Good place to buy beef? (westside L.A.)

I bought some beautiful USDA Prime spencer cut steaks from Huntington Meats. They were DELICIOUS. I highly recommend them and their grass fed beef. Definitely, will be returning here for future meat needs. Thanks everyone!

Good place to buy beef? (westside L.A.)

Anyone know a good meat market or place to purchase beef for home cooking? Specifically, I'm looking for decent bone-in cuts of steak on the westside.

Westside Indian?

Thanks for the reply. I've been there, I loved their fish but was underwhelmed by the rest of the food. Not sure if I went on an off night but it was OK overall. Maybe I'll go again.

Westside Indian?

Anyone know of a really good Indian restaurant on the westside? I've lived here for 10 years and never had much luck....

Looking for a cocktail reception venue in West LA

I'm sorry I should clarify one thing, the reception would be post dinner, (say around 9pm) so it would be later than happy hour. Would if make sense to target places that might be busy early in the evening and less busy post/ during dinner?

Looking for a cocktail reception venue in West LA

I'm looking to find a place in West LA (Santa Monica, Brentwood, Beverly Hills, Venice, Marina del Rey, Culver City) to host a casual cocktail reception for about 65 out of town friends and family the day before a Saturday wedding. Interested in having a hosted bar and desserts. Not looking to rent out an entire venue, just want a room or area where we can socialize on our own in a casual setting. Any suggestions??

Bel-Air Bar & Grill

Here to report back. My expectations were low and I wasn't let down. The food is pretty decent and it's a much bigger spot than I thought. You are right to be weary of the prices, they were high, but not shocking. I had the steak parm, 4 cheese risotto, and sautéed spinach. The steak was tasty, the risotto was delicious - not too rich, and the spinach had a excellent texture. I also tasted the meatloaf, which was very good (would order if I go back). Overall, not a bad spot, a little pricy, polite service, decent all around. However, the valet in front of the gas station was odd.

Help! Looking for an interesting bar in Seattle

I'm in town for the weekend from Los Angeles with my Fiance. Looking for an interesting place to grab a drink on the weekend in downtown Seattle. Especially interested in bars with good martinis or scotch selections. Any must-see bars for an out-of-towner?

Bel-Air Bar & Grill

I'm meeting some friends here for dinner. What do the hounds think? Menu suggestions?

What is good and interesting in and around Culver City?

I think the answer depends: lunch v. dinner

Lunch Musts:
1. K-Zo - very good Japanese/ sushi, great ambiance
2. Fraiche - mostly sandwiches for a quicker lunch but still very good (only place I listed in both categories)
3. Honey's Kettle - stick to your ribs tasty fried chicken & soul
4. Santa Maria BBQ - awesome beans and rice & BBQ tri tip
5. Brasa - reasonable priced Brazilian churrascaria, good salad bar & meats
6. Father's Office - only open Friday's and weekends, try the soft shell crab when it's in season (burgers and craft beers also a must)
7. Let's be Frank - decent quality dogs, a little pricy, super nice people
8. Cafe Brazil - authentic Brazilian, relaxed setting
9. Tender Greens - light, healthy, organic, try their hot plates if you want more substance
10. Ugo - good wholesome but not gut filling Italian, clean and healthy

Dinner Musts:
1. Fraiche - phenominal dinner menu, veal chop and blood sausage appetizer are a must, order ceviche off menu (arctic char is delicious) - this place rocks!
2. Rush Street - skip for lunch - bad service, good dinner menu, great bar
3. Bottlerock - great light faire/ cheese, go on a tasting night (good selection of beer too!)
4. Ugo wine bar - they have a debit card system to maximize tasting
5. La Dijonaise - traditional bistrot food, fairly authentic

Must Skip:
1. Akasha - bland and expensive
2. Meltdown - unremarkable but interesting concept
3. Ford's Filing Station - overpriced and not that good
4. Bamboo - there are just too many better Brazilian restaurants in Culver City
5. Pacifico's - they are confused by what type of restaurant they should be (is it fish? is it Baja Mex? is it Japanese?)

Hotel BelAir or Riviera C.C. for reception

Hi,

My fiancée and I are very serious about good food. We've lived in LA for over 8 years and have many out of town guests coming to our wedding reception. Our family and friends will be expecting a great dining experience. I'm curious if the Hounds have any opinion on Hotel BelAir v. Riviera C.C. for food, service and overall experience. After visiting both I've concluded Hotel BelAir = better food/ better service and smaller, less elegant ballroom, while Riviera = better ballroom, not as good service/ food. What do the Hounds think? Thanks!

Looking for suggestions from the experts...

Wow, you certainly hit a number of places on my list. Did you go to the L’ Oulette at 15 Place Lachambeaudie (in the 12th)? Any notable cafes you would recommend? Thank you!

Lunch around central Paris

Looking for delicious places to eat lunch anywhere around central Paris (will travel and food is the focus of my trip). Prefer prices to be at the lower end. Especially interested in: authentic/ interesting dining options and avoiding tourist traps. Thanks!

Maui - Kihei good food?

This is so funny, I was going to ask the exact same thing. I would only add suggestions for Wailea (not in a hotel). Thanks!

Best breakfast in L.A.

Went to Jack n Jill's in SM last weekend - baked good are truly bland and over-priced (had a blueberry muffin & coffee cake to go - $6), they were dry, flavorless and uninspired. I don't get it either, I would have prefered baking my own with Pillsbury premade.

Father's Office, Culver City

It is not open yet, looks like a few weeks still.

Father's Office, Culver City

Just went into the Culver City location. They're definitely opening this month. All the fixtures/ beer taps are up, just working on the finishing touches. I heard that they'll only be open for lunch Friday - Sunday. FYI: parking around there is already a zoo, it's likely to get a lot worse once the place opens...

Father's Office, Culver City

LA Times says they're opening this March. Here's a link to the article:

Pizzeria Mozza - Menu Recommendations

Looking for menu recommendations (or non-recommendations) from anyone who's eaten there. What's good/ not great?

BEST FRIED CHICKEN

Pollo Campero is a chain native to El Salvador, the Pollos there blow the LA location out of the water on juicy, crispy, tasty. I feel like its better in Salvador because of some magical frying oil that must be banned by the FDA. If you're ever in Central America you must go. Anyone who's flown Taca Airlines from San Salvador will certainly have noticed distinct smell of fried chicken emanating from all the boxes of Pollo Campero in the overhead bins...

Father's Office, Culver City

They had a number out front for hiring servers (guess that's encouraging), I've tried calling it for info on when they'll open - but no one picks up. I'm going to drive by there again tomorrow to try and get to the bottom of this mystery.

Father's Office, Culver City

Anybody have an update on this???

burritos like the mission in SF?

I like Chipotle, it may not be the world's best/ most authentic Mission burrito, but I find their chicken fajita burrito to be very tasty (and certainly Mission inspired). While I certainly respect differing opinion here, I must speak out against the constant tendancy to dislike "establishment" food for establishment's sake. I've found one of the best Chipotles to be in Marina del Rey.
