Special Dinner in Westchester

We had been away from Iron Horse for over year; no reason other than too lazy to drive to Pleasantville. we visted again a few weeks ago; still outstanding. give it a try.

Can't Miss Spots In York Area

last summer was better than ever. don't think it closes for the season. the wine list continues to grow as well. go and enjoy those fried green olives.

Steak: The Palm (original) vs. Wolfgang's (original)

saddly, saturday night is the worst night of the week to dine out eventhough most people want to dine out that night. it's your money, you control the night. if the waiter doesn't get it, the venue does not deserve your repeat business. there are too many restaurants in NYC that you have to settle for BS on Saturday night. the last time at Palm we had the new steak for two, couldn't have been better, a large sirlon that was split by three adults.

Le Bernardin, Jean Georges or Daniel?

it all dependents on your mood. follow you gut. I have always enjoyed JG and Daniel. you comments re the service statff at LB is consisitent with my experience. I would do JG.

Best Sandwiches in westchester?

finally got to Melt for lunch; as good as the reviews have indicated.

Looking for Good Cocktail Bars in Boston

second for Clio in the Hotel Elliot which has just rebuilt its bar; it looks great. can't wait to visit the city, hotel and bar in the near future. recent article in the Globe had a picture of the new bar. (sashimi bar in lobby is quit good also)

Momofuku Ko - lunch or dinner ?

I have only expreienced lunch twice; what a marithon of food and if you include the wine as well, what a great way to spend an afternoon.

Private room for 15 people on a Saturday night that doesn't require a set menu

Gramercy Tavern has a great back room? check

Ai Fiori at the Setai

Had lunch there at the begining of Restaurant Week, service and food just fine. couldn't expect more for a $24 lunch.

New Year's Eve Suggestions? - 4 People, low-key

One of the worse nights of the year to go out for dinner in NYC; usually overpriced rip offs. Suggest you get take out from your favorite restaurant and stock the home bar with your guests usual drinks as well as some movies. Certainly cheaper and safer than going to a restaurant on New Year's Eve.

Need alternative to Sparks, Bobby Vans, etc.

agreed; very good.

follow up to your question, did you ever go?

Best Italian restaurant in NYC

Interesting that you consider Ai Fiori an Italian restaurant. Even though Michael White is known to be cooking Italian for a few years, I wouldn't think of Ai Fiori as Italian (putting aside the pasta dishes). I do agree, though, the four meals I have had there since opening have been better than the previous one. Yes Marea is quit good but still don't think as Italian since the focus is fish (again, quit good). Any suggestions for red sauce Italian in the metro area?

Moderne Barn - Armonk

agreed; we have enjoyed each visit. something on the menu for every one, from hot dogs to steak and fish.

Season's in White Plains - Brunch?

I haven't been in a few years. they must be doing something right as they are still open. I remember a great saki list but the facility was so dirty (unpainted/dirty wall behind the sushi bar). Haiku isn't better just south on Mamaroneck Avenue. best of luck.

arrosto any problems I hope not

We went last Saturday night for the first time at 8pm; four of us. The couple with us had previously been to Arrosto. We were right on time but it seemed a table was not available. The bar was two deep; it was suggested we order drinks. The hostess was unwilling to estimate the waiting time; her attitude was what did you expect, it was Saturday night; it did not seem like she was having a good day. The room certainly was energetic; the guests all seemed to be enjoying themselves; the food looked good; a pizza oven in the middle of the main room is a nice feature .
Some how, in ten minutes, a table became available. Now another wait at the table to be greeted by the waiter; i had not ordered a cocktail in the bar. The waiter can't be found but the hostess somehow realizes we have not been served (even water) and happily takes my cocktail order.
Waiter is found, the water is served as well as bread; excellant bread basket.
We order and the first courses are quit good; i had a simple salad but the others cooked items.
Now the main course for two is served, the pasta. the fish special for the night ordered by the other two does not arrive; the table is advised that the fish comes from another part ot the kitchen. Wow, no expeditor in the kitchen; we don't get it. The orders finally arrive after the pasta dishes have been finished. What was surprising is that food was quit good if not excellent

Best Authentic Italian in Montreal

confirmation on Il Cortile. dined their this past Monday night. Food was very good, service the same and what a italian wine list (a bit pricey though). We were visiting from NYC and after dinning at Europea and Bonaparta the prior two nights, we needed a fix of Italian food. A local made the suggestion. Looking forward to returning to Montreal ASAP. very enjoyable weekend.

Any suggestions for a wedding rehearsal dinner near the Rye Town Hilton?

Red Cat upstairs room might work; right on Hudson River.

anniversary lunch-thursday-lower westchester-suggestions?

Red Hat in Irvington on the Hudson.

Benjamin Steakhouse-White Plains

would have to agree; we ordered our steaks medium rare, they were almost rare. maybe our mistake in not asking, both the filet and the sirlon. My cocktail was not made with the requested Gin; no indication upon serving that the Gin requeted was out of stock.

Fujinoya, Hartsdale (next to IHOP on Central Ave)

possibly Brown Rice Tea; had it served the first time at a sushi bar in san francisco.

Pranzi

yes, the food is good. forcosia bread was great, cocktails good. I had the hen, even the white meat was moist. Pizza good as well. the room is a little awkward based on the space being in the corner of the ground floor walk way from the garage to City Center. the front of the house has a nice bar with a large TV. look forward to visiting again.
