Are Spread bagels all that?

Hounds,
I was in Manhattan last weekend and had the best bagel I've ever had from a shop called Essa Bagel. It was everything a bagel should be - a little crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside and hot out of the oven, so no toasting was necessary. Add to that it was HUGE, about the diameter of a saucer

How are the bagels at Spread? Can anyone weigh in on how they stack up?

Thanks.

Your Go-To Pancake Spot

Help me out with where to find the best pancakes in town. I'm a big fan of thick and spongy discs that soak up syrup by the quart. Thanks!

Maryland style crab in greater Philadelphia area

Never been to Kathy's, but I've heard good things. I think it's only been Kathy's a few years. It used to be called Wisowaty's. Wisowaty I think was a crabber/waterman that also owned the restaurant. I think he still my supply crabs in season. The other place in Delaware City is Crabby Dicks, which you would think given the name would have good crabs. I'm not sure. I think they get a lot of biker traffic due to the deck in the summer.
No traffic worries in Delaware City. I'm sure you've mapquested it, but you come South on I-95 to DE Rt 1 to DE Rt 9 into Delaware city. Kathy's sits at the base of the Reedy Point bridge.

Traffic is a legit concern. The ride down is usually smooth sailing, but can be unpredictable when coming North, especially around the toll plaza entering Delaware. I'm including another link for a place near Kennett Square that I've heard good things about. It's called the Hilltop Crab House. You may also want to scout around Charleston, which is between Elkton and Baltimore on Rt 40.

I agree, you're so close to Baltimore, why not go there? These reviews may help.

Bagel Recommendations in Center City

I'll be running the Philly Marathon on Sunday and I've been keeping a clean diet for the last month or so. After the race I want to celebrate with, among other things, a great bagel with cream cheese.

Can anyone point me towards a good bagel shop within walking distance of the Art Museum?

Thanks for all your help.

Beer Garden in Philly

Barry, thanks for the reply. I'm a beer geek, so I'm looking for a good craft brew lineup and a place when I can sit outside where there are some folks around. I like the opportunity to get into a random conversation. I'm from Delaware and head to Philly quite a bit because I can get a beer selection that Delaware doesn't have and I like getting to know new parts of the city.

Cheers!

Beer Garden in Philly

Can anyone point me to a beer garden in Philly? I had read in an article or on a post that Staven Starr was planning on opening one, but I haven't heard anything since.

If not a beer garden, how about a nice open air spot to enjoy a couple brews on a hot afternoon?

Thanks for your help.

Help getting to Brauhaus Schmitz on South Street

I was really looking forward to trying Brauhaus Schmitz on South Street last Sunday evening. Alas, after driving around for 30 minutes or so looking for parking, I gave up and headed home.

Can anyone tell me what that parking options are in this part of town? Brauhaus Schmitz is located on the 700 block of South Street. I don't have any problems walking several blocks if that's what it takes.

Thanks for your help.

Lexington Mkt Bmore?

I like to visit this type of market and with Lexington I was underwhelmed. Might be OK to stop by if you're in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't make a special trip.

You may want to give Belvedere Square Market at look. Much more panache than Lexington

So, where can I find the best Hummus in Philly?

Only in Manhatten for the day - Good Beer Bar?

I'll be in Manhatten, arriving at Penn Station this weekend. I'll be on foot and wanted to find a good beer bar within walking distance. I'd like to drink the local stuff, but any good lineup of quality craft brews would be fine.

Thanks for the sage advice.

Need advice on beer in Brooklyn

I'm taking a weekend trip to NYC in early September. I'm passionate about micro and
craft-brewed beer. I also enjoy Belgian beer. From my research, it appears that there are a number of good beer bars in Brooklyn. I'd like to hit a few, but was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations on which ones have the best selection. I don't know the geography, but it would be nice if they were close enough to hit several in an afternoon.

Any help you can give me is appreciated. Thanks!

Cheese in Wilmington Delaware

Does anyone know of a good cheese baord in Wilmington Delaware or nearby Chester County PA. I've found a couple at Domaine Hudson and The Blue Pear, but they are both closed on Sunday, which is when I will be dining.

Does anyone know of a place open on Sunday the offers a good chees board?
