Saag
Doing a search for saag is useless. 1232354345345 recipes come up! I want to have recommendations from the chefs here on chowhound who I know have good taste. Thank you, Fatima, for taking the time to send me your recipe. I can't wait to try it. :)
Saag
Indian chefs! I need the BEST saag recipe ever. Not saag paneer, aloo, or the like. Just a regular, luscious saag that is amazing and smooth. Please share your best recipe. Thanks in advance!!! :D
What is the best Indian restaurant in LA?
I really wasn't thrilled with Mayura at all. I went there three times and all three I thought it was just OKAY. Especially that fish curry that is so talked about. It was a tiny piece of stinky, previously frozen fish in a large bowl of sauce.
Their dosa was okay, avial okay, and Northern Indian dishes were not good at all (which I wouldn't have ordered in a Keralan restaurant but my friend insisted)........... to each their own :)

As far as I know Natraj in Long Beach is not the same as the other Natraj restaurants from South OC.
What is the best Indian restaurant in LA?
Just discovered a great one in the valley... I've been twice now and really loved all that I tried:
onion bhajjis, dal makhani, okra, shahi paneer, mixed veg, naan, tandoori roti....all awesome! :D

Mashed Sweet Potatoes: Bake the Potatoes First?
Agreed! Baked sweet or white potatoes make a superior mash imo.
Do Jacque Torres chocolate chip cookies (nytimes recipe) really live up to their name?
I LOVED the JT chocolate chip cookie. Such a perfect cookie (especially about 10 min after it comes out of the oven!)
Now you have me curious to try Thomas Keller's to compare as well! :)
Crack Pie recipe is a LIE
Well I tried the blueberry cream cookies in NYC in October and threw it straight in the bin after tasting one bite!
Blech!
Dessert Egg Rolls?
I tried one filled with fresh strawberries and nutella inside at a restaurant recently and it was very yummy!
Vietnamese in Orange County (specific dishes)
My brother RAVES about Thuyen Vien in Anaheim for vegan Vietnamese food, but I haven't tried it yet.
Brodard has the best chao tom spring rolls I've ever had. The rolls and the sauce keep me driving all the way there just to order that (and a packet to take home!)
Middle Eastern in Anaheim
I LOVE Olive Tree. Try and go on a Sunday to order the musakhan special. Heaven on a plate. Sumac and onion chicken with roasted almonds and a delicious yogurt sauce.
Also their fattit hummus is to die for! It's a giant bowl of hot hummus swimming in a tahini sauce and other flavorings all on top of crispy fried pita chips. SO good!
Koo's Sweet Rice Pancake Ho-tteok Cart – Delicious Ho Dduk (Korean Sweet Pancake) in Koreatown
I liked it a LOT the first time I went here. Hot off the griddle and scorching with the sugar mixture oozing out! Yum! But the following two times I went, they had some pre-made they barely reheated and handed to me. It wasn't nearly as tasty as a fresh one, but somehow I still gobbled it down. :)
Tres Leches cake - recipes wanted!
A search brought up my old post.

Momofuku Milk Bar cookbook for $500 vs Online ordering for $300
The blueberry cookie was not blueberry-ish at all. The corn not corn-ish. The compost cookie you couldn't differentiate between the fun add-ins of pretzels, chips, etc. All was mashed so tiny it just seemed like a regular (but bad) chocolate chip cookie. All of the cookies were extremely greasy, lacked flavor, and seemed so processed tasting to me.
The cereal milk ice cream had an off taste (I'd rather eat real cereal milk after I've eaten a bowl of cereal!) and the texture was that of a bad quality ice cream. In the trash that went and I am an ice cream FIEND!
The only decent thing was the crack pie, but it wasn't aaaaaamazing.
Momofuku Milk Bar cookbook for $500 vs Online ordering for $300
My advice would be to buy one cookie first to try right then and there before you invest in a whole lot of them like I did. If I would have just bought one I would definitely have walked out after and saved myself $20.
Momofuku Milk Bar cookbook for $500 vs Online ordering for $300
Was it worth it to you? I went to Momofuku Milk bar and bought one of everything to try since it all sounded so yummy! WRONG! All was disgusting except for the crack pie. The rest went in the trash after one taste. :(
Pralines
Where can I find the best pralines to bring home from my trip to NOLA? :)
My mom suggested Aunt Sally's but I was wondering if there was something better out there!
Devi, Tabla, Or?????
So you would recommend Junoon over Devi for sure? I don't care about the ambiance as much as the food.

Devi, Tabla, Or?????
I want to try one of the upscale Indian restaurants on my upcoming trip to NYC. Which is above the rest? :) (fyi if it helps: Indian food is my absolute favorite and I've also been to India)
I am drowning in honey!
These Moroccan cookies are covered in honey and are absolutely delicious! Try this recipe...

Help! Stinky cheese is ruining my fridge!
I recently moved in with a roommate who has extremely potent aged cheeses in the fridge. The entire fridge smells SO BAD I am afraid to put any of my own food in there. :( The cheese is wrapped in ziplock bags. Is there a better way to wrap it so it doesn't smell? Do I need to take everything out of the fridge, clean it out somehow, and put it back wrapped better? There are already 2 boxes of baking soda in there! lol
Advice please?
Kunafa or Konafa recipe
This is a good recipe, although not ricotta. http://www.beyondtheplate.net/events/30for30/konafa-middle-eastern-delights/ You could use this recipe as a guide and play with your own ricotta filling.
Green bean overload from CSA. Need ideas (no freezing, please!)
loubia b'zeit- lebanese green beans cooked in lots of onions, garlic, tomato. serve hot, cold, or room temp. love it!
What is the best Indian restaurant in LA?
I hated Udupi the last time I went! Tirupathi Bhimas is sooooo much better! The dosa and fillings were really not good at all at Udupi.

Really? My family really liked Watermarc (and I trust their taste in food), but I have yet to try it myself. 230 Forest and Opah are both just good, normal restaurants imo. Nothing to write home about....

I would suggest Watermarc as well. I've heard excellent things (but haven't been myself)
