Sazerac.ca

went about a month ago - tried a few of their small dishes and a few different cocktails - all were excellent. Service was very good too. Volume increases as night progresses (beautiful room but brick walls not good for absorbing noise) so go early if you want a quieter experience.

The Saint Tavern on Ossington

also went last night....had the periogies, fried chicken, house curred salmon and cheesecake for dessert. All excellent as was the service. Good value too for quality and portion size. Good vibe in the room, loud but still able to have a conversation. Will return for sure.

The best chocolate chip cookie in Toronto?

wagamama - corner of king west and tecumseth - chewy, soft but lots of chocolate chips. yum

Gusto 101

I've been for lunch twice (great burger with spicy fries and homemade ketchup, grilled salmon salad - delicious, but huge portion that you could easily share) and dinner twice (seafood grilled kabob, pizza, homemade ricotta - all great). Nice service, always very busy, good price points....looking forward to their patios (one in front and one on the roof) opening.

NEW Best Pizza in Toronto Thread

Buca: Recent obsession - simple one with Buffalo Mozzarella, Basil and tomato sauce.

Best Nachos in Toronto?

Oh Cocao - I'm a Keg fan too. The Wheatsheaf used to have great nachos (haven't had in a few years) - evenly spread on a metal pan (not too embarrassingly big if you are eating them on your own) with good cheese & topping distribution and a low price point ($7.99 or $8.99 with a side of chili). The Firkin on King is latest fav - but you have to order the sour creme/guac/salsa on the side - so you don't have a mountain (and soggy chips).

Union on Ossington - Who's been lately?

Love the food and the service - but find the seating very tight if sitting on the south side of the room - elbow to elbow with your neighbour.

Pasta Special at Fusarro's on Spadina just north of Richmond - usually $9 or $10 - pasta/salad/bread - great deal and delicious.

I agree with you CocoaChanel....Modus is open on Saturday night - I went there on a Saturday night and found it meh - safe menu, nothing special, and quite pricey.

Best fine dining in Toronto...on a Sunday

Agree with Opus - but Noce on Queen West is another option. Always impeccable service, terrific food and an extensive wine list. Ask to sit in the front room at the window with a view of the park.

Spicy noodle soup w/garlic dumplings: Charles St Cafe?

In the early '90's there was a small cafe in the indoor mall on north west corner of Yonge and Charles. They had a varied menu but friends and I would always order their spicy noodle soup (you could order mild, medium or hot) with garlic dumplings. No longer there but wondering if anyone remembers or knows where I could find a similar dish today.

Odd hours especially during TIFF! Head up to King Street! Tutti Matti on Adelaide just east of Spadina is another option for you - great Italian.

Restaurant recommendations on Mercer St.

Milagro at Mercer/John (so just east of the hotel - about a 1 min walk) is good for Mexican. Share a bunch of appetizers and a margarita.
Or walk one block north to King Street - and there are a variety of restaurants - bit touristy but lots of variety. (Paese for Italian, Canteen, Verona, Dhaba for Indian). Walk west on King and you have good Thai at Thai Princess. Keep walking west of Spadina (about a 10 min from the hotel) and you have Crush, Brassaii, Lee, Buca and few pubs to choose from. Have fun!
