Hudson Valley Restaurant Weeks - March 14-27, 2011
Went to Il Barilotto in Fishkill last night. They presented the HVRW menu right away and had some amazing feature wines on the back of the menu as well. Dinner was fantastic. The place was packed being that they don't accept reservations for parties under five. Our wait was only 20 minutes and it was worth it.
TRUFFLE DINNER IN HUDSON VALLEY
they are doing both black and white truffles. For $150 bucks including wines I don't think I've seen a better deal.
TRUFFLE DINNER IN HUDSON VALLEY
Il Barilotto in Fishkill NY is hosting their annual truffle dinner on Sunday November 22nd @ 6:00 p.m. I just booked for a party of four. We went last year and the meal was outstanding. The price isn't cheap but well worth the $150 price tag. Four courses (3 savory, 1 dessert). Black and white truffles to be used on all 3 savory courses plus wine pairings from Piedmont. It books up quick so if you want to really experience truffles paired with Barolos and Barbarescos call them right away. 845-897-4300. Go to www.culturebitch.com to read a review of last years event...."Worship of a Fun-guy or funghi"
Brazilian or Portuguese in Newark
One place; Forno's of Spain. Go have amazing Spanish fish and seafood with Sangria. The portions are overwhelming so don't over order.
Polpo Alla Ferria
Gambas with garlic sauce
One word; AMAZING. I go there everytime I'm headed on a trip out of Newark since there is no way I'm going to eat what's on that airplane for food
Fun (food related) things to do around CIA
go to warren cutlery. Just bring your credit card because it's a candy store for people who love to cook.
Terrapin in Rhinebeck and Bear Cafe in Bearsville (Woodstock)
Love Bear cafe....especially outside by the stream. It's a perfect spot to dine outside. I'm still wondering why people love Terrapin. I went 2x and both times found it very forgettable. (note I ate one time in the dining room and the other in the bistro)
Alternative to C.I.A. in Hyde Park?
Il Barilotto in Fishkill. It's about a 25 min drive but worth it. Arguably the best Italian in the area. Great wine list too. Only downside is that it is first come first serve so go early.
best burger
Great burgers but you need to order a few b/c they are so tiny. Great late night spot if you're on the UES where everything closes early!
best burger
Corner Bistro is the best but has been slipping lately. Try Pual's Burger Palace on St Marks Place (I know the name is so stupid) but the burgers are just juicy, messy to eat and DELICIOUS. Plus they serve steak fries.
Hudson Valley Restaurant Weeks - March 9-21 (Sunday-Friday)
Just had dinner at Il Barilotto for RW last night. Being a long time customer at Il Barilotto I was incredibly happy with the RW offerings. My wife and I couldn't believe how delicious the selections were. I had the crispy polenta appetizer and the slow roasted pork for my entree. I was so full I could barely eat my dessert. After going to other places for RW and witnessing how they were being chintzy on the portions and the item selections I was really satisfied with my experience at Il Barilotto. Service and ambiance first rate as usual.
P.S. They are featuring new Italian wines by the glass to go with your RW menu (in addition of course) and they were quite delicious so check it out.
