Best Cupcakes DC/NoVa

My top 3 are:

Cake Dreams
Bake & Wired
Crumbs

I love Georgetown's icing but I am not a fan of their cake. Cake Dreams has the best cake hands down and their selection is much better than most places. Their Smores and Banana cupcakes are TO DIE FOR!!

Quality Kid Friendly Restaurant in OC?

Hello all,

We are taking a last minute 3 night vacation to Ocean City, MD. We haven't been there in 5 years and unfortunately our favorite restaurant, Marlin Moon is no longer there.

We would love some ideas on good food at a casual kid-friendly place. Have an 11 and 3yr old. We are staying downtown so would like to stick around there but willing to drive a little for a good place. Prefer seafood.

Thanks!

Foodie bar - good food and watch football, is it possible?

Thanks all. We went to Matchbox for the first game for drinks and shared some sliders. Then drove to Bethesda and went to Mon Abi Gabi. Had a table where we could see the TV. Had a precent decent meal there. Warm Brie, Snails, and French onion soup were outstanding. 2 men got the ribeye special that they both loved. I tried a bite and it was delish. My scallop meal was average at best.. My friend got the mussels/fries app as her meal and those fries are pretty darn good. We will try Freddy's next time. Columbia is too far, especially when you are paying a babysitter!

Thanks

Foodie bar - good food and watch football, is it possible?

Heading out tomorrow sans kids with another couple. Want to watch the games but don't want to be at Buffalo Wild Wings, Caddies, Gordan Bierch etc... Looking for a more upscale, good food restaurant/bar where we can get a good meal/drinks at a bar table and watch the games. Any ideas would be appreciated. Looking in Rockville/Bethesda area. Don't want to go to Georgetown/DC.

Kid friendly restaurants at National Harbor - going this weekend.

Thanks. We are going for the Indoor Ice show/slides - staying one night overnight at Gaylord. They also have carolers, a christmas show, tree lighting, snow in the atrium, gingerbread making classes and ice skating along with a holiday outdoor shop with roasted chestnuts, handmade ornaments, hot chocolate etc... We just wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the last week of Christmas. Dining out is our main concern this weekend and now with the weather there is no way I am taking the kiddos to Alexandria. I think we will do Elevation if we go out of the hotel at all.

Kid friendly restaurants at National Harbor - going this weekend.

We are taking our 2 kids both under the age of 8 to the Gaylord for the weekend and doing all the holiday activities. We already have ressies for the Santa brunch at Gaylord but we are looking for something outside the Gaylord. Hubby and I are both foodies and the kids are well behaved and do well at nice restaurants. We have done McCormicks at other places, heard Ketchup is horrible but otherwise are clueless down there.

Any suggestions?

Anniversary dinner? Commander's, Stella's, August, or Delmonico's?

Thanks everyone. After hearing recommendations and looking at menus online, we picked Delmonico's for Friday night and Stella's for Saturday night. Can't hurt to celebrate 2 nights!

Anniversary dinner? Commander's, Stella's, August, or Delmonico's?

We are both foodies. Want a really quiet nice atmosphere (I HATE tables smushed together) We have never been to any of these restaurants.

Husband and I love seafood, steaks, sushi and the typical new orleans style food. We are not into modern/ecclectic restaurants and food.

Thanks in advance.

Last minute trip this weekend - upscale and casual suggestions needed!

Hello all,

Husband and I are heading to NOLA for a last minute extended weekend getaway for our anniversary. We met there 9 years ago and it is the first time back for both of us. We are in our mid 30's.

We are looking for a romantic upscale restaurant one night, a brunch another day and really just any suggestions for some good food - casual and/or upscale. This is last minute so I am unsure of the availability in reservations, so please take that into consideration.

We are definite foodies. Husband loves sushi, we both love seafood, steaks and all the typical NOLA food. We both LOVE wine and lots of it.

Also, we both want to watch the 2 wild card games on Sunday - any suggestions on some good fun places to watch the games and drink/eat some good casual food would be great!

Thanks!

Looking for great chow-ish places in Ocean City, MD

I will second Sunset Grill. Not the absolute best place to eat. We often stop there first for drinks before or after Marlin Moon. We did eat there once and it is great for simple seafood and sandwiches. Great marina.

Best Crabcake in DC?

I love crabcakes and I have been to many many upscale restaurants but by far my favorite cake is from Legal Seafood in Bethesda - weird huh? It has got to be about 90% real crab and their mustard sauce is so good with it. I can't believe I haven't tasted another one better. Most places have too much breading or sauce. Although, I have been to Oceanaire but have never ordered a crabcake so maybe I will try their crabcake next time I go.

Speaking of, there is a Bobby's Crabcake in Rockville. Wonder if it is any good??

The absolute best sit down meal is at Marlin Moon. Locals recommended it to us a few years back and we go there everytime we go to OC. Service is wonderful and food and wine is perfect. Their seared scallops are some of the best I have ever tasted and words can't describe their signature Mom's Shrimp appetizer. My husband raves about the tuna nachos for an appetizer and the veal chops although he frequently gets the surf and turf too. Their soups are also so good and fresh. Their wine list is superb and the desserts - yum! The last time we were there I had pineapple sorbet inside a split pineapple with drizzled raspberry sauce and whipped cream on the side. So good.

The restaurant is inside the Francis Scott Key Motel and the first time we ever pulled up, I thought we made a huge mistake. Thank goodness we didn't turn around. It is right over the bridge leaving OC by the Boarwalk, about 1/4 mile past Hoopers Crab House.

Highly recommend for those that are true foodies :)

Rockville/Bethesda place for 40th birthday party?

I want to surprise my husband with a 40th birthday party. I am looking at about 50 people and would like a fun smart casual place that has an open bar option/appetizer option per person. Looking in the Rockville/Bethesda location - hopefully very close to a hotel and near other bars to continue the festivities. Doesn't have to be top of the line - more concerned with how much fun we can have. This will be in early December so it can't be outdoors. Thanks!
