Weekday South Philly Lunch?

I'm meeting a friend and her 12 year old son for a movie on a weekday afternoon (a Wednesday), and we'd like to grab lunch somewhere before the movie. Are their any decent non-chain places in South Philly that are open for lunch on a weekday? Parameters are Christian to Oregon, Columbus Blvd. to 9th Street/Passyunk Avenue.

St. Louis/Frontenac - ISO restaurant with vegan options

Price isn't really an issue...just that our vegan and vegetarian can eat too!

Amada - Recent Visit

I loved everything I ate at Amada with the exception of the octopus. Eh.

But holy crap, their sangria is stellar. And the oysters were fantastic.

Cupcakes in Philadelphia: '08 Edition

Fork makes a decent cupcake. Their carrot cake cupcakes with buttercream frosting are excellent, as are the peach cupcakes with lemon buttercream.

I also love Flying Monkey chocolate cupcakes with lavender icing. Granted, I haven't had them in a while - from the sounds of things they may have changed their recipe.

St. Louis/Frontenac - ISO restaurant with vegan options

I'll be in St. Louis (the Frontenac area) in November for a conference and need to find a restaurant that will accommodate the diverse dining needs of my staff. We have rabid meat eaters down to strict vegans. It doesn't matter where in St. Louis the restaurant is located.

I'd love to find a restaurant that sources their ingredients locally, but really I'd be happy with a restaurant with great food that has more than one or two vegan options....or that has a chef willing to make changes to certain menu items to make the vegan or vegetarian.

Suggestions? Ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Where to buy NJ seafood in Philly or burbs?

We live so close to the NJ coast, I thought it would be easy to find NJ seafood at fish markets. Alas, not so! Most of the fish market employees don't have a firm grasp on where the fish is caught. And if they do, there doesn't seem to be much for sale that's caught in NJ.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to find NJ fish in Philadelphia or the burbs? I'd drive as far as Camden County in Jersey to get it...if I could find someplace that sells it!

The only place I've found is some shack on Calcon Hook Road out near the airport - and they only sell Jersey-caught bluefish. Ideas? Suggestions?

Seeking large bar venues in Frontenac

Thanks Alan! This is a tremendous help!

Is walking a mile not do-able from the hotel? I'm in Philadelphia where walking a mile is easy.

Seeking large bar venues in Frontenac

I'm organizing a social event for 200+ people in Frontenac later this year. We'll be right around the Hilton St. Louis Frontenac, and it would be great if I could find a couple places to investigate within walking distance. The venue doesn't need to be anything fancy - just a place to drink!

Any ideas?
