Paris- Brasserie/Bistro Challenge

One special meal in Paris
We're headed to Paris for our honeymoon in mid-May and though we don't have a ton of money to spend, we have budgeted one really special (aka expensive) meal while we're there. If you could recommend a quintessential, classic Paris restaurant, what would it be? (Hopefully a place I can make a reservation 7 weeks out.) I don't want to say price is of no concern, but we're OK to spend a good amount for a really special evening. I'd love your input!! Thanks in advance :)
Tea party: report and advice
I know it may sound like a corny title, but TeaTime magazine (on many newsstands, just often hiding!) has a lot of really great tea recipes. They're very forward-thinking and the ingredients are top-notch. Sometimes you wouldn't know it by the whole "look" of the mag, but the recipes are fantastic. They also do a lot of tea-infused recipes. Really, a great mag if you ever see one on a newsstand!
Need a casual Friday night place near Hotel Monaco
Wow, wonderful suggestions! Thank you!
Need a casual Friday night place near Hotel Monaco
Hi there, coming to Chicago for the first time for my bachelorette party. I am the only food-lover in the group, so it's falling to me for restaurant ideas! We want to do tapas on saturday (any votes for iberico vs mercat??)
However, what I need is an idea for Friday night--a lot of the group is arriving later, so we need a casual, fun place that's semi-close to our hotel, Hotel Monaco (225 North Wabash). I don't want bar food or chains. I want something that's unique to Chicago.
I hope this isn't an impossible request! Please chime in if you have any suggestions!!
Other places I'm dragging my girlfriends around to try:
Cemitas Puebla for saturday lunch
Sola for sunday brunch (but other suggestions are welcome!)
Pop champagne bar
Thanks in advance! I am so looking forward to being in Chicago, mainly to EAT! :)
Birmingham Dinner on a Sunday Night?
Our Sunday night tradition is Chez Lulu in English Village...we love their Napoletana pizza. It's MUCH less expensive than Jinsei or Table or Icon. Also love the soup and salad from Tria Market in Homewood. Not a restaurant, but another Sunday night staple in our house.
Looking for a totally CASUAL FQ restaurant
I'm planning my best friend's bachelorette party for Nov., and we're staying in the FQ on Magazine St. We're eating @ Cochon on Friday, so Saturday I'd love to find a totally low-key, elbows-on-the-table place for good oysters...preferably in the FQ. We are almost all very "foodie" gals, and love a good meal...but it doesn't need to be fancy--we want something really fun/casual and with local feel.
Any suggestions?? Thanks so much in advance!
Jacksonville to Charleston: Foodie teachers need spring break sustenance!
If you're in Jacksonville/St. Augustine area and are up for a little drive off the beaten path, definitely go to Outback Crab Shack (theoutbackcrabshack.com) for elbows-on-the-table seafood. It's one of those no shoes, no problem kinds of places, with super laid-back atmosphere, good, fresh seafood and lots of ice-cold beer. Hush puppies and peel-and-eat shrimp are not to be missed. We prefer the broiled platter over the fried, but both are great.
Korean in Birmingham?
Thanks--I'd like to try the one @ the back of the market. Any recommendations on what to order?
Carnitas in Birmingham
Are you speaking of Gordo's? (I know Gordo's has a mercado attached...and the sign out front says both Gordo's and El Mercado.) Anyway, we went during the week for chicken and barbacoa (lamb) tacos and they were perfection, for relative pennies apiece. And several types of salsa (verde and 2 v. spicy red ones, one that tasted smoky/mole-ish) were in a little salad bar, along with chopped cilantro, radishes, onions, etc., so the salsa is available there not just on weekends but during the week, as well. (If dax was referring to Gordos/Mercado.) I can't wait to try the Saturdays-only carnitas...in fact, that may be in order this weekend! And I hear it sells out quickly, so if you're going, go early. Oh, and they were very patient with my very bad spanish, and my boyfriend's semi-good spanish :)
Korean in Birmingham?
Are there Korean restaurants in B'ham? I've not seen/heard of any. Recommendations?
Italian Food in B'ham???
Bettola in the Martin Biscuit building is my favorite for traditional Naples-style thin-crust pizzas, great antipasti selections, and a decent wine list. Prices are fair, and atmosphere gets high marks, as well. Fresh and delish.
Best Brunch Atlanta - Party of four please
Not a buffet, but JCT Kitchen (1198 Howell Mill Rd) is fabulous. More lunch than brunch, but the food is to-die and the atmosphere is special yet relaxed. Prices are reasonable and the menu is varied. Highly recommend!
Best Brunch in B-ham?
Looking for affordable, yummy Sunday brunch spot in Birmingham (please don't suggest Five Points Grill, as we have had two embarrassingly bad meals there and will never return.) Recommendations?
Further Birmingham discussion - what about these places?
Went to Cobb Lane in January and was VERY disappointed. Food was mediocre at best and it's too dark and quiet in the back room. Will not return!
LOVE, love, love Cosmos. No fru-fru, just plain AWESOME pizza (and calzones...green olives and sausage, yummm) and though I haven't been to many brunch spots in Bham, Cosmos is one to beat. Terrific, fresh, hot...loved it.
Birmingham cheese steaks
Haven't tried it yet, but the Philly @ Lenny's in Homewood always looks and smells delish. Will have to give it a try and report back...
Bham area - Let's talk barbecue
DL ribs are not the best, BUT the chopped pork sandwich, imo, is the best one in Birmingham. There's enough bark in there to flavor things, a bit of fat, and the meat is--yes--slow-smoked and luscious. Golden Rule and Full Moon ain't got nothin' on the Dreamland sandwich! And the banana pudding is only rivaled by my Grandma Mary's, and that's really saying something.
I think Demetri's tastes like a glorified cafeteria sandwich, but their fries are great!
