The Farm House Restaurant @ Skippack Golf Club

We also went for dinner on Friday night and had a much more pleasant experience!

We were seated in the dining room, and although there were people in the bar, they were not at all bothersome!

We each had the special salad of the evening, which was mixed greens with brie, strawberries, and delicious pumpkin seed brittle! Reasonably priced at $7 each.

Instead of entrees, we ordered a bunch of apps and split them. We had a bowl of the vegetarian black bean chili, the quesadilla and the hummus platter. The portion sizes were reasonable and the food was very tasty.

The menu has similarities to Cafe at Cedars, but she has also added burgers, wings, etc., still all prepared with a healthy flair.

We skipped dessert, and just had coffee. The total, before tip was $56, in my opinion, not overly priced.

Once outside seating is available, this will be a great place with a beautiful view.

Parkside...any recent reviews???

We have eaten there 4 times over the past couple of months. I must say that I have felt queasy 3 of those times while and after dining there. My stomach is usually not that sensitive, but something there does not agree with me. Interestingly enough, I have ordered something different every time I have gone.

It is a nice addition to the area, but I am not sure I will be returning.

Looking for Restaurant Suggestions on Main Line

Thanks so much for the great suggestions everyone! I have never heard of the New Tavern before, but it looks like it definitely fits the requirements for this dinner. The menu and the location is perfect!

Again, thanks for all your help!

Looking for Restaurant Suggestions on Main Line

Looking for a nice restaurant to take the in-laws in the Ardmore, Narberth, Haverford, Bryn Mawr (etc.) area. I am not too familiar with restaurants in that area.

They like old-school meat and potato places, nothing fancy, nothing funky and no ethnic restaurants.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Inn at St. Peter's Village - Anyone been recently?

Thanks for your feedback! We went to the Inn at St. Peter's last night, so I thought I would report back.

First let me say that the setting is absolutely gorgeous! It is rare to find a restaurant in this area that has such a beautiful outdoor setting! No complaint there!

We were seated and ordered drinks, which arrived promptly. We placed our order for dinner, then were left alone with no bread, no salads, no water refill and no one checking on us for OVER half an hour! We finally had to track down another waitress in order to check on the status of our salads. She promptly brought them to us and when we requested the bread, we were told that it was the bread servers first night and he was a little confused on the table numbers.

We split a Caesar salad and an antipasto and they were delicious! Very fresh and enjoyable! The bread arrived, nice and warm and with a lovely herb-infused oil.

The entrees that we ordered, frutti de mar for my husband and chicken with artichokes for me, were good. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his dish. It was served on risotto, which he normally doesn't care for, but loved it in this dish! My chicken dish was okay, but it was served with a side of pasta, which came with a red sauce instead of the white wine lemon sauce which came with the chicken. I would have preferred the white wine sauce as I thought the red sauce was too heavy for the dish.

The service from the waitstaff seemed to improve after our complaint about the salads. We did notice that the owner(?) was paying a lot of attention to the table next to us, who appeared to be some type of big wig, while ignoring every other table outside. This seemed very obvious and inappropriate. If you are going to make your rounds and check on the status of tables, please check on every table and not just those that you feel are special.

All in all, the restaurant is a nice location with good food, they just need to work out some kinks in the service. We will give them another shot.

Inn at St. Peter's Village - Anyone been recently?

The Inn at St. Peter's Village was closed for the last several months and recently re-opened on May 1st. It looks like they have a whole new menu, which looks more casual. Has anyone been there since they re-opened?

The reviews in the past have been mixed and I was wondering if the recent changes make it worth the trip there for a special occassion dinner this weekend.

Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks!

Help - Blossom or Counter?

I am trying to decide between Blossom or Counter to celebrate my birthday this weekend after the theater. I have read mixed reviews and am not sure which way to go.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Thanks so much to small h and rutgers2 for your replies! I will definitely look into all of the restaurants that you suggested!

This is truly a help to someone not familiar with the city!

ISO Vegetarian Restaurant

My husband and I will be coming to NY at the end of August (Sunday night) to see a show (Hilton Theater) and spend the night at the Bryant Park Hotel (40 W. 40th Street). Are there any good vegetarian restaurants or non-veg restaurants nearby that will have more than one option for me?

I am not extremely familiar with the city, but if possible would like to find a restaurant that is within walking distance near the hotel and theater.

I prefer to stay away from strictly Asian/Indian restaurants.

Based on some searching on the boards, I have found 4 restaurants that look great, but that will require cabs to get there. They are:

Blossom
Pure Food and Wine
Candle Cafe
Counter

These would be a last alternative in case we can't find something else. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Green Lane Lunch?

Good Luck! I live in the area and restaurant selections are limited, especially for lunch! Probably your best bet is Wynn's Creekside Inn, which is located in Green Lane Park. A pretty old stone building with a decent menu. Here is the website : www.wynnscreeksideinn.com
