Ripples ice cream (Montreal, Plateau)
Ripples is an old school ice cream parlor and still makes the best Green Tea Ice Cream in town.As far as soft -serve I had a Maple soft serve that rocked my world at Kem Coba as far as Gelato Kem Coba rules in that category as well. I recently had a cup of half soursop half mango that was memorable. The Owner is passionate about his work and it shows with his inventive delicious product.
Eastern Townships
I would suggest Auguste in Sherbrooke certainly one of the best restaurants in the Eastern Townships.
Table of Hope Tonight May 22 2012
This is the biggest foodie event of the year, all the best Montreal Chefs serving up their best dishes to help fight Childhood Hunger.Restaurants attending are Beaver Club,Moishes,L'orchidee de Chine,RibnReef,Bilboquet and 40 more.I love it every year and to eat and drink like this and get a Tax Receipt is the best.See you there.
Where can i buy guanabana or soursop in Montreal?
I cannot speak for other producing countries but in Jamaica it is from June to October.
Where can i buy guanabana or soursop in Montreal?
Shavit's on Victoria St has Soursop fresh during the season and in cans(not so good)most of the time.If you love soursop try the Soursop gelato at KemCoBa on Fairmount out of this world good!!!
50th birthday party (Italian style)
Have you thought about Tre Maria on the cheaper side,a little more expensive is Primo e Secundo or last but not least my favorite Da Emma. All are great home cooking and the more it costs the better it gets.Have a great party!
Best Moroccan in MTL?
There is a new addition to Moroccan Restaurants in Montreal and that is "Le Petit Moroc" on Garnier in the Plateau. It is set up living room style and seats maybe 12-14 people tops. The Owner stresses how he wants to make you feel like your at home and you do!
They usually have two Tangines and a Couscous all done to perfection. The Harira soup for starters is the best I have ever had(better to mention you want the soup when you reserve as it sometimes sells out before 7pm)rich and flavorful. The Couscous is served in single portion style and built up on the plate like a pyramid. The grain itself was excellent as they pour the juice from the vegetables through the Couscous three times and fluff the Couscous by hand the old fashioned way.My friend had the Chicken Tangine with confit de citron zest that gave it a nice pike. For desert we had a Moroccan Crepe drizzled with honey .
This is a great place and with its size you and ten other friends could own the restaurant.Great for Birthday parties and the like.I am already set to go back next week.
Cooking Fries in Tallow [split from Quebec]
Thanks, I thought that you might add Tallo to your frying oil.Now I have an idea how much to order.
Cooking Fries in Tallow [split from Quebec]

I was told the secret at Frit Alors was the tallow/fat so now I am excited that I have put the other piece of the puzzle together. But how much fat would we put in for a table of four?
Les Moulins de Soulanges Flour
Which store do you refer to?A PM store on Jean Talon?
Pizza with REAL mozzarella?
Agostini's on Somerled have been making great Pizza the right way for 30 years using real mozza and quailty products. Its a family style restaurant and Matron/Owner Maria will always make you feel at home.
Restaurant suggestions near Trudeau airport?
Le Gourmand is a desperate choice. The prices are through the roof(priced like Chasse et Peche but with no real cooking acumen to back up the price. The food is basic last time I was there I had a small piece of Cod on a mound of Mashed Patatoes with a few veggies for well over $30.The wine list is overpriced and not innovative at all.The serve staff is surely and not helpful in the least.I would go to the Marriott before stepping a foot in Le Gourmand again.
Take out sushi in NDG/Wsmt, centre
How about Park on Victoria in Westmount.Very fresh and creative Sushi,Sashimi and Maxi.Restaurant owned by Antonio Park ex Kaizen.
Passion Fruit Puree

Wheat can I buy wheat grass?
Pousse Menu is the main grower of Wheat Grass in Montreal. You can call Philippe in the mornings at 514-486-2345.
Sunchokes or Jerusalem artichokes
In Quebec they are called Topinambour and the season here is October. But I am sure you can find some at Chez Louis at JTM. Call first to be sure.
What's so great about Schwartz's?
Could have been a "lean" smoked meat. They normally have less taste.
Where to find Sambal Bajak?
Boucherie Atlantique carries both Bajak and Oelek by Conimex.
Butchers that sell ground chicken and/or lamb at good price? (And also need a place to buy jamaican jerk seasoning)
WalkersWood Jerk seasoning is found at Epicerie Shavits on Victoria St (west side) 2 blocks below Van Horne. A great little store for everything Caribbean.Including Flying Fish !
If I say RUE VICTORIA (between Jean-talon and Ste-Catherine) in Montreal
The one good choice is the longstanding Vietnamese resto Hoai Hoang. Good Ban Xao, BirdsNest, Roll your own rice pancakes on the weekends. The Pho is not up to Cote des Neiges standards.
Artisanal Bacon in Montreal
Boucherie de Tours in Atwater Market buys their Bacon from Boucherie Viau in Hemmingford who due to a grandfather clause is one of only two Butchers in Quebec licenced to sell from an Apple fired open pit. He has two varieties light and heavy smoked. Tours buys the light smoked but will order the other.
SIMPLE THINGS DONE WELL
Tortellini in Brodo and the Suckling Pig at DaEmma 's both very special.
New Thread on JTM and Atwater
Depending where you come from you might find Sicilian Blood Oranges different and delicious. They are available at the Fruit stands on the South hand side of the Market.
Chez Gautier: yea or nay?
Has not been good for at least a decade. The waitstaff has been there since day 1 and look after the regular over 80 crowd. They simply tolerate the unknown diners. It used to be one of my go to spots in the day.
Montreal -Where can i find pure coconut water without any sugar at a good price?
ID Foods is the distributor of Grace Coconut Water from Jamaica they have a Company Store next to their offices in Laval. An interesting place as they have some great clients like Maille, Lu, Tom's Flour and Oats ect ect Never regretted the drive up.
Staying at St. Catherine and Fort, where to go?
If you are not interested in Asian food you cut out alot of the great Restaurants in your area.If you would like to invest $7.00 on a taxi try Joe Beef one of Montreal's best "neighborhood" Restaurants areservation would be needed .In the same area you can look into Bergundy Lion a fun Gastropub. Le Fumoir a BBQ Smokehouse, Resto.Griffentown Cafe maybe for your Sunday Brunch . If you are here in April or later for lunch you might want to try Grumman 78,s new retail outlet in Les Faubourg Ste Catherine for innovative Tacos C/O St Matthieu / Ste Cath. The Metro to St Laurent is about a 15 min run and brings you close to all the spots you mentioned with the help of the 55 bus
