Cuy...Guinea Pig...Ecuadorian Delicacy

They make it in several restaurants in Sunset Park. There are also several bakeries that make it here.

Catering / Takeout in Park Slope

There are TONS of great Mexican (and Salvadorian and Ecuadorian and Colombian) restaurants in Sunset Park. La Flor de Piaxtla on 5th and 42nd is great (perfect tortas). I also like Tacos Matamoros on 5th and 45th. La Fe restaurant on 4th and about 36th has really good seafood and stews... more here http://labarrigabelly.blogspot.com/.

The best time to get churros in SP is... right now! Whenever I go to 5th ave on Sunday afternoon around lunchtime, there's always a guy up there somewhere in the 40s (sorry I can't be more specific - i think he moves around) selling really long churros. For some reason I haven't tried them, but I kind of doubt they have filling. They're probably still good though - perhaps I will investigate today...

Rolled up rice noodles in BKLN Chinatown

In the last city I lived in, I used to get these rolled up rice noodles (a rectangular sheet that had been rolled up) in the grocery stores in Chinatown. They were great because you could toss them into any soup or stir fry and they had a wonderful chewy texture. I haven't been able to find them in the grocery stores in BKLN's Chinatown yet, but maybe I've been looking in the wrong place. Where can I go to find a good variety of fresh Chinese noodles that I can use in cooking?

Thanks!!

Hey - first of all thanks so much for this post (this whole thread is great!). I just moved to SP a couple of weeks ago and I've been almost overwhelmed with all the great food here.
Also, if you're really craving coconut juice as I often am, a lot of the grocery stores/bodegas (I don't really know the difference) sell this canned coconut juice with coconut pulp and it has become my new favorite drink. It's in a white can and I think it just says jugo de coco con pulpa or smthg. It has a really light taste and it's not as sugary as all those Goya juices and the like.

Fried Chicken in Westchester?

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Yvonne's in Pelham. Went there last week - atmosphere is really relaxing, staff is very helpful, and the fried chicken is great (my dad got it but I tasted his... FYI the pigs feat are also great).

Churros in New Ro

aaahhhgh - tongue is hanging out of mouth, Homer Simpson style. If only... Oh, almost forgot: http://labarrigabelly.blogspot.com/

Churros in New Ro

Thanks!!
Hm, that's weird though. You'd think that with all these Mexican restaurants in New Ro there'd be somebody selling churros here (other than Costco, not that there's anything wrong w/ Costco, but u know)

Churros in New Ro

Hi,
Would anyone happen to know if there is a place in New Rochelle that sells churros (preferably with DDL)? I know there are places in Port Chester that sell them, but I'd rather not have to get in the car. Thanks!

Dinner suggestions in Larchmont/Mamaroneck area?

I think Chat 19 is quite a nice place - calm atmosphere and decent food (the tuna sandwich with wasabi is very good and I love the french fries). But the service is definitely inconsistent. http://labarrigabelly.blogspot.com/

Lebanese Candy

Thanks!! I've been getting mine from Anatole, but I didn't know what they were called. And that's a bit far for me so I'm glad I've got some more options now:). Oh and they make it at Akhavan? I'm so there. Thanks again!

Lebanese Candy

Hi,
I've recently become addicted to Lebanese candy (the Turkish Delight type stuff with nuts and chewy stuff...) but it is usually only sold in single packages. I've only found one place that sells larger containers of it up near the Jean-Talon market. Does anyone know where I can get lots of Lebanese candy near the Plateau or downtown? Thanks!!

Mexico City vs Guadalajara

thanks Eat Nopal. so does Mexico City have lots of non-Mexican restaurants? not that I don't love good Mexican food, but I'm thinking of staying there for a while and I would want some variety. Is there... East Asian, Indian, Middle Eastern food there? I know i'm being a bit lazy by not searching the boards...

Mexico City vs Guadalajara

Hi,
I've never gone to either of these cities and I was wondering which has a better selection of food, more variety, better quality etc. I guess this is really for people that live in either city. Are they equally cosmopolitan?
Thanks!!
