Good bakeries in the burbs?

surprised no one has mentioned Crossroads Bake Shop in Doylestown. best baked goods i have eaten, hands down.

Paloma Philadelphia

Paloma is probably one of the best restaurants in philly. it has such a weird location, but definitely rivals center city fine dining; absolutely some of the THE best meals i have ever eaten.

South Philly breakfast, butcher and seafood

definitely go back and try Esposito Brothers. the best butcher in So. philly imho. i've been a regular there for so long that they treat me REALLY well. i go about once a month and spend about 300.00. the only thing i don't buy there is italian sausage: i think the best is had at Fiorella's on Christian between 8th & 9th. i prefer Claudio's and love Ipolito's. i think Sabrina's is fair at best. i want to try Morning Glory.

Alternatives to Starbucks

la colombe. the best coffee. i buy mine at Cafe Loftus; a funky/artsy little place on 15th, just shy of Walnut.

Cupcakes in Philadelphia: '08 Edition

The Velvet Sky Bakery in Jenkintown. the best i've ever had.

Best Cupcakes in Philadelphia?

about thirty minutes outside of center city, in Jenkintown, is The Velvet Sky Bakery.
they specialize in cupcakes and they are divine. www.velvetskybakery.com. the quality of both cake and frosting is outstanding and lovely presentations.

Visiting Philly from NYC

check out Paloma in Northeast Philadelphia.. it IS a gem... french mexican fusion.
serious orgasm on a plate dining; NOT inexpensive, however. also, consider osteria - marc vetri's other restaurant

My Philadelphia Restaurant Trip
