Local place to buy copper mugs? Hi, folks. Any ideas where I could get a copper mug or two (Moscow Mule purposes)? Tried Bar Keeper but they only had a huge vintage set. If I had better timing there are good prices on used ones on ebay, but I need something local. |

If I'm eating IN the hood Il Capriccio is the only option. Nicky D's and Hard Times are shells of their former selves sadly. Glad to hear the wings at Tomato Pie are worth trying, however! I've never had a real issue at ll Capriccio. No grumps. No foul service. Once a less then attentive waitress. If I don't eat in, I always pick-up so I can't speak to delivery. Their "paesana" pizza is the way to go, followed by the "salsiccia." Love that crust. |

Best Submarine Sandwiches in SGV area? Here's another whole hearted cheer for the Stuffed Sandwich. I crave the capocollo sub! |

Have you had it recently at Red Lion? I used to LOVE them but stopped when the food took a general dive as the ownership changed hands over 2 years ago. It'd be great to have 'em back! |

I love me some Dinosaur when I visit Ra-cha-cha! |

Love Galco's but there you certainly pay for the convenience of having of the specialty soda's under one roof. |

Been awhile since I checked back. Thanks to Chuckles for returning the discussion to the point. |

So apparently we can't discuss food poisoning (a mistake IMHO) but can we link to stories or government sites about health department closures and violations or will those be deleted too? |

1)Importing of Mexican is a HUGE bizness nowadays. Some major chains in some cites (those with large immigrant communities) even carry it. It such a big money maker that domestic coke distributors have tried to get Coke to stop it. Here's an article from January '06: http://juantornoe.blogs.com/hispanict... 2) There are a ton of places (restaurants and stores) to get Mexican Coke in LA. It's always kind of a surprise where turns up. Zeke's and Caioti are a couple of restaurants. The cheapest I have ever found it for sale is for $1 for a $12 oz at a convenience store in Silverlake. |

Yeah, extra sauce used to be free, but think about how much a slice of cheese on a burger or sandwich costs you. 50 cents ain't a dollar at least. I will gripe that the quality of the sauce as been very iffy (or at least inconsistent) for awhile now. |

I'm surprised people are being so kind here. Give it time... It is SOOOO greasy. The service at every location I've been to is pretty bad. The service thing tends stick out more when you are somewhere like Old Town Pasadena. (FYI the Pasadena version goes under their Boba World name). All that said, I do have a soft spot for their spicy yakisoba. Everything else is pretty blah. |

So what do you think a meal for 2 with a drink each would run? |

There's no comparison because they are completely different kinds of pizza. That said if I were to leave LA the superb pie at Casa Bianca's would be hard to replace. As opposed to delicious Vito's which fills a void in a pizza deprived city but certainly has matches elsewhere. |

There's No Place Like Home on Hillhurst, Los Feliz Although we've lived in the neighborhood for 8 years, we've only just started going again to HOME over the past couple of months. The service and the wait were so terrible years ago I just cut it out the "possibilities" altogether. So far, for breakfast at least, things have improved on all fronts and we have been really digging the meals. |

Il Capriccio Pizzeria first impressions 3 times so far. Great every time. The tomato, basil, and garlic one is a little lack luster. The standard pizza has been consistently good. The eggplant topping and sausage seem to be good choices. Like the basic salad too. |

Any okonomiyaki in Little Tokyo? I'd like to try it but don't want to go as far West as Sawtelle. |

Aroma in Silver lake - what to get? This place blew me away! Thanks for the tips! I can't believe I went so long without eating there. |

The pasteurization has nothing to do with the distinct East Coast flavor. It just goes bad quicker and has less chems in it. Most chain grocery stores, back east, sell cider that has been pasteurized but it sill maintains the complex, woody, musty deliciousness that I've never found in a single cup of cider anywhere in LA or on this Coast. |

Dinah's Fried Chicken in Glendale? Is this the one on Sunset that you love? |

So excited to have this back! |

That's a funny one! |

Jayburger...anyone know its fate? Here's an update on what the replacement to Jay's is: |

Woodland Hills & Vicinity Eats Yeah, the bread at Dan's kinda ruins the sub. Tastes like Kirkland rolls. The staff is equally grumpy as the folks at Art's, but I'd still have to go with Art's on the sub front. |

I prefer Il Capricio (on Vermont north of Hollywood) to Farfalla. They have a good Chinese chicken salad at Chi Dynasty just across the street from the Derby. |

Ditto on the Stuffed Sandwich and Lucky Baldwins! |

I didn't know that part of the site was working, again. Thanks! I just printed the list as a PDF! |

Woodland Hills & Vicinity Eats What's funny is nobody made any claims about Yang Chow being "authentic." You just came out of left field with that comment. I've eaten well in the Mainland, HK, and Macau and all over the San Gabriel Valley. It doesn't make the best dishes at Yang Chow in Chinatown, Pasadena, or even Woodland Hills not good. Are all "authentic" Chinese restaurants good? Nope. Are there many good Chinese restaurants of any kind in that part of the Valley. Nope. Since the posting is about good places to eat in the Woodland Hills area, why don't you actually mention a good authentic place to eat Chinese in the Woodland Hills area if that is your beef? |

Woodland Hills & Vicinity Eats Yang Chow comparable to Panda Express? Wow. For me you've earned the most-ridiculous-line-on-Chowhounds so far for 2007. |

Woodland Hills & Vicinity Eats Sushi Iki: If you can get in there at lunch when you're the only customer at the counter, you'll get star treatment. Seriously, the best I've ever had. I still dream about the seaweed salad with Spanish mackerel sashimi I had there. |
