Fresh Pasta north of Boston

I'm hoping to find a place similar to Venda Ravioli somewhere north of Boston. Any suggestions?? We've tried Dave's fresh pasta and it doesn't even compare in size and availability.

Micucci's Pizza

Before trying out the Poutine at Duckfat we decided to stop into Micucci's grocery store to pick up some Italian food staples. I had heard about the pizza at the back of the store and up the stairs. This is true Sicilian pizza at it's best. Not the cracker thin crust NY style pizza. The crust was thick and airy and perfectly coated with this fresh, simple tomato sauce and just plain mozzarella cheese. It's sounds simple, but it was amazing. A huge square for $5. Best deal of the night. This is an old school italian grocery store, but don't miss the pizza.

Duckfat - Portland Maine

We stopped into Duckfat early last Saturday night specifically to try their famous, well reviewed Poutine. We ordered a small order of Poutine to split, and a coffee milkshake. The belgian fries were perfectly crisp, with this amazing gravy and cheese curds. The cheese curds were soft by the time we got to the end of the bowl, but they were perfectly tasty. Can't wait to go back!

Portland Pie Company coming to Nashua

We enjoy sitting at the bar at Portland Pie in Manchester NH. The pizza is some of the best in the area, however, the service can be painfully slow. Sit at the bar...best option to get good service. Otherwise it's hit or miss on table service.

Chipotle comes to 101A in Nashua

Chipotle has many stand alone sites all over the country. IMO they are the nicest. The closest stand alone to here is in Woburn at exi 37c off I93.

Lucia's Bakery, Nashua - how is it??

Lucia's is amazing. Best bear claws in NH...also great Portuguese rolls/breads. She sometimes has linguisa rolls...very good and you can buy frozen and take home. I stop in every time I'm in the Nashua area, although haven't been in about 6 months!

Party Subs Nashua/Manchester area

I would recommend USA subs..there are a few locations around southern NH. Although I haven't ordered from them in a few months.

What's happened to the Common Man

Just went to Common Man in Concord this week, and was not impressed at all. Ordered the salad and quiche of the day. The salad greens were wilted and had that "starting to go bad" smell. It was supposed to come with balsamic vinaigrette, which was very scant. The quiche was like eating rubber. It was not fresh by no means, and tasted like it was frozen and reheated several times over. Will not go back again anytime soon.

Tuscan Kitchen Milford NH?

I'm looking forward to trying the Tuscan Kitchen in Salem. The building looks gorgeous, and I've been hearing nothing but good reports from everyone that has been so far. Salem needed an establishment like this!

"Special Menu" at Asian Breeze, Hooksett NH--authentic Chinese and Korean

Asian Breeze is consistently good to very good! We sit at the bar during the week and get half price appetizers. We've been all over the area, and their lomein is the freshest, and they make a mean mai tai.

donuts at Concord, NH farmers' market?

Rollin in the dough will be set up at the Concord Winter Farmer's Market according to the owner/baker. I'm not sure of the location, but will find out and repost!

Portland Pie Company, Manchester, NH

Ditto!

Johnny Troy's Manchester NH

Get takeout if you want this mediocre pizza, because the place is filthy, dirty! Ick

Portland Pie Co - Manchester NH

I would have to disagree on Johnny Troy's pizza! First off, the place is filthy and the panini grill is black and gross as if they've never cleaned it. We saw ants everywhere! The pizza was mediocre, and the calzone/subs were not fresh tasting at all. 900 degrees is over priced, soggy, tasteless cracker crust pizza..just not my style. The only thing they have going for them is their chic space and vibe. I guess if you're on the hunt for "NY pizza" Portland Pie may not fit the bill for you, but it rivals many of the excellent pizza places in Providence and Boston. I happen to LOVE thier pizza! The Moneghan pizza is the best! If I want true NY pizza...I'm going to NY, but for now, in this culinary wasteland they call NH, Portland Pie fills the gaps in between for us.

Portland Pie Co - Manchester NH

We've visited the newly opened Portland Pie Co in Manchester, on Elm St, several times in the past few weeks...and all I can say is WOW! I've been impressed with their pizza, calzones, pulled pork sliders, lobster sliders...Everything we have ordered has been fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Drinks (margarita's, shipyard brewing co beer..etc) are all excellent! It fills up fast on weekends, but you can usually grab a seat at the bar and enjoy the scenery. We've liked it so much, that we've been back there several times in a two week span. Finally some good pizza in the Manchester area!!!

First stop of the season @ Dipsy Doodle off Rt. 93 in Northfield/Tilton NH - Yum yum yum!!!!!

Had the hot lobster roll last week at Dipsy Doodle Dairy Bar. It was very good! I usually get the regular lobster salad roll there, but decided to try the hot one with the butter. Love it, but still love the lobster rolls at the Beach Plum in No. Hampton. Hands down the best still IMO.

Best burgers in manchester nh?

Five Guys?

Republic Cafe--Gastropubbing comes to Manchvegas!

Totally agree on the "same winners every year!" BORING! How about passing the torch to someplace new for a change. Red Arrow coffee is weak and flavorless! The backroom is a good standby, but not at all what I would call a "top restaurant"!

Help me understand Italian food in New Hampshire (and northern New England)...please?

Angela's is a poor excuse compared to Providence's Venda Ravioli. Doesn't even compare. The staff is elusive and unhelpful when answering questions. Everyday products are expensive!

Lunch Near PPAC

Myself and teenage niece are heading to the matinee of Wicked in Providence and are looking for a special place for lunch before the show. Doesn't have to be within walking distance of the theater, we're open to suggestions to something in the vicinity. Any food is an option, as long as it's great food. Not looking to spend over 30/pp.

Providence Area Holiday Meetup location

Locale - Providence area as mentioned
Budget - open to suggestions in all ranges as it's just a group drink/apps outing
Cuisine - I didn't specify because I thought there would be more suggestions if I didn't

Manchester, NH

I have to agree with gryphonskeeper. We frequented Gauchos when they first opend and had some great meals there. We hadn't been in a year, and decided to give them another shot, even after hearing that they had significantly lost alot their initial appeal. The salad bar was sufficient at best. Nothing to write home about, although I did love those little cheese puff rolls. The rest of the salad bar mimicked the deli case at Hanaford's supermarket. We finished our salads, turned our meal discs to green, and were flocked with 6-8 gauchos at once, bombarding our table of 6 people. It was overwhelming. Our waitress hadn't even brought our drinks yet. We finished two rounds of the gauchos bringing us low grade turkey, sausages, charred overdone flank steak,etc..before our waitress brought us our drinks. We decided to turn our discs to red at least until she brought out the side dishes of plantains, rice and sauces. (A little after the fact). This was 30 minutes after sitting down! After a short break, we decided to go green again, and low and behold, NO gauchos were coming to our table. We even called for one to come over, asked the waitress to send a couple...nothing! The only filet we saw all night was these little charred, rubbery nuggets wrapped in bacon. I finally asked one of the gauchos if there was any lamb or medium rare filet floating around...he didn't speak english, smiled and went on his way to another table. We had enough...and turned our disc to red. It was my birthday celebration, so our waitress brought out a cake that my spouse had ordered. Twenty minutes later came our coffees, after we were finished with the cake. The kicker...as we started to pay the bill...low and behold, out came a gaucho right to our table with a beautiful skewer full of medium rare filet wrapped in bacon! I had to have a few pieces...as our other guests were putting on their jackets!
Overall...the location is excellent, the building and decor is fantastic and just the way dining in downtown Manchester should be. But...the quality of the food and service doesn't match up with the price you pay. At $30.. plate, I expected to have a better experience.

Providence Area Holiday Meetup location

We are a group of about 15-20 adults who are looking to have a quaint holiday gathering (yes, last minute!) in the Providence area. We're looking for a place that has good Christmas ambiance, cozy and cute, and quiet enough for all of us to chat. We're hoping there is a great place that has chow worthy food and appetizers, and maybe some hot seasonal drinks! Any help! Time is limited as our meeting is in two weeks!

Believe it or not, Walmart!

Huge new style Walmart with great selections.

"Polynesian" style Chinese restaurants

Is there anything similar or comparable in to Bob Loo's in Southern NH today? I too am from the RI area and miss the Polynesian style Chinese joints. Would love to find one close to home!

Chowhounds ~ where is you best apple picking!

I'm looking for apple picking in a idyllic country scene, with a good bakery, maybe a gift shop, some activities for the family, and most of all...a good variety of apples. Does this place exist in Northern Ma to Southern NH area? I'm willing to travel some too! Make it a day trip! Anyone?

The Hounds of Dover, NH

I would personally like to thank all of you for THE most interesting thread on the New England Chowhound site in a really long time! I gained so much information and hope for the seacoast even reading these posts! Very inspirational and promising that there are other foodies that actually live in NH and care about the restaurant scene. All too often the same places are referred by the same people...over and over and over again! Thank you for keeping it fresh!

Why doesnt Aunt Carries (Point Judith, RI) get more love?

I was not impressed with Evelyn's clam chowder in the least. It was watery, with chunks of potatoes, hardly any clams, and very bland. I like a good white or even red chowder, and Evelyn's only serves their signature "RI clear broth chowder. However, we did have an order of fried clams and they were good...not the best i've had, but good.

Taste of Downtown Manchester, NH - Wed, Sep 9, 5-8PM

Same here...didn't go due to the overwhelming crowd that prevents you from getting near all the good places! The portions are minute and they often run out at times.

Exceptional eats in Denver, please!

Thanks for the tip on the farmer's markets! I've been planning on hitting the cherry creek farmers market on our way into the mountains over the weekend. We've rented a condo in Breckenridge and will buy items to cook and snack on there!
