HIP COFFEE PLACE "A LA STUMPTOWN" IN THE QUARTER OR UPTOWN?

Cafe Envie on Decatur St may fit the bill.

Debate for a Foodie coming to Atlanta

It's been a while since my last trip to JCT, but I remember a nice size appetizer portion of mussels with a little cream, a little bacon (this is the South after all) and enough serrano to give some bite. Good bread on the side for sopping up the broth.

Debate for a Foodie coming to Atlanta

I think rcburli's got a great idea for your day - if you do Baccanalia and Abbatoir you could start with angry mussels at JCT Kitchen - right around the corner from Baccanalia.

Fire-roasted whole cow, and more

Am looking forward to going this year - what's the policy on alcoholic beverages?

Sam Admas Noble Pils

Strangely (and fortunately) I was in Greenville, SC this weekend and saw it at Greens beverages. Didn't exepct to see it after Alpine Spring became the seasonal for this time of year.

Sam Admas Noble Pils

Hi = has anyone seen Noble Pils in stores around Atlanta yet this year?

One dinner, one person: what would you recommend?

I had dinner at the bar at Root in December and service was excellent.

Good restaurants for solo dinner

I just spent a few days solo in New Orleans - would recommend GW Fins, Pelican Club, Root. Boucherie and Green Goddess also treated me very well at the bar but both places are fairly small.

Galatoire's Friday Lunch - what'd I do wring?

Just returned from a few days in New Orleans. As usual, I had a number of great meals. I wanted to do Friday lunch at Galatoire's (I was a single diner), so I got in line around 11, expecting to get a table downstairs and enjoy a nice relaxed lunch.

When I hit the front of theline, the hiost asked if I was on the list. When I told him no, I was informed that there were no tables available.

I thought that downstairs was first come first served?

Where to find 25 cent oysters in new orleans

I just came back from a few days in New Orleans - I did the .50 Luke happy hour oysters and the $1 ones at Bourbon House. Both were very small.

I'd suggest that you take the St Charles streetcar up to Casamento's - $11/dozen. Definitely worh the price and the trip.

Where to get Nabisco "famous chocolate wafers"?

I've found them at a few Krogers and Publix around Sandy Springs, but they aren't on cookie shelf, they're with the ice cream topings. Don't know why...

Pumpkin Pie

The Pie Hole in Roswell - they have them this week. Great people.

Please pick one place for my lunch next week, based on...

Just a heads up, the food at Heirloom is great but it's a really small place. You'll probably miss the rush at the hour ou'll get there if you're hitting the airport at 11.

Places to take Out of Town Company - Atlanta & Decatur

I'd second Farm Buirger as the best of the burger places. I've had a few good dinners at JCT kitchen on Howell Mill Rd. I alos enjoy mary Mac's, but I know it gets mixed reviews on Chowhound.

Bar-b-cue form Jax to Atlanta - Ga Pig? Jomax?

I'll be returning to Atlanta this weekend and want to stop along the way for some pulled pork - I was condsidering these two restaurants but also saw signs along Route 75 and 475 for several other bar-b-cue places.

Any opinions are greatly appreciated!

2 grad students want atl eats on grad student budgets

The Varsity serves slaw dogs - Atlanta is the only city I've visited that serves cole slaw on hot dogs. Should fit your budget too.

Help Chowsters....

I'll second the Buckhead diner reco. I think the dogs at the Varsity aren't worth it - definitely it's the scene. Atlanta has become a gourmet burger town - you may want to look at Flip Burger Boutique, Farm Burger, Yeah Burger

Atlanta with not so foodie in-laws.

Flip burger in Buckhead might be good for lunch.

Pollo Loco fish tacos

These just appeared around the Atlanta area - I don't have high hopes but am curious whether anyone has tried them yet?

Peter Chang's new restaurant

Has anyone tried the new restaurant on Powers Ferry yet? Any recommended dishes?

3 1/2 Day Itinerary... Please Critique!

ted gave you some great suggestions - you may want to take a look at abbatoir as well - I like it just a bit more thsn holeman & finch.

Where to buy Arkansas Black apples in Atlanta?

I bought some at Whole Foods a couple weeks ago.

Need recs for casual dining Sandy Springs or Buckhead

The Prodao on Roswell Road between Buckead and Sandy Springs has a number of options - 5Seasons brewing has good beer and a varied menu. There's also a taco mac (sports bar), a japanese restaurant. and a Latin grill.

Love to do appetizer tour first night in a city and need recommendations!

I'd add Green Goddess to your list, and Drago's for charbroiled oysters.

4-course at Bacchanalia or 7-course tasting at Eugene?

A couple ideas for Sunday lunch. Atlanta's gotten into gourmet bruger places - most of them pretty good - you could check menus online for Flip Burger Boutique, Yeah Burger, or Farm Burger. Or head to Decautur square (take Marta to the Decatur station) and there will be a number of places within a quarter mile - Iberian pig (Spanish), Farmstead 303 (farm to table), Farm burger, Twain's (brewpub & pool). Brick Store Pub (microbrews galore), El Tesoro (Mexican).

Minnesota State fair - any coan't misses?

I'm making my first trip to the Minnesota State Fair this year - the number of foods is a bit overwhelming. I''m hoping the Chowhound comunity can help me come up with a short list. Any things I just shouldn't miss?
