JFX 2012

Does anyone know if the brick oven pizza ladies are coming back later in the season? I think the name was The Red Zebra- they were in the smaller lot last year, but I haven't seen them on any of my trips so far this season.

Wedding favorites?

I am beginning to think about the menu for my wedding next summer in Baltimore, and thought I'd pose this question to you all:

What is the best food you've had at a wedding?

I'm interested in appetizers, special cocktails, and entree items. Bonus points for seasonal and vegetarian-friendly suggestions!

Baltimore Food Trucks?

Has anyone tried the lobster rolls truck? I glimpsed it near the old Lemongrass/Mustang Alley's building last Friday afternoon but didn't have time to stop. Wondering what the prices are like, and the quality.

Also, thought you might be interested in this food truck feature on Midday with Dan Rodericks from April:

Harris Teeter in Baltimore??

Several months ago I saw a Harris Teeter banner on the developing "McHenry Rows" complex in Locust Point. Can it be?? Anyone know when this is scheduled to open?

So excited to have a local source for my Palmetto Cheese and Sister Shubert rolls. Not to mention all of the great "H.T. Traders" products.

Baltimore Food Trucks?

Thanks everyone. I have jury duty later this month so will have to try the pit beef.

There's recently been a crepe truck that parks on the corner of Mt. Royal and Lafayette every Thursday. They have sweet and savory crepes, and nice owners. The ham and gruyere was really tasty. They're marketed as "an authentic french creperie on wheels." you can follow them on twitter @CreperieBreizh

Baltimore Food Trucks?

Are there any noteworthy food trucks in Baltimore? I've seen the one for Kooper's burgers, but are there others I'm missing out on?

Anything that's not to be missed at Mitsitam Cafe in the Native American Museum?

Definitely get an order of fry bread with berry compote. Side dish or a dessert!

I went this summer so it looks like the menu has changed quite a bit - but really, everything was wonderful. A great experience!

JFX Farmer's Market 2009

I just tried the mushroom fritters for the first time a few weeks ago - truly out of this world with the feta & hot sauce.

Are there other prepared items (not listed above) folks recommend trying before the market closes in December? That lamb sausage is also divine...

Please Bring an Elaborate Dessert

I like the suggestion of suggesting bringing something specific to the host. "Can I bring a bottle of red or white?" "Brownies or a baguette?"

This eliminates the hassle of being asked to bring a watermelon (like I was last week!)

neo viccino closing, re-opening

I ate at neo viccino last night and the waiter told us they are closing july 3rd. he said they'll re-open for artscape then close for good, re-opening as a sports bar in a couple of months.

i think the place has quite a few good, reasonably priced dishes, and am always surprised at how empty it is. is it the location? will a sports bar gain a bigger clientele? here's hoping they keep that red, white & blue salad (+ grilled salmon!)

Where can I find great nachos in Baltimore?

I think the Owl Bar's nachos are the best in town. Don't be afraid because the menu says "cheese sauce." It's homemade and amazingly flavorful.

Co Co Sala in DC - Report

I went to CoCo Sala over Inauguration weekend, and loved everything I had. The manchego fritters were perfection. My only complaint was that there were limited options for vegetarians, but I recently looked at their menu and see they've added several veggie-friendly items.

I can't wait to go back!

Searching for cooking classes?

I've been thinking of trying the Sotto Sopra class, too. Has anyone been? I'd love to hear more about it...

fish tacos in Baltimore

I don't always like everything on their menu, but Red Star in Fells Point has fish tacos that I really liked. Grilled swordfish, crunchy cabbage, mandarin oranges, thick avocados -- they were unusual and tasty.

sweet pickles in baltimore

my aunt in north carolina cans sweet pickles, and i grew up eating them in potato salad and deviled eggs. while i have had good potato salad without, the home-canned sweet pickles are what i crave.

i've looked for them at the two baltimore farmer's markets (83 & waverly) but have only found homemade jams and jellies. have i overlooked a good pickle vendor? is there a tasty good store bought brand I should try?

DC Easter Brunch

I am in Baltimore and would love suggestions for a nice Easter brunch for 8 family members visiting DC for the weekend. We used to go to the Park Hyatt but they don't do an Easter Brunch anymore, I've heard. I've heard one request for French, but am open to any suggestions!
