Where the best place in the East Bay for Dried Fry Green Beans?
Best deep-fried wontons in the Bay Area?
They have pretty good fried won tons at Saigon Restaurant in Oakland at the very end of San Pable Ave. Alot of won ton and filling for the price and good swwet/sour sauce.
New Italian Restaurant next to Sea Salt
Does anyone know the name of the new restaurant that opened up on San Pablo next to Sea Salt? I think it's the same owners.

King Wah in Oakland Chinatown (what's happening?)
Does anyone know what's happening with King Wah in Oakland Chinatown? First they said they were remodeling and now someone tells me they are closed for good. I love the Stuffed Chicken Wings. Is there any other place that has this?

Granola sold at Jack London Farmer's Market
Does anyone know the name of the people who sell the chunky granola at the Jack London Farmer's Market? I think they are based out of Alameda.
Best Place for Steamed Mussels in the East Bay
Does anyone know where I can get steamed mussels with pomme frites in the East Bay?
Great China closed for vacation??
Does anyone know if Great China in Berkeley is closed for vacation? They are not answering their phone.
Guava Cake
Does anyone know where I can purchase a Guava Cake or any similar Hawaiian cake in the EastBay or San Francisco? San Jose is too far.
I need it for a birthday cake.
Best Seafood in SF
I am looking for a place with good seafood. Fish in particular. Something basic, not too fancy.
Chocolate Cake in EB
I am needing a bakery in the East Bay to order a Chocolate Birthday cake similar to the one like Just Desserts.
Hawaiian Rest. in Berkeley
I thought this place was around for awhile. I tried it about 6 months ago. They were out of most of the things on the menu. I think the other Hawaiian places are better.
Help - Pasta in East Bay
A really good Italian place that opened recently in Berkeley is Riva Cucina on Heniz St. Everything I've had there has been great.
Food Delivery
Does anyone know of good food delivery companies in San Francisco? I want to buy a friend a gift certificate.
Furenzu in Emeryville - what to order
Everything I had was good but they are small plates. So don't do really hungry or you will be spending alot of money.
Myozen in Emeryville
It is the same people as Drunken Fish. Tons of different types of sushi. All have been pretty good. We ordered from menu and not the belt cause we didn't recognize what was on the belt. The prices seemed to be ok.
Emeryville: Anyone know when the new Cocina Poblana is opening?
We were there for dinner last night and the food was very good. I had the chicken with mushroom/spinach sauce over a rice that I think had cilantro in it. This was very good. My husband had chicken with punpkin seeds and he said his was very good. Also had the quesidillas for appetizers and these were also good. Definitely worth going back.
Need a good Thai in Berkeley TONIGHT
I go to Ruen Pair at 1045 San Pablo Ave in Albany. Everything I always order there has been very good. Plus they do, do HOT if asked.
Vietnamese on Piedmont Ave?
We went to Xyclo tonight and thought the food was great. Had the Xyclo Roll and Crispy Shrimp Roll, both were good and a little different in each way.
The Garlic Noodle I thought was good and not at all cheesy. Had good flavor but not as strong as Vanessa's.
Xyclo Ribs were different and unique. Had just enough heat to not be overbearing. My husband loved these. And he's not a rib person.
The Clay Pot was also good with alot of vegetables, which I liked but wished there was a little more rice.
For dessert, we had the Fried Banana with Coconut Ice Cream. Normally I do not like my banana fried with a egg roll wrapper but this one seemed to be ok because it wasn't overly thick.
Overall, all the food was good and rate it along the same lines as Vanessa's Bistro on Solano Ave.
Woodhouse Fish Co.
Went to WFC a week ago and had the Fried Calamari and a side of Cole Slaw. The calamari was tasteless and not at all crispy. The same with the onion rings that came with the calamari. They must have used the same batter. It's probably one of the worse calamari I've had. The cole slaw was just ok. Didn't try anything else, so not sure if the clams are any better.
Recs for lunch near SJ Museum of Art
Need some recommendations for lunch near the San Jose Museum of Art
Vanessa's Bistro and Bui
Went to Vanessa's Bistro last week on Solano Ave. and it was a great meal. We had:
Crispy Baby Back Ribs - you get 3 ribs and the flavor was good and the meat fell off the bone
Roasted Beet Salad - not Vietnamese but an excellent salad, the strawberry vinaigrette was good
Clay Pot Rice - great combination and with some crispy rice at the bottom
Garlic Noodles - one of the best I've had (only Thah Long is better), very garlicy
Jasmine Rice
With a glass of wine and a lemonade, it came to $50 (including tax). I thought this was very reasonable. We were waited by the owner's son and the service was excellent.
A few days later we went to Bui. The hostess was very nice but the service and food was not great. We waited a long time for the waiter to take our order and finally a different waiter took it. We had:
Imperial Rolls - tasteless
cup of the Noodle Soup - the broth of this soup was actually good
Fried Calamari - I don't know what part of the squid this came from but it seemed like calamari steak cut into strips
Shaken Beef - this was also not too bad
Rice
Hot Coffee - made Vietnamese style and way too sweet
Tiramisu - I don't know why this was on the menu but it was ok
Alameda - Japanese - Sushi - "Sushi House"
Time and time again, I've said to myself that I wouldn't go back. The wait (always over an hour) and the service (terrible) has been tremedous. But we still keep going back. Maybe we're a glutton for punishment but the sushi has been pretty good for a reasonable price.
Red Egg and Ginger Party
Anyone know a good place for a Red Egg & Ginger Party (prefer the East Bay)?
