What exactly have you been doing for the last four years?

HK Pizza

Ordered it to a bar in the neighborhood a few weeks ago. It was welllll overdone. Enough to not bother with it again.

Breakfast: 48th St area (plus other ideas too?)

Don't know how early it will be open, but Tulcingo del Valle on 10th between 46th and 47th does a great Chorizo and egg taco. Always good after a night out. Amy's Breads on 9th Avenue in the 40s does some breakfasty type pastry things as well (not enough room for a full sit down meal though). For a good local dinner, Queen of Sheba does Ethiopian on 10th between 45th and 46th, very reasonably priced. For drinks you want the Gaf, 48th street just off 9th, or Conker Hill, 10th Ave near 45th street.

Does anyone know of places (Bar/Restaurant) in Manhattan that will have a Sukkah this Oct. 2008?

Darna on 89th and Columbus I believe.

Best Carrot Cake

On the completely unexpected side, Hot and Crusty Bakery on Broadway in the high 80s does a great carrot cake, and probably cheaper than a lot of bakeries.

92nd Street Y

On the much cheaper side, Delizia Pizzeria on 2nd Ave and 92nd is great.

crusty paella?

Not a Paella expert by any means, but the one time a friend brought me to La Nacional, it was one of those amazing unexpected experiences. I highly recommend it.

Sports bar with good food?

Stout's good, although pricey and often crowded. Lansdowne Road, 10th Ave between 43rd and 44th is good. The Kinsale is definitely a safe bet.

Suggestions for Auburn, Skaneateles, Seneca Falls, Corning, Geneva, Shore of Lake Onterio?

In Skaneateles there's a good bakery/breakfast type shop on Jordan, just between Gennessee and Fennel. And don't go a fraction over the speed limit or you'll get nailed.

Southampton Farmer's Markets?

Hitting the Hamptons this weekend and wondering if any farmer's markets will be open.

Dinosaur BBQ - a tourist's review

I was there last summer and found a municipal parking lot a block away. I forget street names, but facing the front of restaurant, if you walk around the left side one block and turn right, there will be a parking lot on your left. You just park and put money in a box that corresponds to your space.

As for the food, I found the texture and moistness of the pulled pork perfect, but actually flavorless.
The fried green onions with Pecorino did not impress.
The mac and cheese was very good.

I don't know about bulk, but Noche Mexicano (Amsterdam around 101) has them, as well as Tulcingo del valle in hell's kitchen, 10th ave and 47th.

Hill Country - what's best?

Last time I was there there was a pulled brisket sandwich. Very good. Just make sure you go early because they run out of the fatty brisket and only have lean later in the night. I wasn't a fan.

Trippa alla Fiorentina (and other tripe dishes)

Mmmm Al di La. They do everything right.

Tulcingo del Valle in Hell's Kitchen does a hearty tripe soup that really hits the spot after a late night out.

I was going to post about this. Does anyone know any that currently deliver to Manhattan?

One Hot Cupcake, Armed and Dangerous

Wow. I tried this last weekend. The description is spot on. It was one of the moistest cupcakes I've ever had. After the first bite I thought "where's the heat"? Then BAM. It kicked a$$. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the neighborhood. I'll be back to try their other stuff as well.

If you're gonna spulrge on one meal, the Park House hotel in Galway City has a great restaurant. But it will cost you.
