Thanks for the tips, however, you are wrong about the Kvas. Xinjiang kvas is made from honey and hops, no rye involved :P
Looks interesting, but also looks like it's mostly pork dishes. The gf is muslim, homesick and dying for good food as much as I am. haha.
Would quite possibly kill for a fare like this here:
Lived in China for the past 4 years and recently moved back here. Getting desperate for something real (seriously, have lost 20 pounds in the last 2 months because I get hungry, walk into a restaurant and one smell kills the appetite). I'm in the LA area, and anything decent within... say... 100 miles would be seriously considered.
A Xinjiang place would be ideal, but good luck with that one. China-Islamic and Ma's... they have Daoxiaomian, but that's pretty standard fare and nothing special to be honest.
I'm looking for Latiaozi, Nang, and Kvas if it even exists here (honey beer). Shouzhuafan would rock too.
Again in Chinese:
Just need something real Chinese, not Taiwanese, not Canotonese, and if it's halal... I'm dreaming, but it would be ideal.
