San Antonio Report

Just a follow up to the above post. Dined at Dough's this evening with a party of seven. Everything was wonderful as usual. Food and service is on point. It is nice to see that the quality of food has remained the same and not suffered after a couple of months of opening. Only recommendation is to arrive early on the weekends. The do not accept reservations.

I also like Dough's Pizzeria. This place is fairly new to SA and individually owned. They serve wonderful rustic style pizza and have great Italian wines. The link to the website is : www.doughpizzeria.com.

Best seafood in Port "A" and Rockport?

I checked out the website and the menu is very eclectic - much more than just seafood. The only place I've ever been in Rockport is The Boiling Pot. It was a while back and I'm not sure if it is still good.

Thanks for the info. I was not aware Lisabella's is open for lunch. Never heard of Cafe Phoenix before. I love crabcakes so this would be a good option.

Appreciate the info. I've heard Snoppy's has a good atmosphere. Ever heard of Lisabella's? I've been once before and really liked it. It is right next to the Tarpon Inn. It is expensive and you will need to bring your own wine. We were a little unprepared the first time we went and had to run to the stop-n-shop on the corner. Just in case anyone is interested the address is: 224 E. Cotter. I recommend reservations. I'm interested in trying The Wharf this time.

Thanks for the reply. I'm skeptical about the Venetian myself, but maybe one of these days I will have to check it out.

Shell's is a great place. I agree with the seating. Ever been to the Venetian Hot Plate? Never been, but heard it was good. Hoping to try something new.

Thanks for the rec. Have you ever been to Snoppy's? I think it is under the bridge. Never been, but I heard it was good.

Looking for fresh seafood in Port Aransas and Rockport, preferably boiled and not fried. Somewhere the locals go. Any ideas?

Just wanted to add to the great places to eat in SA since I'm a native. Silo's on 1064 has a wonderful and eclectic menu. Newest addition to the scene is Wildfish, and upscale seafood place with a fantastic happy hour. It is a little bit like a meat market on Thursday nights! For a good old fashion greasy hamburger try The Longhorn Cafe. They have 2 locations, Blanco and I-10.

Best Seattle Oyster Bar?

Ditto on the Brooklyn.
You might want to try Ray's Boathouse. They have a great happy hour and great views!

Cortona dinner

Just back from a trip to Tuscany. We stayed in a villa outside of Cortona and had many meals in the city. You might want to try IL Loggiato for dinner. It is in the heart of the square and dining was al fresco. For lunch, I would recommend a pizza place called Fufluns. They had by far the best white truffle risotto I have ever tasted! Atmosphere is very casual. If you are adventurous, you might want to try Canta Napoli in Camucia, a little town outside Cortona. Seafood is very fresh and brought in from Naples. Owners are friendly and said the restaurant has been in the family for several generations. Good luck and good eating!
