Northeastern Parents weekend restaurant suggestions please

I second Eastern Standard. My daughters (one is at Northeastern also) love it there. We have recommended it to many people, and all have enjoyed it. Maybe we'll see you there :)

Place to watch the Sox and eat in Boston tonight

We are visiting our daughter at Northeastern, so that area or the Back Bay would be great!

Lunch Kenmore area during college visits

Sorry if this is repetitive, but I couldn't find much on the board. We will be in Boston next week doing college visits and also a Sox game. What is a decent place to eat in the Kenmore area for lunch? We will be eating dinner at Eastern Standard and would like something different. Thanks so much!

Bread and Roses also makes a delicious chausson aux pommes.

Cancale and Mont St Michel

You won't need a car in St. Malo. In fact, a car is a nuisance within the walls. Enjoy- I'm jealous. Also, you will love Cancale. Having the oysters at the beach is truly memorable.

Thanks, all! We went to Southwark and enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the cocktails and a great goat cheese appetizer. Great rec!

Place for Drinks before dinner at Bistrot la Minette

Coming into Philly for anniversary dinner next Saturday at Bistrot la Minette. We're not familiar with this area and would like to have drinks before dinner (wine or cocktails). What's in this area that would fit the bill? If it has outdoor seating, all the better.

Finally taking my 5 year old daughter to Paris for a couple of days - advice?

We ate at Fish about a month ago with our 2 teen daughters. I think you'll be fine with a 5 year old as it's a rather noisy place (in a good way). Food was delicious, service also good. Be sure to reserve as it's a popular spot. Have fun!

July Paris Restaurant Intinerary - Please critique and suggest!

We are a family of 4 (with 2 teen daughters) travelling to France with a week in Paris beginning 22 July. We will be renting an apartment in the 6th, so will be able to have breakfast and at least one dinner chez nous. My critieria for restaurants is somewhat limited, as one daughter is does not eat fish, and other than foie gras, we do not like offal. Therefore, it is somewhat necessary for each restaurant to have a varied menu (thus ruling out Les Papilles). We had hoped to include La Regalade as our splurge meal, but they are en vacances during our stay. Our choices are more of the "every day" bistros. After much researching here on the forum, here's my list:

Day 1 - Dans Les Landes - do they serve all day, as we will be seriously jet-lagged and might like to eat earlier than normal?

Day 2 - Maison du Jardin

Day 3 - Fish la Boissonerie

Day 4 - Pasco

Day 5 - L'Atlas

Day 6 - lunch at Le Reminet (Louvre at night)

Day 7 - Bistrot d'Henri

Please let me know if any of these are seriously a no-go. Also, any similar restaurant suggestions are welcome in case some of these are closed for vacation.

Casual Restaurant Recs in Dinan?

Does anyone have any favorites in Dinan? Looking for something in between creperies and high end restaurants such as bistros or brasseries. We're a family of four (2 teens) and we'll be there in late July.

uhockey's thoughts on Paris Restaurants - Part 3 - Guy Savoy, Josephine Chez Dumonet, Michel Rostang, Le Regalade St.Honore, Le Pre-Catelan, L'AOC

uhockey - thanks so much for your awesome reports (have been following all of them!). After reading Le Regalade, I think we can actually do this one (we'll be in Paris in July with 2 teen daughters). One question, does anyone know when they will be on vacation?

Reporting Back on my week in Paris!

Just googled the Genin millefeuille. Oh my goodness!! Truly a work of art that we must seek out particularly based on your description! Hopefully, the store won't be en vacances the last 2 weeks of July. Thanks for a great post!

Is it possible to find aiguillette de canard at a restaurant in Paris without spending a fortune? It sounds delicious!

Gloucester/Rockport Seafood - What's open this weekend?

Will be in the area on Saturday night and would like to get steamers/lobster. I know many places are seasonal, so what will be open that's chow-worthy this weekend?

ISO Light Breakfast/Great coffee Back Bay

We are coming to Boston on Friday and would like to get something light (yogurt/fruit/muffin) for breakfast on Saturday before lunch at La Verdad. Thought of Au Bon Pain, but hopefully there's someplace better with good coffee in the Back Bay area.

Paris Brasseries

I know that the big brasseries in Paris have gone downhill regarding food over the last 10 years or so. However, we would like to go to one just to show our daughters what they are like. Is is allowable just to go and have a drink and entree (appetizer)? We are going to Brittany after Paris so don't need to do the whole shellfish thing at Le Dome. Don't want to break the bank either.

Travelling to Paris late July - how far in advance to make reservations?

Thanks, Souphie! We are completely flexible (arriving 22 July) and I also have others on my list.

Travelling to Paris late July - how far in advance to make reservations?

We are a family of 4 going to Paris (and Brittany) in late July. Most of the restaurants on my short list are bistros, nothing super fancy or popular. Some of them are:

Fish La Boissonerie
Chez Janou
Bistrot d'Henri
Au Dernier Metro
La Folle Avoine
Le Saotico

We'll be arriving on a Friday completely jet-lagged. I was thinking of any early dinner then at either Au Dernier Metro or Le Saotico.

So, how far in advance to I need to make reservations? Last time we were in Paris, we either called the day before or same day.
Thanks!

Creating tasty memories for an 11 year old...

What a wonderful post! We are taking our daughters to France next summer - a week in Paris and a week en Bretagne- and it will be their first trip as well. I have saved this thread for future reference!

And to reply to your question - I first went to Paris when I was 10. We had dinner at Le Souffle which I remember as being so different and delicious. Also, having pate de fois gras on baguette and all of the patisserie windows - it was so difficult to choose just one!

Uhockey Reviews Day 2 Philadelphia – Sam’s Morning Glory, Beiler’s Bakery, Miller’s Twist, LaCroix, Tacconelli’s, Modo Mio

Loved all about Modo Mio when we went in April - except that the bread was doughy in the middle!

Can't miss foods at Amada during RW?

We snagged reservations at Amada for Monday and plan to do the prix-fixe RW menu. It seems as if many of their regular tapas items are on the RW menu. What are the ones we must have (or should miss)?
