GE Monogram kitchen stuff--any good?

I'd like to know if anyone has the professional GE MONOGRAM rangetop and if they are happy with it? I plan on buying the side by side 48 in built in fridge, the advantium and the convection oven as well.

Does anyone have anything good to say about Viking (rangetops and ovens)?

Thanks for the positive feedback. I've been getting more posts from the folks over at Gardenweb too. It really helps giving me the confidence I need to make this purchase. I am pretty sure that I will be getting the 6 burner open burner rangetop. I'm still deciding on either the Thermador or Viking convention oven for the the under the counter oven.

Does anyone have anything good to say about Viking (rangetops and ovens)?

I've been reading and reading all the threads on ovens and rangetops hoping to find more supporters of Viking. It seems like most of the people that post have had serious problems! I am currently selecting all new appliances for a newly built kitchen. I am mainly going with GE monogram for most things including a built-in sxs fridge, advantium 120 and convection wall oven.( I just saw they had a price increase and am going to end up paying 1000 more for all items because I waited a month) However, I am leaning heavily towards the VIking 6 burner open burner gas rangetop and 2nd under the counter Viking convection oven. First I thought I would go with Thermador of my second under the counter oven, but am drawn towards viking.( Both the Thermador and Viking had 4.7 cu ft capacity as opposed to the GE which was as 4.4. I want one oven to be big enough for a Turkey. ) Maybe it is because we have two showrooms in my area and I can't believe that a company that has had so many complaints would still be in business (thriving actually) if it hasn't done something right. Does anyone have anything good to say about the open burner rangetop and convection oven from Viking or should I go with the GE mono rangetop and thermador oven. I have ruled out Wolf, Dacor and Miele because of Price. The Viking $ are decent here and match the GEMONO. Also I know the difference between the open and sealed. I think the open may have better flame, anyone think there is a real difference?

Whats the best configuration for a 36 inch 6 burner cooktop?

Thanks again, you've been a huge help!

Whats the best configuration for a 36 inch 6 burner cooktop?

Thanks everyone. It's great to get feedback from people who know what they are talking about. I'm still thinking it through. To go up to 48in will add several more 000 to the budget. For Docsknotinn: what did you mean about ventilation for wall ovens? We are getting a GE monogram convection oven with Advantium on top which will be place on an inside wall to the left of a 48in side by side built in Fridge( Either Kitchen Aid or GeMonogram - if any of you know something about either brand let me know) do you think we will have a problem? We are also installing an under counter conv. oven to the right of the cooktop (either Viking or Thermador) Thanks again!

Whats the best configuration for a 36 inch 6 burner cooktop?

I am currently considering the Viking VGSU163 36 inch 6 burner cooktop. I like the look of the viking professional drop in cooktop but I am worried that I won't really be able to fit 3 large size pots (including a large saute pan) on all at the same time. I worry that the simmer won't be as good as a brand with duel stacked burners and I worry that with only one large btu at 14,000 it might not have enough power. I think Thermador makes a 45 inch 6 burner and all the other brands only have 5 burner 36 inch cooktops. I love to cook and want the ability to do a lot of cooking at once. Does anyone have the the Viking 6 burner and does it meet your needs. Should I look at a 48 inch range top for maximum btu's and space? Thanks!

Hi what kind of 36 inch 6 burner cooktop. I like the look of the viking professional drop in cooktop but as I mentioned above am worried that I won't really be able to fit 3 large size pots (including a large saute pan) on all at the same time. I worry that the simmer won't be as good as a brand with duel stacked burners and I worry that with only one large btu at 14,000 it might not have enough power. What can you say about yours that might help some of my concerns.
Thanks!

Hi I am looking to buy the Viking vgsu163-36 inch 6 burner gas cooktop and was worried that it wouldn't be big enough to fit 3 large pots on at the same time. Also was worried about the simmer function. Sounds like you love yours. Which model is it. The one we are thinking of getting only comes in Stainless steel and was afraid of scratching. What are your thoughts?
