What floats my boat? Atmosphere, low lights and candles...Water, music, great food and great service.....Did I miss something? And great company.

Anybody have an opinion of the most romantic restaurant in Sydney?

It's been twenty years since I have been to Sydney. What's the most romantic restaurant there now?

Salsas, Nachos, Tacos & Tapas - Sante Fe

The food of Sante Fe - the magical city of the Southwest...A destination for writers, chefs, artists and tourists. What is your favorite food from the Southwest and what do you love about it there?

I love the architecture and the exotic food and spices, the artist and the carfts. It is a place I could spend a few years in exploring and deepening my senses to beauty. Right about now I could order some grilled swordfish tacos whipped up by Chef Mark Kiffin. How about you?

Growing Up Greek

Excellent post, thank you for sharing with us!!!!!!
Enjoy your trip to Greece!

What's on your shopping list?

That is amazing! You actually found pictures of the store! Marvellous!!! i must go there when down in South Beach!!!!

Sweets for my sweet

One of my favorite places in toronto is The Sweet Gallery for desserts. They have wonderful coffee there, always fresh and the best assortment of European desserts like sacher torte cakes, apple strudel and black forest cake. If you have not yet been there it is a worthwhile pit stop.......You might even run into Radi and Lydia, the owners of the place....

I also enjoy The Open Window Bakery on Bloor Street West and Pastry Villa in Streetsville. If you know of any other good "sweet" places let me know...I might be around sometime soon.

Growing Up Greek

Sounds like you have had lots of experience with Greek cooking. Bravo for you!!!!!

Growing Up Greek

Can couples actually go to food counselling?

51 Wonderful flavors......

That makes sense!!!

What's on your shopping list?

That bread sounds good. I know what you mean about impulse buying, its always fun to sneak in a few extra goodies there. It would be nice if Publix went a bit more upscale "gourmet" with some items, its pretty basic stuff they offer.

I hear you about the stress releiver part, its very relaxing to shop.

What's on your shopping list?

A trip to Publix is never comlete without my shopping list. This way, rather than buying on impulse I shop for the must have items for the week. Most often times my list includes white mountain bread, Vigo Greek peppers, chicken dumpling soup and pecan granola bars...What's on your shopping list?

Growing Up Greek

51 Wonderful flavors......

You know, Nosh, I am not sure...I thought it was 51 flavors...Oh boy! Somebody call Baskin robbins to clarify!!!!!

51 Wonderful flavors......

Mmmmn...sounds good!

51 Wonderful flavors......

My all-time favorite Baskin Robbins ice cream was jamoca almond fudge. It was a tough decision, picking out which flavor to get in your sugar cone or cup, but that was my fave.

Which flavor did you favor?

Growing Up Greek

Dear Peter,

No, I have not been to Greece lately and am sure it is very sophisticated there now...I am also lamenting on lost youth and the memories of growing up Greek......Nice of you to write!!!!!!

Here is a recipe for some Greek cookies that I love:

Kourambiethes is a wonderful powder sugar-covered Greek cookie.

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups unsalted butter
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 egg yolk
1 jigger of Brandy
4-1/2 cups (apprx.) flour
whole cloves (optional)
powdered sugar
PREPARATION:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and Brandy. Gradually only add enough flour to make a soft dough. Chill. Shape dough into crescents or 1-1/2 inch balls. (If using cloves, place one in each cookie before baking.) Place on ungreased sheets.
Sugar Cookies

A Cookie for your Heart
Bake for 12-15 minutes. They won't be brown. Cool for 4 to 5 minutes and then sift powdered sugar over them.
Thanks to Lila for contributing her recipe. She says that "for Easter I put them in pastel cupcake papers. You can substitute orange juice for brandy. If there is no brandy around rye whiskey will do."

Growing Up Greek

Good to hear from you MADGREEK, I enjoy Greek food and all that comes with it, generous hospitality, warm hugs, kisses on both cheeks and of course, breaking plates.

Does anybody know of any good Yugoslavian restaurants in Toronto?

Found a recipe: Check it out!

Could your recipe search be for CEVAPI? I found the following Bosnian CEVAPI recipe on another recipe site. I hope this helps.....

Cevapi
(Serves 6 to 8)

1 pound lean ground veal
1 pound ground beef
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 Tb salt
3 Tb chopped fresh parsley
1 tsp ground garlic or 1 tsp garlic powder

Mix ingredients thoroughly. Dip finger in cold, salted water and shape tablespoon or more of meat mixture into finger length shapes like small sausage links. Place meat on fine wire grill over hot coals, turning once. Or broil in oven about 10 min. until lightly browned. Serve on bed of salad, chopped onions or pita.

Cevapi are often threaded on skewers but clearly it's not necessary (and you avoid the hassle of having to soak wooden skewers to keep them from burning).
