rec needed from Boynton Beach to WPB
Couco Pazzo is definitely a good choice for Italian and seafood. The Cioppino is worth a try there. Bizarre is a pretty cool place to go for a date with the upstairs being more romantic. There are also a couple of EXCELLENT Italian restaurants right down the street. Rustico Italiano on Lucerne as well as Paradiso Ristorante also on Lucerne! Enjoy wherever you end up!!

Tentazione is good food, big portions and moderate priced Italian. Seafood . . . I would say Snappers in Boynton Beach has good food, great portions and reasonable prices. It's at the SE corner of Old Boynton Rd and Military Trail just north of Boynton Beach Blvd almost caddy corner to Tentazione. I love Bonefish grill on Gateway and Congress. BangBang shrimp and for an entree the Wild Drunken Monk! I had it up in Orlando a few weeks ago and it was fantastic! Bonefish is a bit noisy but fun, Snappers is a bit older for the early birds and Tentazione is probably the most mellow but better for Italian (obviously)! Good luck!
Lobster Roll in Delray
I was told previously by someone that worked there. Did some checking and it turns out they no longer work there. Disgruntled ex-employee maybe? I spoke to someone else and they say it is shipped in FRESH 3 times a week. If that's the case then I apologize for any misinformation. I still believe that the best way to do it is to steam on premise daily and my biggest point of disapproval is the fact that they use only claw meat in their lobster rolls which is supposed to be their trademark product!!
The Office in Delray Beach Snags Mark Militello
HotMelly . . . you have the right idea. The only problem I have with cooking at home is that eventually you will be disappointed! Not in your own food but in a restaurant. I spent about 10 years working in restaurants and I LOVE food. I love to cook and I know good food so when I go to a restaurant I expect that it is going to be at least as good as I can do and many times that leads to a disappointing meal. Some of the people on these boards have more money than tastebuds and TOO much opinion. I've been in Florida for 30+ years and I've seen so many restaurants come and go. The Office will be around for a while because it's a cool place to "hang out" and drink (there's your profit), not because people love paying $15.00 for a hamburger! Linda Bean's on the other hand probably won't make it past the summer due to an inferior product of all claw meat that is previously frozen. If she would ship her lobsters in fresh, steam them on premise and include tail on the roll, she'd have a better product and a higher rate of customer satisfaction. People that open restaurants forget one thing . . . one bad experience can sink you. If you consistently put out quality food, have good service, fair prices and some ambiance, you'll be around for a while. The joy of eating comes from indulging as many senses as possible at the same time. Smell, taste, sight, texture and your surroundings all come into play when creating the experience that a meal can be. Don't let the haters keep you from posting . . . your opinion is just as important!

Lobster Roll in Delray
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! Nice to hear someone that has taste buds and common sense! I posted back in December that for $15.00 it should at least match the stuff you can get in Maine for the same price! Linda Bean has apparently taken any money left to her by the LL Bean fortune and chosen to get into something that she doesn't know enough about. She has bought numerous docks and weigh stations in Maine to attempt to corner the market and then has the audacity to serve CRAP! The lobster CLAW meat is flash frozen in Maine and sent down here to sell to unsuspecting diners and ignorant fools that think they know good food. Check out B&G in Boston (it's not your traditional but it's a tasty twist) and when in Maine Red's Eats will pack ALL the meat from at least a one pound lobstah including the tail! She's sending out coupons in mailers now!!! For anyone who has the lack of common sense and defends this garbage as quality food . . . I'll see you there for the goodbye party at the end of the summer if she makes it that long!
Delray Beach recommendations from Restaurant.com?
I checked on Restaurant.com and I would highly suggest Dolce Amore Cafe off of Atlantic in Pineapple Grove on 2nd Avenue. Great food, nice portions and excellent service! Nice area that is not as congested as Atlantic and I don't think they have $15.00 burgers like The Office!!
Chicago-style Italian Beef
Try Chicago Joes on 412 E Ocean in Boynton. Just west of the RR tracks. Sandwiches are PACKED with meat and comes with fries. Very reasonably priced too!
The Office in Delray Beach Snags Mark Militello
Jan Norris has some more of the details on Chef Mark Militello and Chef Allen Susser and their involvement with the Delray restaurant scene.

New England Hot Dog Rolls in South Florida
Try the Super Target stores. I know the one in Boynton on Congress always has really fresh hot dog buns there. I don't remember if they are split.
Lobster Roll in Delray
While I respect your right to an opinion, I must disagree with it. My objection on a cost basis is in reference to a sandwich. Your comparison to a steak dinner is something like apples to oranges. Prices for top quality beef have not dropped (to my knowledge) but demand for lobster is down considerably. Linda Bean also has the ability to continue to squeeze the cost even lower since she owns her own lobster wharves and buying stations. Nobody on Atlantic Avenue own their own ranch or salmon stocked lake and I don't think David Manero owns a chicken farm.
I have not bothered trying the crab or the shrimp roll and honestly doubt that I would be pleased with them either but to each his own. The lobster rolls are not like the best you would get in Maine, Massachusetts or even Connecticut. I think that my initial post should have been more explanatory so that people could understand that I wasn't being cheap but that if I was going to pay $15.00 for a sandwich, it had better be very close to what I'm used to (and it's not).
I did not complain because the lobster is flown in. I complained because it is frozen. I don't care if it's flash frozen, it's still frozen. I would gladly take you up on your challenge to be able to discern fresh lobster from previously frozen. You can't compare fresh seafood to previously frozen. Go get some shrimp with the heads on fresh off the boat and then go get some that are previously frozen. Cook them with very little seasoning and tell me you can't tell the difference!! I know I can.
Linda Bean's is a nice addition in appearance and concept but I don't think it will last. I recommend that you buy a fresh lobster, have it steamed, take the meat out and chill it. Get some fresh hot dog buns at a local bakery and cut them open, lightly butter them and toast them on a flat surface. Take your cold lobster, mix 1 teaspoon of mayo per 4 ounces of lobster and put it on your toasted, buttered bun. That's a lobster roll! No extra flavors like this Bean place. Just like you would get at Red's Eats in Wiscasset for $14.00 that has almost a whole lobster on there. That includes the tail! Not just claw meat like Bean's! If you are from New England and expect quality product and service . . . I would suggest that you stay away from this place!
Lobster Roll in Delray
They're open but you’ve got to be kidding? $15.00 for a quarter pound of lobster (claw) meat on a roll. The stuff is not even fresh! It’s packed in Maine and shipped in. If you don't know anything about the lobster market right now USA today recently had a story about wholesale Maine lobster being $2.25 per pound!!! And Linda Bean recently bought 3 wharves and buying stations in Maine to help develop a little monopoly of sorts! If I want a lobster roll I’ll go down to Joseph’s Market in Boca, get 2 POUNDS steamed while I shop for $18.00, pick up some fresh baked hot dog rolls at a bakery and have enough for a family of four!! The economy sucks!! Where does somebody get off charging $15.00 for a sandwich? I’ll give them a year!! Get through a summer on Atlantic Avenue with minimal foot traffic and no big businesses around to generate a lunch crowd. I’m sure all of the unemployed and underemployed will be lining up to spend 1 night’s dinner for a family of four on one sandwich! I own my own business so I understand profit and loss but, GREED KILLS!

Good seafood restaurant in West Palm Beach, FL area?
I just recommended a seafood restaurant to someone else and although it's not on the water and not organic or anything like that, I would have to say that Snappers in Boynton Beach has consistently had good food, great portions and reasonable prices. I've been there numerous times with my wife and daughters and after taking my parents, they were so impressed they have been taking all of their friends when they go out! It's at the SE corner of Old Boynton Rd and Military Trail just north of Boynton Beach Blvd.
Broward to Boca, need place for Mom's birthday this Sunday!
If you are looking for good food at a reasonable price I would say to head to Boynton Beach and Snappers. Get there early and order any of the seafood. I've been there with family many times and it's always excellent! The food is fresh, the portions are plentiful and the price is not too high. It's just north of Boynton Beach Blvd on Military Trail. Not much further than Lauderdale.
Delray Beach Breakfast
New to Chowhound. Cool place for food info. Wife and I have been in Delray for 13 years and have seen places come and go! We tried the Garlic Fest the second year they had it and couldn't get over paying to get in and then paying for everything else! On top of that . . . nothing was very impressive. Needless to say, we have not been back!
