Was there Saturday. Very intimate booth and a great meal. The Beer and Cheese soup is top notch and the steaks are delicious. I had the Cowboy with bone marrow and my DC had the NY Strip with Bleu Cheese butter. It is nice to be in a small room that is quiet with great booth seating. A unique dining experience in downtown Boston. |

Unique Regional Foods in Boston I'm originally from elsewhere. When I think of something I had never had before I moved here it would be the "New England Style" hot dog bun (only brown on top) and the hot dogs with natural casings so that they snap when you bite them. Maine's red snappers being the most extreme version. However, I can't vouch that one can't find these elsewhere. Other things that are hard to find elsewhere on restaurant menus: steak tips and baked cod/scrod. |

Sel de la Terre Back Bay: CLOSED The first thing that popped into my head is that the Seaport has claimed another victim. I always found the Back Bay location to be top notch and it will be missed. |

Best Cheesesteak in Boston/Cambridge/Somerville I'm partial to Rondo's on West Broadway in Southie. No frills but solid Steak and Cheese. |

Favorite Happy Hour Food Specials in Boston? Local 149 in Southie has half priced oysters and charcuterie every weekday from 4:00 - 6:00. |

Time: 9:00PM My question: is this OK? (note:this scenario actually played out a bit differently but those of us at dinner discussed the ethics of the scenario under these circumstances) |

ISO Pretzel bread, anybody doing this? Swiss Bakers has a stand at the Dewey Square farmers market on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They sell pretzel rolls. Additionally, Barlow's on A street in Southie does a reuben on a pretzel roll. It's pretty good. |

Where can I find delicious Frito chili pie? Staff Meal food truck is now making a Frito Pie burrito. Haven't had it yet but their other stuff is great |

My wife was a waitress at Bertucci's in her former life and has some stories about people ordering extra rolls for a "direct deposit" into a large purse. So has anyone actually been to G23 this week and care to report? |

You inspired me to book...hope it's good |

I heard it may be BYOB....did you happen to find out or notice? |

Spanish Wine in Boston/Cambridge? This thread made me think of a wine I had in Spain that I haven't been able to find anywhere. I did a little research and Select Liquors in Allston came up. Has anyone been there? I've driven by the location numerous times but can't recall ever seeing it. Anyone used their online services? They have a pretty robust website for selection of Spanish wine. Brunch with a free alcoholic drink in Boston? Stats in Southie includes one drink with the price of brunch. |

Taqueria Jalisco, East Boston: stop the presses! Thanks to this post I tried it this weekend. This is a great spot. I got two birria and one carnitas taco(s). The carnitas really stole the show and they give you a large portion of meat inside the taco (two corn tortillas to keep from getting dogged through). The accompanying pico de gallo and hot salsa were great as well. Hopefully I am not addicted but living in Southie it may be too easy to head over there when I want a meal with any flavor. |

The menu could use a little consolidation. I felt like they were trying to do way too much. Especially for such a small space. It would be nice if they found one thong they did really well and go with that as opposed to being average at a little bit of everything. |

I agree with most of the recs already in the thread. With one exception, I prefer My Diner on A Street & W. third to Mul's for diner fare. Amrhein's food seems to be devoid of taste. Steak Tips at Seapoint are decent, not much else is though. Cafe Mamtaz and American Provisions are great additions and hopefully a sign of things to come. There's a Polish deli on Boston Street that makes awesome keilbasa subs but the name escapes me right now. I go back and forth between Olympic and Alfredo's for pizza depending on the mood for Greek or Italian style pizza. If you include Seaport then the best pizza is their Buffalo Chicken pizza. Best Guinness is at Blackthorn, coldest bud bottle at L Street Tavern and best "scene" at Stats. Where's the best burger in Southie? ----- L Street Tavern Amrheins Restaurant Seapoint Restaurant American Provisions Cafe Mamtaz |

I second the Trader Joe's rec. Their handmade flour tortillas are way better than anything at the regular grocery store. |

Stop & Shop in Brighton has it. It's in the Mexican aisle. They carry the Goya brand and another brand. |

Olympic Pizza on Broadway is surprisingly good. Pepperoni under the cheese. Calzone's and breakfast sandwiches from Sidewalk Cafe are good (M & 4th). Junction has good wings (.25 during Sox games). The other good stuff has been covered already in the thread. |

Best Delivery Pizza (allston/brighton/brookline) Imperial in Brighton Center is really good Italian style pizza. Granted, their delivery driver will show up 20 minutes late smoking a butt, but the pizza is good and cheap. If you can possibly take-out from there, do it |
