Anyone tried Fatty Fish?

Has anyone tried Fatty Fish on E. 64th St., off of 1st Ave.? I went there for brunch on Sunday and was totally blown away by the "coconut French toast." It was beautifully presented and came with a bowl of citrus-infused syrup for dipping...wow. The pieces of French toast seemed more like dough than bread (I don't like French toast that's too bready), and were crunchy and delicious. The brunch special for 15 bucks also included soda (I had the homemade ginger ale, which oh my God, completely changed my life), a plate of dim sum appetizers, and some very good coffee. I will definitely be back soon. I also had a plate of sushi, which was cheap and excellent. I'm guessing their prices are so low because they're a little bit out of the way. I laughed when I walked in, because the flashing lights outside look a little campy, but the interior is serene and beautiful, and the food is amazing. The presentation is what I would expect at a place like Daniel, sans the coordinated setting down of plates. Also they have outdoor seating in the back, which is perfect for this weather...pretty sure I'll be there again this Sunday. There were lots of other interesting things on the menu, which I look forward to trying. Would love to hear about any other dishes others have tried.

Brazilian Churros

Thank you for the recommendation!

Brazilian Churros

On a recent trip to Brazil I ate the most amazing churros, which I bought from vendors on the beach. After you bought them they would use this dispenser to fill them with dulce de leche or chocolate sauce. It was probably one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. I ate so many I made myself sick. Is there a place here that sells them like that? By the way, I tried something similar to this in Argentina, but it wasn't nearly as good as the ones I had at various beaches in Brazil. So it's the Brazilian ones that I'm specifically interested in finding. Thank you.

Appetizers and Vegetables at Peter Luger Steakhouse

I'm going again in three weeks, I'll be sure to try the garlic French dressing.

Appetizers and Vegetables at Peter Luger Steakhouse

For some reason I had been craving a hearts of lettuce salad with bleu cheese with extra bleu cheese crumbles, so I started out with that. It was wonderful but kind of filled me up. The bacon was great too, and I enjoyed the steak as well. I also really liked the German potatoes. The spinach didn't gross me out, but I didn't feel like eating a lot of it... then again I wasn't too hungry after the salad. I loved the schlag on the hot fudge sundae.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I feel so torn, I want to try everything just so I can comment on all of it. I'll be sure to report on it tomorrow.

Appetizers and Vegetables at Peter Luger Steakhouse

I'm eating at Peter Luger Steakhouse for the first time tomorrow and would like some recommendations on which appetizers and vegetables there are the best. The ones that sound most interesting to me are the tomatoes and onions, the bacon, the salad, the creamed spinach, and the German fried potatoes. So in other words, almost everything. Sometimes I don't like spinach dishes, especially when the spinach is too mushy and the flavor is too strong, but sometimes I love it and in this case it sounds interesting. Any advice would be welcomed. Also if anyone can recommend a dessert, that would be great. The hot fudge sundae sounds pretty good. Thank you very much.

UK Version of Cadbury's Creme Egg in NYC?

Does anyone know of a place in New York that's currently selling the UK version of Cadbury's Creme Eggs? I know that Fairway sells a lot of candy from the UK, but I don't know if they carry the Creme Eggs. My understanding is that the ones here are made by Hershey's (under license from Cadbury's) and are of a different quality.

are H&H bagels still the best??

What ever happened to Columbia Bagels near 110th and Broadway? Those were the best bagels I've ever had. I'd take guests from out of town and they'd nearly collapse with pleasure. Did they move, or is the whole operation gone?

New York Cheesecake and beyond

The number is actually 718-549-3888 (9 instead of 6).

Waffles

I've been searching for a thread devoted exclusively to waffles, and since I didn't find one, I'm starting this thread. I'd love to hear any recommendations for places that sell outstanding waffles, either of the chicken and waffles variety or just waffles alone.

Best pizza in any borough?????

My favorite place is V&T's on Amsterdam around 110th St. It's different from Grimaldi's style pizza, but unlike most people, I like it more. It's got more cheese and I'd say is more of a comfort food type pizza.

Sweet and Sour Chicken

So after not getting any recommendations I decided to go to Our Place Shanghai Tea Garden, since it's a big winner at citysearch.com. It was absolutely delicious. I'd definitely go there again. With a Coca Cola it was perfect.

Sweet and Sour Chicken

I am fully aware of the fact that sweet and sour chicken is one of the unhealthiest, most low class, Americanized dishes in the world. However, I am not ashamed to admit that I love deep fried chunks of chicken breast drenched in sweet red sauce and served with white rice. In fact, right now I'm really craving it. Obviously I can get this all over the place, but is there a particular place in New York that serves an extraordinary version of it?
