I know I will get flack for this. Luger is not one of the best in Brooklyn, it is the best and the best in NYC. My opinion only. |

Great Italian or Greek near LaGuardia? In Astoria I would go for Trattoria L'Incontoro or Picola Venezia for great Italian food, For terrific Greek food I would try Taverna Kyclades, Agnanti or Tellys Taverna. All great choices. |

Definitely do not cancel Luger. It is by far the best steakhouse. A lot of people complain about the service, but it has never been an issue with me. I find the service great. And as for the steaks the porterhouse is great. |

Cant go wrong with either. Both terrific and top notch. Enjoy. |

Has anyone been. Does not get much discussion on this board. If anyone has been there please let me know how the food and service is. Thanks in advance. |

Arthur Avenue Experience — Huge Disappointment FrancescaP I totally agree with you. I come from Brooklyn and have eaten at Zero Otto Nove and Roberto. I find the Italian restaurants in Brooklyn and Staten Island much better. I do not see the attraction. |

What's the best Greek restaurant? Pylos and Ethos are both good fairly priced Greek restaurants in the city. If you want upscale Greek Estatoria Milos is very good but very expensive. Foodwhisperers suggestions are also great. I personally think Taverna Kyclades has the best fish and very reasonably priced. |

I have to say I was to JG and DP. Love both of them. I don't think you can go wrong with either. JG service is more formal. Happy birthday. |

Those certainly were the good old days. I remember a hot dog being 12c and a corned beef on club 35c. Now the prices have gone crazy on everything. |

Foodwhisperer It is funny you mention Gorelick's and Grabsteins. I grew up in East New York and Gorelick's was the deli in the neighborhood, very good stuff. I also remember going to Grabsteins with my friends for the Romanian Tenderloin Steak which was great as well as the deli. For pastrami I think Katz is the greatest by far. |

Where can I buy butternut squash soup in Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Sunset Park in Brooklyn? |
|
|
David's Brisket House - New Location in Bay Ridge Have heard great things about David, so today I went in and got a $10 pastrami sandwich, which was absolutely delicious, more than I really expected, right up there with Katz, which to me is the best. Staff is very friendly. |

Lupa, Maialino, Locanda Verde, or Scarpetta for an anniversary dinner on a Tuesday night? 2nd Del Posto, first class all the way. |

Need to find the Best Pistachio Gelato in NYC If you want to come to Brooklyn, Villabate on 70th St and 18th Ave. makes very good pistachio gelato, I always get it there. |
|

We've got dinner reservations at Avra Estiatorio, BUT... I would second Pan's recommendation of going to Astoria, much cheaper than the city Greek restaurants and much better. |
|
|
Luger. |

I know we're on the Outer Boro Board but since you put in Frank Peppe, I have to second Frank Pepe in New Haven. The one in Yonkers is not quite as good. Also DiLorenzo in Robbinsville, NJ makes a terrific pizza. |

Thanks a lot for your help |

Want to go there for a special birthday. Haven't seen anything on Chowhound about it. Please give me some information about the restaurant and food and noise level. Thanks in advance. |

Janie Funny you mentioned Villabate. I am a big fan of Villabate. My wifes favorite cake is strawberry short cake and last year we ordered one from Villabate and nobody liked it. |

Does anybody know of a bakery in Brooklyn that makes a great strawberry short cake birthday cake. thanks in advance. |

Went to Blue on Saturday night. The place is fixed up very nice. We ware five if us. The wait for a table was one hour. The place and bar is very crowded, and very noisy. As to the food, the food was great. We had for apps the seared tuna w/wasabi, grilled calamari, crab fritters and mussels, all very good. For mains three had the whole sea bass, I had the ribeye, and my granddaughter had the seared tuna, all very good. Only complaint is the noise level, you cant here yourself talking. Enjoy if you go. |

I am thinking of going to Limani for a special occasion. Any feedback on food, service and atmosphere. |

Best Greek restaurant in ASTORIA and bakery too(Greek) for dessert! It is all personal taste like i said. I dont knock anybodys opinion, just give mine. Certain people love certain restaurants and go back to them. I go back to the restaurants that I like also. I also enjoy Kyclades fish very much. Have been to Milos in Manhattan with very inflated prices and find it no better than the Greek places in Astoria. |
|

Best Greek restaurant in ASTORIA and bakery too(Greek) for dessert! Everything you dislike I like. I like the Greek salad and I think the fish is really good. Obviouly you and I have different tastes. Thats about it. You bring up Olive Garden and Cheesecake Factory. Obviously some people like them. I am not one of them. Each to his own. |
|
|
Best Greek restaurant in ASTORIA and bakery too(Greek) for dessert! Each to his own. You are entitled to your opinion. People dont wait on line at Kyclades because the food is bad. |
|
|
Best Greek restaurant in ASTORIA and bakery too(Greek) for dessert! I have to differ with you. I find Kyclades to be by far the best in Astoria. I live in Bay Ridge and have eaten at Agnanti there and in Astoria and find Kyclades heads and shoulders above it. |

Thinking of going to Spice Market. Has anybody been there recently? If so how is the food and service and restaurant overall. Thanks in advance. |
|

If Ithey didn't call after the second call with a yes or no answer that would be the end of it for me. If I were you I would never go back. There are plenty of other great restaurants in NY and if this is their policy I would definitely forget about them. It is not a matter of food, it is a matter of principal, especially you being a good customer. |

Blue Ribbon: Park Slope vs. West Village I am one of them from Bay Ridge. I am totally annoyed by your comment about Bay Ridge people. And what is wrong with Bay Ridge people going to Blue Ribbon. We pay the same price as you do. I think you owe all Bay Ridge people an apology. |
