Arlington -- Retro Ray's???

Went there last night with hubby. Same delicious food from the same Ray's kitchen but prices are several dollars less. The selection is a bit skimpier but there are plenty of choices (including our regular choices!). It's a great way to eat a great meal for a very reasonable price.

New Bangladeshi place in Arlington

I too live quite close to this restaurant and my husband and I have been quite curious about Yorktown BIstro's replacement. Is the food spicier than "regular" Indian food? I find Persian food to be too spicy for me (I'm a wimp in that sense), and I was wondering how Bangledeshi food compares. What are the prices like? Thanks for the report. I'm sure we'll get around to checking this place out at some point, but it usually takes us awhile to break out of our restaurant ruts!

Looking for one tasty dinner in Phoenix

Cork sounds quite good and is a definite possibility. My husband and I like different types of food, although I'm very limited when it comes to eating spicy food. I think we'd prefer a casual place and generally would prefer to spend no more than $100 for the two of us (which would include alcohol). I don't really know anything about restaurants in Phoenix so I don't know what's a "typical" price point. We are not wedded to eating Mexican. Sorry I'm not being more specific but I'm not sure I even know what I'm looking for. Well, maybe I do: unpretentious, good food, not dressy, not ridiculously expensive, and not too spicy. Also, we don't want to travel more than 20-30 minutes from the Sheraton, if possible. Thanks to everyone for suggestions so far.

Cork sounds good. Can you give me a sense of how far the Wild Horse Pass Resort is from Chandler and/or Cork? Kai at the resort might be very good, but I don't want to spend that much money. Thanks for your help.

Looking for one tasty dinner in Phoenix

My husband and I will be staying at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort in early April for two nights. We have one night available to choose where we want to eat dinner. We like places that are tasty but not pretentious or overly expensive. We like Mexican food but are open to other suggestions. We will have a car but would rather not have to go too far. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Casual Italian In or Near Rosslyn (and Thanks)

I think Village Bistro is wonderful--wide range of dishes, always consistent. My friend who *only* eats pasta dishes at restaurants (weird) is always able to find something to enjoy there. It's low-key compared to many of the places around there, but it's not cheap, cheap.

District Taco

Hubby and I stopped by District Taco last night for a quick dinner. You can tell the place is having some growing pains--the line to order moved pretty slowly--but that could be partially customers not knowing how and what to order as well as the newness of the staff. We both had chicken and beef tacos (we'll be bolder next time!) and overall I would say they were pretty good, and the prices are quite fair. I don't like spicy food so I had my tacos pretty plain but there's a nice assortment of add-ons to the tacos, burritos, etc. We live nearby and walked there so that added to my positive feelings about the place. I don't know if it will ever be a place that's worth going way out your way for, but I do think it's a nice "local" option. I'm glad to have District Taco in the neighborhood--and I think it's going to be a great success

District Taco

It was open last night (or at least there were some people in the place) but I had already picked up some carry-out from Lebanese Taverna. I can't wait to try District Taco. Anyone eaten at their restaurant yet?

District Taco

I'm confused as to when District Taco (the restaurant) is open. I live nearby and am itching to try it, but it only looks open now and then. Anyone know? Thanks!

Pizzeria Orso - originally posted on another website

My husband and I have now eaten at Pizzaria Orso twice and have enjoyed it both times. We live fairly close, and I'll admit that I might not go miles out of my way to eat here, but we had none of the issues the OP had. It's not cheap, though. That's for sure.

The best meal at the Eden Center: Bay Lo 7 Special at Bay Lo.

Great. I'll give it a try soon. We live quite close to Eden Center. Thanks!

The best meal at the Eden Center: Bay Lo 7 Special at Bay Lo.

The dish sounds delish, but I'm wondering about the level of spice. My system struggles with spicy food, and I have a low tolerance for that sort of thing.

Pupusas in metro DC area??

El Paso Cafe on Pershing in Arlington has delicious pupusas (and margaritas!).

your favorite burgers and beef ribs in washington, DC area ...including Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Tysons Corner, etc

We ate at BGR in Arlington for the first time last night. It was quite good. We shared the Greek burger and the Wellington, and both were finger-licking good. I may actually like this place better than Hellburgers, if only because of the roll.

Chez Manelle in Arlington - Report

Just had a nice early dinner at Chez Manelle. DH and I shared the Omek Houri (hubby liked it better than I did), Brika (very good), and Sagara Boregi (phylo dough wrapped around feta cheese and parsley (delish). We also had a beef kabob, which came with two side salads (white bean and Tunisian salad) and nicely spiced and cooked rice. The beef is not top-quality, which is reflected in the price, but it was spiced nicely as well and was very good. Thanks for bringing this place to my attention, Steve. We'll definitely be back. Oh, the prices are amazing!

Any one tried Malik's Kabob?

I hate to be a wuss, but I don't like real spicy food (like Ravi Kabob which I wished I liked). Is Malik's food spicy as well?

Tap and Vine -- Lee Hwy in North Arlington

I thought the place was doing well, at least for dinner. I was mildly addicted to their mac 'n cheese.

Downtown McLean Restaurants--Why are they so mediocre?

Boy, do I miss Zachary's!

Rest. recommendations in Ballston area

My husband and I used to love Cafe Tirolo, but once the original owner/chef (can't think of his name) sold the place, the food wasn't as good. Is it still open?

Founding Farmers

Ooh, those bacon lollipops sound great. And I'm excited about fresh food! Any thoughts about the house-made pasta? Thanks.

Founding Farmers

I'm getting my first shot at Founding Farmers on Monday evening. I looked at the menu online and saw numerous things that sounded good. But the menu is pretty large, so what do people recommend? How do I whittle the menu down? Thanks.

New to Courthouse, Arlington, VA

In the same strip as Ray's Hellburger is an overlooked gem, Village Bistro. Great little place with a nice range of entrees. Plus you can hear your dining partner--it's a nice quiet place.

Casual Sat. dinner for 8 before DAR Constitution Hall concert

We're going to M&S Grill after all that. Thanks for everyone's suggestions and comments!

Casual Sat. dinner for 8 before DAR Constitution Hall concert

I agree, Daniel. Reservations for 8 people are going to be hard to come by. We were actually focusing on Founding Farmers, but couldn't get a reservation this close to the weekend. Thanks for the suggestions.

Casual Sat. dinner for 8 before DAR Constitution Hall concert

Any suggestions for a casual, reasonably priced place for 8 people to grab a bit before a concert at DAR Constitution Hall? We are looking for simply prepared food, veggie options, American cuisine (not ethnic). Sandwiches, salads, bagels, simply prepared fish, etc. would be fine. Thanks!

Everyday Eating: Restaurants you frequent

Thanks for the tips. For some reason, we still have not made it to ghin na rhee, even though we can easily walk there. I used to go to Anthony's in FC years ago when I worked in FC. Now we just walk over to Pie-tanza in the Lee-Harrison strip--always get the pizza "well done."

Everyday Eating: Restaurants you frequent

OK, good to know. Thanks.

Everyday Eating: Restaurants you frequent

Steve, have you been to the new American Flatbread in Arlington? Wondering how the food is--the prices seem on the high side.

Everyday Eating: Restaurants you frequent

Just saw this message (a year and a half late). Alkapal, do you still eat at these places at Lee-Harrison? I live in the townhouses right next to that shopping strip.

Casual lunch near 37th Ave. and Lexington

Thanks for the three suggestions. We were considering Ali Baba for dinner one night so it's good to know that it's a decent place. Both Penelope and Ethos look good too. Thanks!
