Breakfast/Brunch in SW 'burbs

Looking for a place near 95th & Cicero which serves great, not just good, breakfast. We are meeting up with a very good friend and would like a place where we will not feel rushed, and the food has got to be delicious.

Thank you.

Good Mexican in the Chicago Burbs?

There is a Mexican place on Madison Street in Forest Park which I tried and it was outstanding - kind of pricey, but the flavors make me want to come back over & over again. It's on the North side of Madison, perhaps 1 block East off Harlem. It's known for the owner saying "oh my God" at least a dozen times when he goes over the menu.

Chicagoan visiting D.C. - need rec's

We will be staying at the Grand Hyatt for a few days and need recommendations for lunch and dinner, preferably walking distance from the hotel, but public transportation is fine too. We love good food with great flavor, no seafood, and ethnic restaurants are acceptable. We are mid 30's, no kids, and again, the criteria is simply: good food.

crepes near downtown?

Not in the Loop, but Icosium Kafe is an Algerian restauranta serving both sweet and savory crepes. I just tried them over the weekend and was highly impressed by the quality and freshness of their product. The Turkish coffee is nice too.

They have locations in Lincoln Park and Andersonville.

Bruna's/ Baccanalia

Baccanalia is in a quaint neighborhood, if you can appreciate it, but I too agree that it is kind of out-of-the-way for a tourist. The food is the best Italian that I've had and you can order off-menu items. It really is outstanding, and they keep filling your water glass even after you've paid the bill. Bruna's on the other hand, has awesome dessert (Tiramisu).

Please let us know where you decide...

places to go similar to Carnivale?

I second the Cuatro rec. Excellent Mojitos. During my first visit, it reminded me of Carnivale, not so much because of the ambiance, as it is much more subdued at Cuatro, but rather because of the food - Latin fusion.

Oak Park Eats

Sorry, I think it's actually called Gepetto's - it's on Oak Park, north of the tracks.

Thanks for the Japanese rec.

Italian Restaurant on 24th & Oakley

Does anyone know the name/phone # of a restaurant located on 24th/25th & South Oakley? I hear it is devine but can't find the information that I need to call for reservations.

I believe it sounds like 'Baccanalo'

Oak Park Eats

I'm looking for some recommendations in Oak Park, preferably near Lake/Oak Park. We've tried Khyber Pass, Grape Leaves, and Gianotti's. We have no more than 1-hour for the dining experience.

Appreciate any rec's, please no chains.

Best Polish Bakeries in Chi and Best Sources For Kolachies

My fate is to find the best kolaczki and so far, Weber's is winning. Everything at Weber's is delicious, but their kolaczki's are simply spectacular!

Thoughts about Fonda Del Mar and/or Carnivale?

I recommend trying Carnivale at least once, if not for the food, then at least for the overall experience/ambiance/hype/decor. It's like none I've experienced in Chicago -- just beautiful with colors that stimulate the palate. Food is with a twist and make sure to try the delicious mojitos. This is a place that I can't wait to revisit, although depending on your crowd, it is not the intimate of places.

wildfire

I completely agree with the above. Predictable, consistent, and solid food, service, and don't forget the martinis.

Hyde Park?

Having started a new job at UCH, I too, am on the quest for good food in Hyde Park. BonJour is truly fantastic and the rugala are divine! Also, I highly recommend Cedars for Lebanese fare - service is excellent. Next door is a liquor store that has a decent selection of wine. I heard great things about the cheap thai food, i.e Snail, but haven't ventured there yet.

Need a before theater restaurant

Everest has pre-theater seating @ 5:30 for ~$60. It's pricey, but still a good deal for what they offer. I believe it is located at 440 S. LaSalle.

Burr Ridge/Willowbrook Area

I also highly recommend Courtright's. They have a fabulous wine selection, incredible service without being too stuffy, and excellent quality food.
