those Park Slope parents wanting to ban the Good Humor type ice cream truck
The original story in the Post was inaccurate.
Do you really think the media accurately covers the news? Or do they sensationalize it to get people appalled and totally outraged?

those Park Slope parents wanting to ban the Good Humor type ice cream truck
Really? This is "food" served to children. It is not prepackaged ice cream - there are no DOH specifications ... Vendors have been known to serve kids - and then ask for $$ from their parents... Not to mention that currently adults without kids are not permitted inside playgrounds.
those Park Slope parents wanting to ban the Good Humor type ice cream truck
Really? On chow hound too? To set things straight - no one called for a ban and the discussion revolved around the ice cream sellers who illegally sell their wares within the confines of the playground... Non licensed dealers of any kind are not permitted in the playground. Everyone loves the ice cream trucks outside the park.

Tasting menu in Brooklyn?
My husband would like a tasting menu ... I know these are usually required by the table and though I eat fowl - I don't eat red meat. Anyone know a nice restaurant that might have availability tonite or tomorrow night that could be flexible on a tasting menu?
Thanks!
Lunch suggestion in Brooklyn for tomorrow?
looking for a yummy lunch tomorrow for my birthday ... no italian, no chinese; other ethnicities are fine though probably something continental would be best for hubby --
flexible on location ...
thanks!
New restaurant Taqueria de los Muertos
I went last night ... second night opening -- new taqueria in a neighborhood without any despite the abundance of them in the slope ... I had a burrito with a corn filling -- at other places the corn is roasted but served alone and here it was mixed with red pepper & sweet potato - it was delicious! The kids had quesadillas and were happy ... We had mexican chocolate pudding and dessert nachos - decadent! We were stuffed! Highly recommended!

Brunch w/a view near N. Bellmore, Long Island
Curious to know if such a thing exists? Something nice - for adults - good view with a nice view?
THanks
Best brunch on Long Island?
thanks for the thought but we won't make it to staten island... babysitting doesn't permit us to travel that far from long island - which is where we'll be saturday night for break fast. I'll keep it in mind for another time.
Picket Fence renovation?
Wondering about opinions about the new Picket Fence? I passed by late last night and they were all lit up - though not open ... I don't know if they are open today as I haven't been by... Some interesting changes in there though I'm not sure how much I like it... Each wall has one long banquette with individual tables and new chairs... There's quite a lot going on on the walls and it seems pretty overwhelming to the small space... though it was just a quick glance and maybe I need to get used to it ...
Best brunch on Long Island?
I'm celebrating my 17th anniversary and family on long island have offered to let the kids sleep over so we can go to brunch next sunday morning... They live in Bellmore so we can't go too far from there.... ideas? I'd love a grown up style grand brunch ... thanks!

Long Island City or Astoria - Lunch suggestions?
i have to run an errand to long island city tomorrow and thought we stop for lunch w/ my husband and my 5 yr old... wondering what you can suggest in that area... open to anything that is child friendly and not all meat as I'm not a red meat eater...
thanks!
Rachel
I bought The Farm on Adderley, Ditmas Park
i went to the farm tonite for the first time with my husband and my 5 year old...
i had the aforementioned cold asparagus soup and my husband had the shrimp appetizer and both were quite good.. the shrimp was actually the best dish we had by far....these appys came quickly but we waited more than 1/2 hour for our entrees - and our 5 yr old wasnt too happy about that... i asked both the busperson and the waitress to bring his meal early as he was getting impatient and it still took awhile for his noodles to show... when they did i worried that he would finish eating before our entrees arrived but luckily that didn't happen...
my husband got the artichoke ravioli - which we liked and i got the trout - which had a very dull appearance on the plate and tasted a tiny bit too dry... We also ordered the aforementioned peach & blueberry crisp a la mode which had very little crisp to it and didn't taste like peach at all - we thought it was rhubarb, in fact.. .we brought it to the waitress's attention - as neither of us liked it and she thought it looked like rhubarb. She returned w/ the check and had deducted the dessert but said the kitchen said it was indeed peach and blueberry.. FWIW it didn't even taste sweet to us - save for the ice cream on top.
regardless of this review - we love the space and the idea of the restaurant - we will probably return if nothing but the support our local businesses and chalk up the delay to the recent opening ... a table of four near us all got burgers and were in after us and out well before so perhaps that's the key (if only i ate red meat).
