Which Portuguese restaurant is better & more authentic? O Bacalhau or Old Lisbon?

Any other suggestions for Portuguese restaurants or bakeries in the Miami area?

Thank you!!

Reservations in Orlando, Disney?

If you want to eat in the parks or on property, the Disney Dining number is 407-939-3463. My favorite is Les Chefs de France (France/Epcot). I have never eaten at Le Cellier (Canada/Epcot) but I have heard great things about it.

New bakery coming to Orlando! Turkey Lake/Sand Lake/I-4

I drove past on my way home and saw the sign. It's called Delish New York Bakery and it's in the same shopping center as the new Whole Foods. Last weekend I finally got over there to take a closer look. The outside looks finished but the inside still needs a lot of work. I found their website today and they're aiming for a Winter 2008 opening. The menu looks really good. I can't wait to try it, especially the scones. I have yet to find a decent bakery in this town, like an old fashioned one that serves lot's of things not just specialized like French, etc., so I'm hoping this will be good! Here is the website if you want to take a look...http://www.delishnybakery.com/menu.htm

I wrote to them asking to let me know when they open. I'll let you know what I hear back. Looks like TooJay's will have some competition....

Where can I find Pumpkin Doughnuts in Orlando?

Sorry, missed this post yesterday and I ended up going to KK this morning (I was running really early for work anyway). Yup, no pumpkin but I did get two hot doughnuts so it wasn't a wasted trip. Thanks for checking winechic:o)

This time of year is the only time I miss not living in Louisville or Tulsa. At least they had decent bakeries and fall weather. Not reason enough to move back though, LOL!

'08 EPCOT Food & Wine

I went last year but ended up not buying anything from the food stalls (lines were too long) and eating at Les Chef de France instead (my favorite restaurant at Epcot and thank God for my 50% cast member holiday discount!) Here is a link to the festival menu... http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides...

I was at the right place at the right time last year because I ended up meeting a really nice guy whose date to "A Party for the Senses" flaked out on him and he offered me her ticket. I went and it was so much fun and I was served Soba Noodles with Scallops by Iron Chef Cat Cora. If you can afford it, it's a really cool thing to do.

Here's a blurb on it...

A PARTY FOR THE SENSES - 2008
Hosted by Vanity Fair
This popular venue takes place each Saturday during the Food and Wine Festival at the World ShowPlace located between Canada and United Kingdom Pavilions. You’ll begin this memorable evening with reserved seating at the 5:45pm performance of the Eat to the Beat Concert. $135 per person plus tax, gratuity included.
From 6:30 to 9:00pm, you’ll be sampling the culinary creations of 25 renowned chefs and over 25 wineries and breweries. Each tasting station will be a new sensation for the senses.

Have fun! :o)

Where can I find Pumpkin Doughnuts in Orlando?

Hi Jazzy, Pumpkin anything gets me excited. I just LOVE Autumn:o) I will try Krispy Kreme. I've heard of Sweet! but have yet to make the hike over to Waterford Lakes. Don't know if you're interested but Baskin Robbins has Pumpkin Pie ice cream that is very good. I don't know if it's available yet though. Their Egg Nog ice cream is also yummy. Thanks for responding!

Where can I find Pumpkin Doughnuts in Orlando?

I have yet to find a traditional bakery in Orlando, any ideas where to find a decent pumpkin doughnut? I drove by Dunkin' Donuts and no pumpkin doughnuts, just muffins. Also, anyone know of any traditional bakeries in the Orlando area? Thanks!

Shot glass desserts

I agree that Seasons 52 is terribly overrated! They go on and on about not having any butter on the premises but all I could think while I was eating the cedar plank salmon and asparagus, “This would be so much better with some butter”, LOL!!

Anyway, I had the pecan pie shot glass dessert and it was way, way, over sweet, I did what I could to get through half of it as not to offend the person who took me to lunch. I wouldn't go there again unless someone else is paying and then I'll just stick to the flat breads which were pretty good.

Orlando Bakeries?

Oh yes, Yalaha Bakery, yummy! I first heard about them a few years ago on the Food Network show "Food Finds" while I was living in Tulsa, OK. I was so happy when I moved to Orlando and realized I could finally go try it out. It's a nice drive on the weekend.

Best Dim Sum in Chinatown?

A co-worker is going to Toronto in three weeks and would like to have Dim Sum in Chinatown. What are your suggestions for the best authentic, clean, but not over priced place with cart service on a Thursday or Friday for lunch? Thanks!

Sorry, just saw your replies today. Did you get to try it? What did you think? I got the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce when I went there. Next time you're stuck here, I'll be happy to pick you up and go get some real food over in Dr. Phillips, LOL! There's an awesome Sushi place called Bonsai over there. :o)

Awww, Orlando isn't that bad. I can think of worse places to be stuck;o) Good to see you like Chinese because the only restaurant I know near that area is...

Mr KS Chinese Quizen & Sushi
10395 Narcoossee Rd, Orlando, FL 32832
(407) 273-9966

I thought it was good and I'm pretty picky about Chinese food.

Going to St. Augustine...recommendations?

Osteen's is good. Not very big, local seafood type place, usually busy. I had the blackened tilapia and it was sooooo good. Also the sweet potato side was awesome!

Here's the address:
205 Anastasia Blvd

There's some quaint places in the old part of town, looks very European. You'll love it. Have fun:o) Don't forget to check out flagler college, the fort and lighthouse (which I heard is haunted) ;o)

Soy sauce + butter = yum!

I've been doing this for years as well. I add soy, butter, garlic powder and black pepper to a bowl of noodles and shrimp or chicken. The popcorn idea sound yummy!

I have also discovered the wonders of Soy + Cream. Te Kei’s Chinese Asian Kitchen in Tulsa serves their potstickers with the soy cream. Here in Orlando, my favorite dish at Wolfgang Puck Cafe is the Macadamia Nut Crusted Breast of Chicken with Papaya marmalade and garlic mashed potatoes with sho yu cream sauce. The soy cream makes the perfect gravy for the potatoes and chicken.

Oh yum! I love White Castles and I agree, Krystals don't come close. Something else I love at White Castle is the Fried Bologna and Egg breakfast sandwich. Soooo good! :o)

Dim Sum at Sang's- what should I order? (Miami)

I couldn't tell from your post if you were looking only for suggestions for Sang's or if you don't normally eat Dim Sum and don't know what to order in general so I'll go with the latter, LOL! I haven't been to Sang's but my father owns a Dim Sum restaurant in Kentucky so I'm familiar with the menu items. Whenever I travel, I find a place that serves Dim Sum and I normally order Har-Gau (shrimp dumplings), Siu-Mai (pork & shrimp dumplings), Pai Quat (not sure if I spelled that right but basically small spare ribs in black bean sauce, yum!), Chow Fun (Wide noodle steamed with shrimp, beef or pork with soy sauce over the top), Nor Mai Gai (sticky rice with black mushroom, chicken, shrimp in the middle wrapped in a lotus leaf). I don't eat Fung-Jao (Chicken Feet) or Beef Tripe but if you're brave, go for it, LOL!

Some other things I like are:

Black mushrooms or green peppers stuffed with shrimp
Sesame balls stuffed with bean paste

Also, Cha-Siu-Bao (Barbecued pork buns) is a must.

I hope that helps some:o)
