Distrito drowning........ in queso!

$80 for a truly mediocre meal in a place where I expect more, I admire Jose Garces, have eaten at most of his places, he needs to get into this kitchen and taste a few things, I've had a few really good meals here in the past.

The trio of enchiladas and the huarache (which is now a pizza or flat bread if you ask me) relied on cheese way too much. Cheese is an easy palate pleaser, I love real Mexican food and want complex flavors from veggies, meat, tortillas ,chiles and herbs more than just the easy mouth feel and richness that cheese provides, it's cheating. Tortillas are an important flavor component and these were a bit soggy and not rich with corn flavor. They accidently charged us for something twice and didn't have the ceviche that I ordered. Don't care if it was Sunday night and half the place was closed, no excuse for meh food from this restauranteur (maybe he has too many restaurants) and this much $. The waiter was lovely!

My family ate SO much Entenmanns. Every scrabble and pinochle game, every break the fast, every shiva! I loved the frosted raspberry twist danish.
I bet Entenmanns is the sole cause of alot of Jewish diabetes.

Freeze them solid and grate them over ANYTHING that you eat. This also affords you the chance to have them all year long after the season is over. I'd kill for a meyer lemon tree!

I have make preserved lemons all the time. Meyer lemons are most like Moroccan lemons in that the skin is softer and the lemons are less acidic.

The New Goat Hollow in Mit. Airy

Was really looking forward to Goat Hollow reopening, the food I had there last week was not good and any restaurant that offers mussels with cheese curds (in one dish) should be spanked. Porkbelly dumplings were tasteless, lyonnaise salad had a fried instead of a poached egg and unexceptional lardons (which for $11 is unacceptable.) The frites seem to be those coated fries diners use only thin cut.I was expecting the best fries with moules frites especially since the chef was famous for them at Monks. The Mt Airy Restaurant Curse prevails!!!!!

Sorry no excuse for almond cranberry vinaigrette in a Mexican restaurant. Wish we had a great ,simple,authentic taqueria around here, Norristown and South Philly are too far. I have eaten at Mi Puebla several times over the years and have never had anything I liked, Just my taste.

I find Tiffin too rich and creamy and heavy, bring on the South Indian cuisine Tiffin!
