H.K. Causeway Bay, San Mateo.

Their last day was Monday 10/10. They said another Chinese restaurant was going to open there soon under new ownership.

Take out dim sum help

Thanks for the TC Pastry suggestion. I noticed that there is one in Daly City also that I assume are the same owners. Is one better then the other?

Dining in South San Francisco -- suggestions?

had the rack of lamb. i've been ordering that at sixteen mile house forever and had to test the new owners version. it was cooked to perfection. the chef came out to chit chat which was very nice and turns out he used to be the chef at house of prime rib so he knows how to cook meat. his most recent stint was at the now closed burlingame prime on burlingame ave.

Spruce in Presidio Heights

The noise level was very comfortable. We were a table of five and it was very easy to converse with everyone at our table. Loved the meal, atmosphere and service.

the best SANDWICH in (San Francisco) period.

May (14th St.) and Quincy are brother and sister. They both use the rice cookers to steam the cb and pastrami.

I second the fish and chips. I like the chips better then the garlic fries.

Need new tricks to pick up the tab

If they won't take my CC# over the phone I go by the restaurant BEFORE I pick up my dinner guests and leave them my credit card so no one can beat me to the punch when we arrive together. So far none of my guests have been able to figure out how they got my card without leaving the table.

A Tavola in Redwood City - been there recently or any reviews to share??

Had a terrible dinner there on Saturday evening. Out of our party of six all the entrees came out either cold or lukewarm. Two of the steaks were cold AND overcooked, had to send them back. One order of shortribs was a giant piece of fat and gristle, had to send that back. 2 crab cioppinos, but the restaurant had no nutcrackers or any tools to crack the crab. The crab was supposed to come cracked but none were so the crab went to waste. By then we got tired of sending stuff back, just wanted to get out of there. Just awful, stay away.

The Front Porch Opens -- (long)

We went on Thursday right when they opened. We (2 adults and two children) ordered a bucket of chicken, 8 pieces which came with two sides. The chicken was delicious but the side order of corn was one half of one cob of corn and the cole slaw was about one tablespoon for each person. Were we supposed to take a bite of corn and pass it to the next person? Very strange.

HELP -- Romantic Steak Dinner Location - This Tuesday Night!

I had a great birthday dinner and ribeye at "Town" in San Carlos on Friday on Laurel St. Great bar scene too. They even print Happy Birthday with the birthday guest's name on the menu, a nice touch and a great souvenir.

Joe DiMaggio's Steakhouse

Went last night, very nicely decorated. Rotisserie chicken was a little dry, ribeye steak was very good and the rabbit was so so. Ordered a manhatten on the rocks but got it straight up in a martini glass. Then ordered a glass of the Hess cabernet on the wine menu but received a glass of the "house" cabernet. No big deal. Service was friendly and overall a very pleasant dinner.

Jook n' Fun - Bitter Melon?

I think that you have to be over 35 to like bitter melon. As a kid and young adult I couldn't stand the taste of it. As I headed into my mid 30's I started to acquire a taste for it and now I love the stuff. Same goes for many friends of mine in the same age group.
