Canter's or Langer's For Pastrami
As my 2 year old daughter says, "Are you kidding me"? Langer's without a single thought or question.
Kid Friendly Santa Monica dinner (5ish)
The closest to Bergamot Station (23rd and Olympic) if possible but all appreciated!
Where to find Breadbar bread/pastries besides Breadbar
Okay - there's 3rd and Century City. And Cafe Luxe and Intelligentsia. Where else? Anywhere in the valley? Sherman Oaks, perchance?
Take the Cannoli ... but from where?
This is not a Victor Benes in Gelsons - I never said that. It is a separate bakery inside Gelson's Tarzana that makes the best cannolis ever. They are not part of Gelsons or part of Victor Benes - they simply have a bakery inside Gelsons - therefore you can't find them anywhere but there.
And these are not classic Italian cannolis. You won't find those here. These are the best version of American cannoli in my opinion. The shell and the filling are delicious. Nuff said.
Take the Cannoli ... but from where?
Never had a better Cannoli in my life - ever.
Hands down best in L.A.
In the bakery section of the Gelson's market, Tarzana
In Gelsons but not part of Gelsons.

LA Cake Roundup
Stolichnaya Bakery on fairfax in Whole Foods shopping center.
Amazingly moist, delicious, and inexpensive cakes - I've had the chocolate and the mocha.
7875 Santa Monica Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 323-656-7136 (on the corner of Santa Monica Blvd. and Fairfax Ave.)
Natas Pastries - Sherman Oaks
Funny - i always see it when i drive home and wonder if it's good. What did you have?
CSA Farm weekly home delivery in LA?

lovedelivery.com
Brioche Doree - LAX
Had a great chocolate chip cookie there a few months ago - very buttery. loved the brioche doree in Paris - not sure if it's really the same thing.
3 days with Baby on Union Street
SF HOUNDS ROCK! Thanks for all the great recs - and keep em coming. Anything organic and yummy nearby? How about on x-mas day - anything you think will be open nearby?
3 days with Baby on Union Street
My husband and I are taking a quick vacation to SF with our 1 year old daughter and staying at our friend's house on the corner of Union and Steiner.
We will be there from x-mas day through the 27th and would love any suggestions of chowish food within walking distance that's also kid friendly.
I know it's a lot to ask - but figured it's SF - there's good food almost everywhere. Take out is fine too if need be.
All types of cuisine.
THANKS!
Any ideas for dinner party of 20 near Knotts Berry Farm tomorrow night?
You could go to Medieval Times - it's theme-y but fun for the whole fam.

Help! Need Toddler-Friendly Westside Dining
It's the Valley (Sherman Oaks) but Pinot Bistro is extremely kid friendly - in fact kids under 12 eat well and eat FREE!
healthy and delicious dinner for 8-10 at home - sherman oaks
I want to have a small dinner party at my house for a recently married couple. I have a new baby and no time to cook but would love it to seem homemade. Any suggestions - I'd love it to cost less than 25 per person.
Thanks
ISO Peanut Butter Sauce like Friendly's in L.A.?
Husband and best friend keep raving about the peanut butter sundaes from friendly's they would eat as kids. They especially rave about the peanut butter sauce on top. Anyone know of a place in L.A. (we're in Sherman Oaks but we'll drive) where we can find anything comparable.
dessert after tacos baja ensenada?
Wouldn't call it light - but very satisfying. Husband and I did it last week: Baja Ensenada then to Fossleman's. I had a scoop of rocky road with caramel sauce and whipped cream. He had a single scoop of cookies and cream then wound up finishing mine.
Perfection

Crazy Fish? Are all those people outside crazy?
Yes, the y are crazy IMO. I used to go there in high school (15 years ago) and it was gross then too - but the portions are huge and it's cheap so it will probably outlive all of us.
Fred's Bakery and where to find a bagel
I heard Brent's deli, Northridge, supplies Langers' rye. And it's DEEE-licious!
Europane vs. Lovebird's Bakery Cafe in Pasadena
Never been impressed by Europane - the food, the service - nothing blew me away. The egg salad that everyone raves about? Boring. The pastries? Dry. Tried a few times to make sure it wasn't an off day. It wasn't. Looking forward to trying Lovebird.
Mako - Not over rated
There last night to celebrate husband's 40th. Omakase from heaven.
Started with white asparagus in a peanut sauce - perfection
Next - Sashimi salad with the most buttery yellowtail, sublime tuna, and nice tuna tataki
Next - Kobe beef skewers with grilled onions - melt in your mouth
Next - Scallops and Mushrooms with a spinach ravioli - wonderful
Next - Black Cod and mushrooms - unbelieveably rich and buttery
Next - Lamb chops with pesto and sechuan green beans - masterful - can't believe we were able to eat everything - so stuffed - but had to keep tasting each flavor.
Then the dessert bento box - amazing tiny chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies, strawberry shortcake - my husband says the best he's ever had, macadamia nut praline tart, raspberry and mango sorbets...
excellent service, mako was lovely - the man/the restaurant - we will return!
provincetown recs?
[moved from Boston Board]
going for a week - anything not to miss? and who has the best lobster rolls?
thanks!
Mako's closed on Sundays - where to go for similar meal?
It's my b-day - husband works 6 days a week - we only have Sunday night to celebrate - and we're craving Mako. Any suggestions for alternatives?
Thanks!
Susina's Almond Croissant
My all time favorite - Delice on Pico just west of La Cienega
My husband's favorite - Amandine on Wilshire just West of Bundy
Also excellent - Breadbar on 3rd street just west of La Cienega
Good Italian in Sherman Oaks?
You forgot that the pizza at Spumoni is one of the best in the city...
SUSIE CAKES IS OPEN
There today - parking in back
Tasted peanut butter cupcake which was chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting - good but not my favorite.
The moon pie was delicious as was the coconut cupcake.
The banana pudding was the best version I've had in L.A. - spectacular. The butterscotch/toffee pudding was also delicious - but I would have preferred plain butterscotch.
All in all - a great new bakery.
