Take-out near Eaton Centre...anything worth having?

Love sweet potato but not big on dates. I've never tried that muffin but maybe I should at least taste them... I liked the cranberry apple muffin (until I OD-ed on them).

Incidentally, they have several new salad dressing flavours, including mango cilantro---very tasty!

I also enjoy the salads from Urban Herbavore (though my enjoyment increases with the right person adding in the topics--since some are more generous with your add-ins than others). Marinated mushrooms, avocado, artichoke and nicely seasoned lentils are a few of my faves. And adding a little tiny bit of hot sauce to the citrus dressing with some nuts and seeds----nice meal.

Anyone know of non-dairy/non-egg (vegan) easter chocolates in Toronto?

Thanks, I relay that one. But it looks like cookies and cupcakes rather than chocolates?

Anyone know of non-dairy/non-egg (vegan) easter chocolates in Toronto?

A friend has a son who is allergic and she orders from out of province. And I'm always surprised how many dark chocolate eggs have milk.

King and Dufferin on Sunday around noon---lunch or dessert/bakery ideas?

I did the quick search and saw Island Foods pops but pretty sure they close on Sunday. Any other locations worth taking in since I'm rarely in that part of the city?

ISO organic grapes...hopeless this time of year?

Found some nice (and yes, expensive) ones at Loblaws last weekend (the St Clair/Bathurst one). $7/lb but good.

ISO organic grapes...hopeless this time of year?

I'm frustrated too. Summerhill Market, Wholefoods, Loblaws---nada. I bought some at SM because they said they were US-grown which I've read means not so many pesticides. But I'd really prefer organic!

Kale - Vegan, Organic at Yonge an Eglington

I love Fresh. It's not the same format at Kale (i.e. you order from the menu). But it's good and... well, fresh! And Commensal isn't bad.

HELP! trying not to travel too far for cage-free eggs..impossible dream?

Me also! I don't mind paying a premium either. A member of the Toronto Vegetarian Association once suggested I get my own chicken (as a pet) who could produce eggs for me since then no harm no... foul.

Mabel's Bakery--triple chocolate brownies--anyone tried these?

With a friend? Welll.... I'll take that under advisement!

Thanks, definitely sounds like a place I will visit...

Mabel's Bakery--triple chocolate brownies--anyone tried these?

I saw a picture in Star Week and they looked quite lovely. You can't always tell a brownie by the looks but this one looked wonderful.
