You are so right about the David Girard Winery. Beautiful facility, beautiful wines, exceptional staff, and service.Their grenache and syrah are worth the trip. If you go, use the directions provided by their website. Ignore any directions from Google, Mapquest, or your GPS!

We love Taste also. Love your description of Plymouth's restaurants and totally agree. Unfortunately, Incahoots just recently closed.

Yes, the deli across the street is still open. Amador Vintage Market Is home to a wonderful deli, market, and wine bar. It is open Thursday - Sunday 10 - 5. They also have fabulous cooking classes with dinner on a routine basis.
Tasty soup from the supermarket?
The Safeway Select chicken tortilla soup is inedible.

Do I count a baby when making reservations on Opentable?
Yes, when using Open Table, I include children in the total number, then use the notes section to indicate ages of the children. I received a phone call from one restaurant that their high chair seat belt straps were broken, I've been given a server with children of the same age, and I have been given an out-of-the-way table where the baby could observe the whole restaurant. These were very much appreciated accommodations that made our experiences successful. We also tip around 25% in addition to leaving additional money for the busser for the extra carpet cleanup.
ISO Best Sacramento Chinese
Experienced New Lai Wah last night. Our party of 3 ordered hot & sour soup, honey walnut prawns, stir-fry rib eye steak cubes with mixed mushrooms, , stir-fry BBQ pork with snow peas, shrimp fried rice, and tomato beef hong kong style. Very tasty and generous portions. Very satisfying meal. The bill was approximately $50.00. The standout dishes were the rib eye steak cubes, the pork with snow peas, and the tomato beef.
New Hong Kong Wok is already in our rotation, and I look forward to trying the others on your list. Thanks.

Amador City and Environs
For dinner, approximately 7 miles north of Amador City is Taste Restaurant in Plymouth. Their food is fresh and fabulous.
For lunch, try Susan's Place in Sutter Creek, approximately 2 miles south of Amador City. Susan's Place features "fresh Mediterranean fare" in a charming patio setting. Thier wine menu features local wine at a great price.
Carmel Valley (near Monterey not SD)?
I agree with Gail's recommendation of Corkscrew Cafe for lunch. They grow their own herbs and much of their produce. Their patio is a unique place for lunch.

I easily made reservations for Manresa through Open Table. No problem at all getting the day and time I wanted. The reservation process was not at all like TFL.
Angels Camp restaurants
For breakfast, many consider Grounds to be the best breakfast in the town of Murphys. It is within a block of V. By the way, the chef at V is the former executive chef at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite.

Not sure if Vientiane is up and running yet. Their old location was demolished. They are moving to Jefferson Square, 1001 Jefferson Street, West Sacramento. They were hoping to be open this month, but I don't know if that has been accomplished.

They were closed today. Banner out front indicated they will be opening soon under new management. Does anyone know the specifics of what's going on there?
Do you use a side burner with your grill?
We have used our Weber side burner while barbecuing only 2-3 times and we barbecue every week of the year. We merely consider the side burner great insurance. We live in California so it's our back-up for power outages and earthquakes!
Weekend lunch in Sacramento [moved from San Francisco board]
For brunch, check out the Tower Cafe at 1518 Broadway near Land Park Drive. They serve a tasty French toast.
FYI, Memorial Day week-end in Sacramento means the annual Jazz Festival. This year there will be 100 bands in 30 venues. Restaurants tend to be crowded. So bring plenty of patience!
