Does anyone know where to buy good cannoli shells?

I buy mine at Niccoli's on 16th st, when I don't make my own

phx - what place are you glad you gave a 2nd chance

The chef there now is Lenard Rubin. Some may remember him from Medizona and he is now at the Vig after stints with the Pointe resorts and SouthBridge project

Bakery (PHX)

karsh's bakery at 7th st and Missouri in the Basha's plaza reminds me of bakeries from my old Western NY days

Is my bottle of Barolo ruined?

If anything the added moisture helped keep the cork plump, thereby keeping air out of the wine. Keep it on its side and be very delicate when ready to open - use a wine basket if possible. Once the sediment is stirred up, it can take a long time to resettle.

Tucson: Farmer's Markets/CSAs?

The CSA noshing mentions might be Crooked Sky Farms. They drive down from the valley once a week, and I know the setup includes cheeses and meats as well. He has not certified as organic, but rather is stricter than the standards and avoids both pesticides and fertilizers. Heirloom stuff, and one of the few CSA farms that actually can produce year round because of locations in the valley, Duncan and Willcox. Check out www.crookedskyfarms.com for the Tucson info

Need restaurant suggestions (Central PHX)

TexAZ Grill, on the same intersection as Richardsons and Phx City Grill, has awesome chicken fried steak.

Italian Deli in Sunnyslope

Tony's is in Sunnyslope, Niccoli's would be considered North Central. If you want to travel a little, Romanelli's on 35th ave and Dunlap has a good selection and good deli case.

Resturants/Coffee Shops etc near the John C. Lincoln Hospital (PHX)

There is Corbin's bar and Grill, just down the street from Bomberos that serves burgers and more and is open late. Good Mexican can be found at Via Delossantos on Central just north of Dunlap. And the Art Institute culinary program offers lunch Wed - Fri. down the street at 23rd ave and Dunlap (disclaimer: I work there). There are some more options over by metrocenter, on the other side of the freeway, but it is a drive.

Scottsdale Area - Unique?

I have been to both in the last 6 months - service at Lon's was stellar, service at Vincents was less than expected - especially for a James Beard winner. Go with Lons

Scottsdale Area - Unique?

Binkleys is good as a destination, but not if you are looking for something uniquely southwestern. It is probably similar to what you would find in NY in a lot of respects.

I agree with Lon's, T Cooks (more mediterranean). Others to consider are Los Sombreros down near Tempe, and Atlas Bistro (a BYOB off a good wine shop)

Phx: Best Reuben sandwich?

Scott's Generations on 7th st and missouri (in the same plaza as basha's) is the best I've had in town
