Another new Indian restaurant coming soon to Freehold boro ?

Heard they are supposed to open this weekend. My husband called and was told that their final inspection was Monday (yesterday) and if that goes well they should be open this Friday or Saturday.

Reyna's Mexican Restaurant - Tinton Falls

We have eaten at Reyna's twice. The food is delicious, very good portions AND made from scratch, so if it is busy you may have to wait but it is worth it! Delicious!

Whole Foods coming to Wall in late 2015 or early 2016!

Have it from a reliable source - Whole Foods will take over the Brielle Health Club space as well as other contiguous space along this strip mall.

Best Lobster Roll

Just experienced the best lobster roll I've ever eaten and yes it was indeed at Point Lobster Barbarella. Current price is $12 and to answer the question from MGZ - just pure lobster and maybe a smidgeon of drawn butter on a New England dog bun, no mayo or other junk at all.

Looking for a receipe a few months ago on a blog I stumbled on a comment from someone from Maine who said "a lobster roll requires just two things - lobster and a roll." Damn if they were not right...

Voila Restaurant Pt. Pleasant - CLOSED!

Just to let everyone know we passed by Voila Restaurant in Pt. Pleasant yesterday and saw they have closed. New sign on the door says coming soon: The Poached Pear an American Bistro/Executive Chef and Owner Scott Giordano, formerly Sous Chef at Saddle River Inn and Executive Chef at Whispers in Spring Lake. We really liked Voila and will miss them!

Best Italian in Monmouth County

NOLA, went to Mossutos last night and had the homemade linguini with garlic and oil. A guy next to us had the homemade linguini with white clam sauce (fresh clams in the shell like it's supposed to be). It looked and smelled delicious. Just one thing.....when you go DO NOT SHARE, LOL!

grampart, that looks delicious! Could you be kind enough to post the receipe for both the chicken and sauce if it is not too much trouble?

Best Italian in Monmouth County

NOLA, I really think you would enjoy Mossuto's. It is excellent. Their pizza is not the "traditional" crispy crust type but it is quite good. Their pasta dishes are IMO outstanding, especially their rigatoni bolognese and linguine with white clam sauce or red. We were at Antonios in wall about a month ago. It was not bad. If you go to Mossutos try the pork chop milanese with arugula salad. It is delicious. I will give Squan another try. I know some of my friends do enjoy their pizza.

Did you ask for some? Maybe they are charging for it now. Some places are.

Best Italian in Monmouth County

NOLA, I understand, but Squan is definitely not what it used to be and what it used to be was IMO just okay. There is no compare to say, Mossuto's. I always thought Maria's was way better than Squan, but since they sold they are getting some really bad reports. So is squan from friends of mine who use to dine there frequently.

With all due respect, NOLA, the food at Squan tavern is terrible. Their meatballs are tasteless and their sauce is awful. Back in the day they were not too bad but now the opinion down here is they are not good. Maria's is also getting some lousy reports too since they sold.

Sahara in Mattawan on 34

Just returned from having lunch at Sahara 34 in Matawan. The food was fantastic! My friend and I had the same thing..the chicken sawarma (sp?) wrap with the side greek salad. The chicken was oh so tender and juicy with peppers and onions with a delicious tzatziki sauce wrapped in a fresh mid-eastern flat type bread. The salad was sooooo fresh and tasty with a light oil and vinegar/lemon dressing. It was incredible. I asked the owner for some hot sauce for my wrap and he gave me some of his homemade hot sauce that was fantastic with lots of heat! I even ended up buying some to take home, LOL! The dining room was very nice with clean table cloths on the tables and a very nice ambiance. The owner told me it is also a BYOB. He was excellent in his service and knowledge of the menu items. I would very highly recommend Sahara 34 for delicious and fresh mid-eastern cuisine. I will definitely be back soon!

Whole Foods coming to Wall in late 2015 or early 2016!

You make a good point as there is no retail space in that mall large enough and with loading docks to house a Whole Foods other than the new Lowe's Express. Unless Lowe's is bailing out, which is a possibility based on the amount of business they seem to be doing.

The old furniture store would be a real stretch considering the current condition and lack of available parking spaces. How about the A&P - just a thought...

We went back again for a Christmas gift for a friend and the person who received the gift was simply delighted. She loved her treats.

Recommended Restaurants in Spring Lake, NJ

If you want casual Italian go to Mosutto's for great food and a funky atmosphere. If you desire upscale (but still casual) seafood go to The Shipwreck (bonus here as it has been under renovation for six weeks and should be open again for your trip.)

You have the Scone Pony pegged for sweets, nothing else even comes close in the area. I personally would skip - Black Trumpet, Kleins, Ray's and Mr. Shrimp, which are all simply just ok.

Restaurant near Laurita Winery

Yes - there certainly is a good restaurant nearby with delicious Italian food served in a homey atmosphere by a wonderful Italian woman and her husband from Naples Italy. The name is Cream Ridge Italian Villa at 445 County Hwy 539 N New Egypt, NJ 08533, which is only a few miles from Laurita Winery.

i've been there several times and have enjoyed each visit. We usually opt for one of their homemade pasta type dishes. Everything is made to order and served by a very efficient and friendly staff. There are several other Italian restaurants in the area but the Italian Villa is something special.

Matata Asian Cuisine - Middletown, NJ

Decided to go my self and check it out last week and was not overly impressed with the food. Nice ambience and helpful service but the food falls short of what you have been experiencing at Nemo in Keyport for the past several years. I would rate it simply OK. A word of caution for the rave reviews posted here by a couple of one-hit-wonders.

Woolley's Seafood House in Freehold, NJ

No they are are not related to the great Wholey in Pittsburgh - wish they were. My memory of this institution in the burgh goes back to the 1960's fish sandwiches. If you know Wholey you probably remember the downtown Oyster House, another seafood great...

VOILA French resto PP Beach

You bet - they are one of our favorites. Delicious food, nice ambience and you are treated like one of the family. We even went here New Years Eve this year with another couple and had a great time. It's a BYOB.

Go here to read a few reviews, and disregard the one poor review written by a single review expert with an axe to grind.

MGZ - have to agree with you completely on this one. We have been going to PLC for several years now and it is now our go to place for any thing that come out of the ocean. The fact that their pricing is very fair is a bonus and it seals the deal...

Prime Rib - Monmouth

Went to WYB tonight and the prime rib was decent but not worth the price. $23 for the meat and $2 for a baked spud.
Sorry no value there at all. Husband had stuffed flounder for $21 plus another $2 spud. Floiunder was fishy tasting with pasty tasting stuffing and not good. Bottom line w/ three glasses of house wine tax and tip coming in at $96 this joint has lost its edge and is no longer recommended...

Pierre Chocolat - Wall, NJ

Good news - the following e-mail from Pierre confirms that he will indeed be opening another store here in Jersey.

*** For now I am taking special orders with a $35 minimum . I am going to keep making chocolate after Easter and start looking for a small store to rent . I have missed making chocolate for everyone and hope to go forward with a store soon . Till then hopefully phone and email orders will work for everyone . Thank you for being there for us.

Firefly American Bistro, Manasquan NJ

We have been there 3 times since Sandy and enjoyed each meal. However keeping in mind that we rate them 3 stars meaning it is A-OK so we are not looking for fine dining at Maria's. As I said above they have made a few positive change to the ambience. White linen table cloths - who would have ever thought in the day...

Firefly American Bistro, Manasquan NJ

MGZ- by all means do give Maria's a try as they have upgraded the ambience in recent years but still serve the same basic dishes they have served forever. The husband and I have been going here off and on since the mid seventies and have never had a really bad meal. They will never be fine dining perhaps but none the less you could do worse...
