Smoked turkey--how different is it from a regular turkey?

I bought one for this Thanksgiving and did not care for it. I served it room temperature, sliced and served as suggested by the company. It just did not taste as good as a traditional cooked turkey.

I have a lot of leftover crab salad (crab, mayo, parsley, dijon). Can I add an egg or two and panko and have crabcakes?

Chocolate Cherry Cake

Years ago my mother used to make a quick chocolate cherry cake. She used a box mix and a can of cherry pie filling and maybe eggs. That is all. I lost the recipe and cannot find this very simple version anywhere. Anyone have it? Thanks.

Leftover Buttermilk

I have almost a quart of buttermilk leftover from a cake recipe. I could make buttermilk mashed potatoes, pancakes, or fried chicken but I looking for some kind of soup with buttermilk as a base so I can use it all. Any suggestions?

Spoiler Alert: It's Per Se

I agree. We went to Per Se several years ago and cannot stop taking about it. The best meal of our lives. We are now saving to go to French Laundry. This isn't a weekly or even annual thing, we love the experience and would rather spend our money on a blowout dinner every few years instead of annual vacations.

Asking your guests to bring their own plates and silverware for large/r dinner parties...

Sorry to say but yes, it is tacky. And, I have to disagree with you about Goodwill (or any other thriftstore). I have a closet full of Corelle (enough for a dinner party of 30) that I have collected over two years and it is perfect for large parties. I have several different patterns but the pattern if against a white plate so they all work well together. I found a complete service for 4 (16 pieces) for $10 among my many finds..

I have also supplemented my everyday silverware from thriftstores over the years (the same pattern) that was discontinued by the manufacturer.

Give it a try, you will be surprised at the good bargains to be found as far as dishware and silverware are concerned.
