Chinese New Years

Any recos specifically in Chinatown?

Restaurant near Riverside Church (120th and Riverside Dr.)???

My sister's graduation is at the Riverside Church (120th and Riverside Dr.). Looking for a couple of recommendations for restaurants around the area. . .preferably within walking distance.

Love the board's help!!!

Thanks.
Chris

Keen's Steakhouse - Don't Go!!!!

I would say it's not the BEST of the steakhouses, but it does have a mean prime rib, and the mutton chop does rock.

However, it's the BEST for lunch. Hit the bar. All regulars. Order a scotch and the filet skewers. Always smart.

Where to eat in Chinatown for Chinese New year

i know there will be smaller places that are closed, but any recommendations for a fun dinner tonight?

Brunch UES?

I need a suggestion for brunch in the UES. Fun place for 5 ppl? Not tooo expensive.

Any good ideas?

please help: french, affordable, romantic, authentic

i had an amazing dinner there once. the truffle poached chicken was seriously phenomenal.

Pata Negra

D'Espana gets the real stuff, pata negra de bellota in every now and again. Call them up. I they allow some into the country in either limited quantities or for limited periods of time (or both)

Best Turkey Burger

The spicy chicken burger at RARE is VERY tasty.

Best Seafood Markets/Stores in Manhattan/BK?

I agree with the Gourmet Garage sentiment. They have fabulous products and produce, and dairy among other things, but their seafood and meat department is horrendous (maybe to extreme a word. . .but definitely a let down compared with everything else)

Best ice cream shop in the city

thanks. will have to try it.

Best fried chicken?

ditto. went to the location in the 30s for lunch. completely empty.

it was upstairs and there was no sign.

the waiteress gave us a menu, and when we tried to order some starters before the chicken she said, no, we only have chicken (then why give us the menu??)

but GREAT chicken. AND they deliver

It's not american fried chicken, though. there is no subsititute for some good southern fried chicken.

Best ice cream shop in the city

looking for some strawberry and cream ice cream like I had in devon england.

place to taste olive oil before buying?

D'Espana for spanish olive oil. And pick up some jamon y morcilla. . .yu,.

best steak restaraunt in manhattan

i honestly have not had any great experiences with argentinian places in the city. there are a few brazilian churrascarias that are tasty though. there's a place buenos aires in the village that is an ok argentinian.

for steaks. . .some that I like, other than P. L.
S&W / Posthouse
Sparks (nice strip)
Ben and Jacks (better than Wolfgangs by far)
DelFriscos
Striphouse

have not been to BLT Steak, Stk, CraftSteak, Mark Joseph's among others, but have heard that they are decent.

Keen's, Porterhouse, Maloney & Porcelli, and Quality Meats are ok.

Don't care for ANY of the Palms or Dylan Prime

Best noodles in the city (ramen)

What's up with momofuku these days...?

my new hamburger ranking

Blair Perrone closed a cpl months back. the space was simply toooooo big. What could survive there. Ruth's Chris couldn't even survive there.
