I really like the Adriatic.....really sorry to see it closed. Not too many of the "oldsters" left now except maybe for Jimmy's and Franks....Do any of you remember Net Lanes....good fresh seafood at a reasonable price?

The Adriatic Restaurant has been sold to Marilyn Schlossbach and a lot of demolition is going on there. So, she seems to be doing ok.

I did a review of Porta a couple weeks ago and no one responded. They have a great pizza, but certainly not typical Jersey style. I Certainly recommend it.

Mr. C's is right on the ocean in Allenhurst. Meals can be inconsistent, but been there to a few events and they did a nice job.

Great Pizza!
Went to Porta in Asbury Park last night. The restaurant is a large, garage-like structure with bench seats, and rustic tables, all shared.
They offer a selection of appetizers, pastas and desserts, but the prime reason for going here is their Pizza. It's not your usual Jersey Pizza. Unusual toppings on a great crust are offered.
I had a large Bib Lettuce/walnut salad and a Margarite Pizza.They were a good size, about enough for two people with average appetites..
There was a pretty good crowd for a wintry Weds. BTW, there is free parking in Asbury on Weds.

Japanese in Manasquan/Wall/Brick?
There is a Japanese restaurant on Rt. 71 in Manasquan...Asahi. I've been there but since I'm really not an expert on Japanese food, I can't really say if it was good Japanese or not. I did like my food.

I realize that we all have different tastes and preferences...mine is just not for the food served at most chain restaurants. So, no, I don't crave that kind of food.
If I want inexpensive and good Italian, I'll go one of the MANY local Italian eateries instead of Olive Garden..

i'm sorry but I can't believe that we are getting another Chain restaurant. There are so many good places to eat in Monmouth County that I don't get the popularity of these places.

New Steak Restaurant in Asbury Park
Went to Ivan's and Andy's Prime on Cookman Ave. last night. Had a nice Romaine salad, but did ask for less dressing since I had heard they are heavy-handed with it. Only complaint was that the croutons were small and store-bought.
My filet-mignon steak was cooked perfectly and was excellent. Had a side of very good mashed sweet potatoes.
Service was excellent. The restaurant was very pleasant inside. But, I think it could get noisy with a full house. One nice feature is that they have a parking lot which can be accessed from Lake Ave. (right next to Moonstruck).
