360 - RIP?

Yep, it's true. Not news at all. 360 is no more. Friends of mine are in the process of negotiating taking over the lease. But...don't tell anyone...

Help introduce us to the Outer Boroughs

I think I would live on the floor of Hanco's just for the opportunity to eat the crumbs that other diners might drop. It is, without a doubt, one of the best banh mis in the city--it's darned near a perfect meal...just talking about it has set me to daydreaming...mmmm pork....mmm cilantro...mmm jalapeno...mmmmmmmmmmmm

Brooklyn Restaurant Week in March

Seems longer than usual...two whole weeks? I heard they were basing this year's price on the Brooklyn zip codes!(?)

Saul 'Gatekeeper' has Eater profile

One of the requirements for a Michelin star (as I understand it) is that the restaurant be a white-linen (literally) restaurant. Applewood's butcher block table tops will always keep them at a fork, instead of a star...alas!

Flatbush Farm - good tuna belly and lamb

Despite inconsistent reviews, we found Flatbush Farm to be a real gem. I can understand how someone could walk away having had a less-than-stellar experience, but this place is one that I would give a second chance. The food is above average, the decor is interesting, and they've got the right idea about service, if not the perfect staff. I imagine it can be very difficult to staff a restaurant with great people right away, so I always let service imperfections slide during the first six months or so. The general vibe here is a good one. It's definitely worth checking out!

If you were picking one Brooklyn restaurant?

The restaurant you're thinking of was called Adele. Folks who remember it seem to remember it very fondly. Apparently, it was just ahead of it's time, as it was an upscale restaurant on 9th Street back in the late 80s, early 90s.
