Philly Food Lovers recommend anything in NYC?

where are you staying in NYC? If your staying south of Penn Station, I recommend the rooftop micro brew at Eataly (great views of ESB). Po in WV for dinner - nice pastas - pretty trendy. Originally owned by Mario Batali. If you can get a reservation, it sounds like Dell'Anima, L'Artusi (both in WV) or Scarpetta (MPD) are right up your alley. Check the Manhattan boards for brunch spots, it's a popular topic! :) Enjoy your trip!

Uncle B's BBQ in Phoenixville

I ate at Fenice Creolo a few weeks ago and had a special with pulled pork in it. The pulled pork was tasty and, I believe, it came from Uncle B's in the parking lot. I wasn't aware they did take out, might have to check it out this weekend!

Boddington's on tap in Montgomery County or Chester County?

What does Craft Ale House in Limerick have on tap nowadays? I believe they always have something hand pumped.

Restaurant on the way to Lancaster?

Limoncello in Chester Springs sounds about half way. This is a second location of the crazy-popular original in West Chester. Although it says Chester Springs, it's about 3 minutes for the Downingtown TP exit on Rt 100. Your Lancaster friend could take the turnpike or come down Rt 23 to Rt 401 to Rt. 100.

Han Dynasty in Royersford no longer affiliated with -the- Han Dynasty?

We ordered the Dan Dan Noodles which were great, but to be fair, it was my first time ordering them. I usually order Dumpling/Wontons in Chili Oil but wanted to try something different. I did order my usual Chicken with Hot Peppers which was perfectly cooked and not overly spiced. Sometimes it feels like they are trying to burn my face off!! My husband ordered the Beef Noodle Soup Sichuan Style based on Han's recommendation. It was great, very spicy and full of beef. My husband had the Fish in Dry Pot, which he always gets. The fish was super fresh and cooked perfectly. We had a ton of food to take home, my husband has a feast for lunch on Saturday!

Han Dynasty in Royersford no longer affiliated with -the- Han Dynasty?

I had dinner at the Royersford location on Friday night and Han was there. In his usual style - he was running all over the place - taking orders, directing the staff, seating tables. My husband and I had a chance to talk to him and he said that he is back in Royersford for a few weeks to work through their issues. Apparently, he's had a ton of complaints about the food and service at the Royersford location so he got rid of most of the staff and is working to train the new employees.

The food was spot on but there are service issues that hopefully will be addressed. The restaurant was very crowded at 8pm on Friday night and the staff was a little disorganized. The restaurant seemed under-staffed.

On the way out, I spoke with an employee behind the host desk and he mentioned that Han brought him down from the NYC location for a month or two to help manage the Royersford location.

Bottom line - the Royersford location is still part of the Han Dynasty "chain". If you hurry, you can catch Han in "action" in the burbs!

Creed's, Ruth's Chris, or Mortons KOP???

Are you set on the KOP area? If you're coming down from Reading, you could always try Seven Stars Inn in Phoenixville. Great steaks and seafood in a historic building. Ask for a table for two by one of the fireplaces.

Dinner for 6 on October 19th - Is it too late to get a good table?

I called the following places with no luck, after seeing they were unavailable on Open Table: Dell'Anima, Maialino, Lupa & Locanda Verde. Osteria Morini was able to move some things around a get us a table at 9pm. Also, got an 8:30 table at Po. Now, I'm trying to decide between Po or Osteria Morini!

I am searching Open Table - Osteria Morini is only available at 5:45. That's a little early for us. Thanks for the tip on Stella 34. Might be a good idea for my November shopping trip with my Mom and sister!

Dinner for 6 on October 19th - Is it too late to get a good table?

Traveling from Philly to NYC for the weekend. Staying with friends in Chelsea. I have a back up 8pm reservation at Sparks but I'd like some other options. Sparks seems a little "safe" and I can get a good steak in Philly. I'd rather have a memorable, unique to NYC type of meal. I've called around and a lot of places are booked already. I'm looking for something along the lines of Dell'Anima (completely booked), Maialino (booked), Osteria Morini (booked). Recently, had a great meal at Da Andrea. Leaning towards Italian but open to American, French or Japanese. Prefer to eat in Chelsea, EV, WV, GV, MPD. $75 per person including 2 drinks, tax and tip (we aren't the three course meal type. A few starters for the table, two drinks, pasta or entrée, usually no dessert) Thanks in advance for your help!

Drive-worthy Farmer's Markets?

Are you referring to the Artisan Food & Farmers Market on Saturdays in West Chester or is this another market on Saturday mornings? The Artisan Market is very nice - lots of gourmet treats and Amish produce and baked goods. Also, flowers, bath products and candles. There were free waffles and a Korean BBQ food truck last weekend!

Are there any "must haves" at Vetri?

If you don't mind sharing, what was your final price per person? Do you feel that you got a value for your money? I'm considering Vetri for my anniversary but I read a review on Yelp that someone spent $700 for two people! I want to know what I'm getting into before I make a reservation! BTW - your pictures are great! Happy b-day!

Best wings in Philly?

I've never been but isn't the Jug Handle Inn in Cinnaminson supposed to have the best wings around? I remember it being on a Food Network special a few years ago.

Anniversary dinner--Birchrunville, Henry's, or Funky Lil Kitchen--or other

I really like Henry's Café and I think it's a great place to celebrate an anniversary. Frank's seafood dishes are the best around.

Have you considered Majolica or Becca's in Phoenixville?

I also enjoy the Kimberton Inn special occasions -- while the food is not adventurous, the atmosphere and service are top notch.

Wine Tasting in Brandywine

While not in Brandywine - Tastings and Tours can provide exactly what you are looking for. I've done the Bucks County tour and it was a great time. They handle a ton of bachlorette parties. You can choose from Bucks County, Lehigh Valley and Cape May.

Saturday Brunch/Lunch Near 29th & Park

Thank you all for your suggestions! I am leaning towards Les Halles specifically for its location to the Gansevoort.

@Scott_C - I love Artisanal. Their fondue on a cold winter night is heaven on earth!!

Saturday Brunch/Lunch Near 29th & Park

I wondered, after I posted this, if I was being to restrictive with the price point and reservation policy. Would it be better if I was open to a place that doesn't take reservations?

Thanks for your suggestions - you are always so helpful!

I've been to Birreria for drinks before - that may be a good option!

Saturday Brunch/Lunch Near 29th & Park

I am traveling with a group of 12-14 friends from Philly to attend a wedding in June (all adults, no kids!). We will take the train and arrive at Penn Station around 12:30 on Saturday.

I would like to plan a casual, sit-down, affordable brunch/lunch to start the festivities. We are staying at the Gansevoort at 29th & Park and prefer to eat within walking distance from the hotel. Some travelers have a limited budget, so entrees under $20 would be great.

No sushi or Indian food, please. Any place with a trendy, NYC vibe would be a plus! Must take reservations.

Dinner tomorrow in Phoenixville

I recently ate at Daddy Mims, which now located in the Columbia Hotel, with a group of 10 people. Everyone was thrilled with their meal. I did the Chef's Tasting, 4 courses for $35. Start to finish, it was wonderful! They have a full bar now but you can still BYO wine. A table for two by the fireplace looked very cozy!

Locanda Verde or Osteria Morini?

Last time I was in NYC, we went to Otto. While it was great, I was looking for something different. I found the pasta a little boring although the antipasta was heavenly. I was leaning more towards an Emiglia Romagna type restaurant since my husband loves a good steak.

But I am excited to try Scarpetta, the menu looks great!

Locanda Verde or Osteria Morini?

LV is booked...only one table available on 10/27 and it's at 10:30pm. I'm kind of surprised but I guess it's that good!

With that said, I got a table at Scarpetta for 10/27. Scarpetta is not stuffy, right? Some of the pictures of patrons and their website looks a little "up tight".

Locanda Verde or Osteria Morini?

I dont get to dine out much in Philly, it's not easy to get in and out of the city from where I live. The menu and images of Scarpetta look perfect.

While looking at Scarepetta, I came across L'artusi which has very high marks on Yelp. Is that worth considering?

Locanda Verde or Osteria Morini?

My husband and I are visiting some friends in NYC the last weekend in October. We're looking for a nice italian restaurant on Saturday night for the 4 of us. I feel like I've narrowed it down to two places, Locanda Verde or Osteria Morini. Which would you pick? Cost is not an concern, more looking for delicious food, great atmosphere (modern & trendy but not full of hipsters!) and a nice wine list. We're in our mid-30s.

Of those two, are there any other places I should consider? We originally were going to try Malatesta but LV and OM look more "special". We're staying in Chelsea and would prefer to eat downtown since we'll be going out after dinner.

Thanks in advance!

hot, heavy, maryland crabs anywhere in the phila. metro area??

I'm not completely sure what the relationship is between Hadfields and Fat Boys. I think, Fat Boys has taken over the Hadfield's location. It is not a seperate restaurant within Hadfields.

Fat Boys Crabs on Rt 202 on the PA/DE line. Exactly what you're looking for. I could only find a FB page for them but their contact info is listed. They have multiple locations, you may want to call the number listed to get the details on the 202 location.

What are the must tries at Han Dynasty?

+1 for three cup chicken(boneless) (one cup sesame oil, one cup rice wine vinegar and one cup soy sauce) and dumplings in Chili Oil
I also like the double fried beef and the chicken with hot peppers. Both are very spicy. The wontons in chicken broth is also great!
Enjoy!
