Bar Isabel - Must Tries?

I personally didn't like either of the dishes with Morcilla. Loved he peppers, " stinky " cheese flatbread, octopus, fried chicken, and tongue sandwich... tated like awesome pastrami.

Need help...there used to be an awesome diner on the East side of Bathurst,..north of Glencairn..it was in a 3-store strip-mall set back form Bathurst. It was there for decades and then closed and was replaced by a kosher cookie joint. Used to make the best club sandwiches and chicken salad...gone for over 10 years I would say.

Edulis, Actionolite, The Grove, Bero or other...help!

Thanks for the replies...not looking for upscale...just looking for good food in a nice environment. Thought about Richmond Station but am heading there with another group in 2 weeks so wanted something different. Like the idea of a tasting menu. also though about Bar Isabel, was there last month, but the only time I could get on the night needed was 8:45. Any other suggestions?

Warden & Finch

My son has a soccer tournament this Saturday at Warden & Finch. Was going to pack a picnic but the forecast looks very un-picnic -like. Can anybody provide some quick, healthy lunch options nearby...take-out/eat in.
Thanks in advance.

Store bought h'orderves

I'd pick up a couple a hundred or so assorted samosas from Sultan of Samosas...link attached, along with a couple sides of Kristapsons smoked salmon (served with honey mustard, capers ,finely chopped onions and black bread), 2-3 assorted maki/sushi platters...and supplement anything either from a caterer or along Costco/President Choice apps.

King Street Belly Busters Opens Thursday!

Belly Busters was great 25 years ago when Mario would greet you by name and add a couple..."anybody looking" or "what a way to go my friend". Truth is raw ingredients are really very average..no name, salty meats and average veggies...nothing gourmet...nor artisan...just ain't that good and ain't that cheap!!

Brunch in North Toronto 2013

Try Vivetha Bistro on Yonge a couple block south of Loblaws on the West side of Yonge. Small place with friendly service and a fantastic brunch menu despite the odd name. Very inexpensive, delicious with very generous portions.

Dr. Laffa needs to requalify

Vinnie..a little mellow-dramatic. $7.00 for a massive, very tasty falafel, with about 10 different toppings to choose from. The lafa still has a very nice, chewy texture. Ate many, way worse, all over Israel last March.

Dr Laffa - Second Location Opened Today

I stopped in yesterday for a falalfel...delish!! What makes it different than any other falafel/schwarma place in TO (Tov lI, King David, Schwarma King....) is the laffa itself, a middle-eastern naan that is huge along with the variety of free toppings. On my falafel I had corn salad, fries, cole slaw, purple cabbage, regualar salad, pickles, hummus, hot sauce and tehina. You can also get onions, fried eggplant and these little fritters. Line-up was quite long and process seems quite inefficient. Witnessed a bit of a verbal fight between a young religeous lady and three religeous guys...she was really pissed that two of the guys jumped to the front of the line to join the thiird...really pissed..thought it would come to blows...and this was the first day!!

Buonanotte

Went last night and have to agree the place is beautiful..so are the waitresses! Was with a friend of the owner so service could not have been more attentive. Shared a bunch of dishes. Housemade meatballs, agnolotti, a pizza diablo and the bone in filet served sliced, with roasted potaoes and veggies. Have to say I enjoyed each dish, however needed two bottles of water throughtout the night as I slept, so the food was really salty. For a snowy Wednesday the place was hopping. Would definetely return..especailly for the pizza and pasta.

Vivetha Yonge Street Brunch

Been meaning too try Vivetha on Yonge for brunch, And today was the day. Was there with my son and his friend..both 10 years old. Place is smaller than I expected but nicely decorated. The boys each had 2 massive blueberry pancakes with bacon and sausages. I had the Sante Fe omelette (3 eggs...I had egg whites, with sauted mushrooms, onions and peppers and a spicy tomatoe concasse). It was served with a small micro green salad and delicious home fries. Coffee and toast was extra. Service was very pleasant and efficient and total bill with tax was $31.50. Unbelievable value...very good size orders...will be back for dinner and definetely brunch again.

The Tuck Shop or Liverpool House

Thanks everyone for the responses.
We ended up at Tuck Shop with an 8:30 reservation. The space is warm, loud, with a bit of an NYC feel. Food was fantastic. Each of us had different apps and mains and shared a bit. For apps we had the soup ( broccoli an aged cheddar), market salad, crispy tacos, and the sashimi. For mains we had the duck, the hangar steak, lamb shank, and the whole grilled Branzino, along with an order of some of the best frites I have ever had. Service was ver friendly, with no hint of pretense at all..so different than the equivalent resto in Toronto. All in all a great evening in a great spot.....would definitely return.
