Thank you so much for your response!

Recs for baby-friendly dining in NOLA

We've been to Dick and Jenny's (actually with Annie), and that was great. Two places that caught my eye because of recs on this board were Cochon and Lukes.

Really? I'm surprised, we've been in baby friendly nice restaurants in both NY and DC. She's not crazy loud at all, just a normal happy baby. In both NY and DC plenty of people eat early dinners with their little ones.

Review-Cashion's, 3/22. Baby-free splurge

Thanks to the responses from here, my husband and I decided to go to Cashion's Eat Place in Adam's Morgan for our baby-free splurge night in DC.

We had made an early reservation, 6 pm, to get the most out of our free baby-sitting, so the restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived. Basically just old folks. Nonetheless the hostess was very gracious and seated us in a nice quiet table.

My husband ordered a glass of scotch and the bartender was kind enough to pour this pregnant chick a quarter glass of a nice red wine. Unfortunately, I can't remember what it was called!

As for our meal, I would give it a seven out of ten. Good, but not great.

For our appetizers, we ordered:
-Goose Egg Salad- very unusual, and a little intimidating when it first came out! Once mixed up with the greens was very tasty. Largest yolk I have ever seen!!
-Goat Cheese Souffle- amazing!! melt in your mouth goat cheesy goodness

Entrees
-husband: Duck Confit- he said very good, although crisper than most confits and not as much duck fat around the preparation as he usually likes.
-Me: stuffed lamb-- Not good! The cut of lamb was very very fatty, and not that tasty. Even my husband who loves fatty meat found it disappointing.

Dessert-
- almond custardy tart- sorry, I can't remember what this was called, but it was awesome! rich, but not too overwhelming

Overall, the service was wonderful. Our waitress let us stretch out our meal for a nice long time and was helpful without hovering. The only true miss was the lamb; everything else was very good.

seeking baby friendly, casual, moderate $ DC restaraunt that takes reserv

Hi Everyone-

Thanks for all the responses. Just to respond to some of the comments, our daughter is 9 months old, so it wasn't the food that was a concern, as much as whether baby "singing" would be appreciated. She also throws her cheerios a lot, so some places are more friendly to that than others.

For what it is worth, we ended up going to 2Amys. We had a group of eight and arrived at 5:45. It was a gorgeous friday night, and the place was packed! They told us an hour, so we went next door to that mexican restaraunt to have a drink.

What happened next was kind of annoying. My husband kept running back and forth to check on our table, and the woman said 20-30 minutes still. We decided to go back just to be safe, and five minutes later showed up at the door. The woman doing the seating looks at my husband and says, "oh, I just gave your table away." i guarantee this was no longer than five minutes after he last talked to her. It ended up being fine, she seated us five minutes later, but it seemed weird that she would say 30 minutes, then give our table away.

As for the food, it was great as always! The pizzas were phenomenal and we tried a bunch of appetizers. The family favorite was the rissoto balls--mmmm....

Thanks again for all the tips. We're moving back to DC next year, so I will keep all of these suggestions in mind for the future.

Recs for baby-friendly dining in NOLA

Hi,

My husband, my nine-month old daughter, and I will be coming to NOLA at the end of the month. We're both fairly adventurous eaters and would love some recommendations for moderately priced restarants that wont be shocked at the idea of us toting our daughter along for an early dinner. Noise is a plus, she loves to sing during dinner. As for cuisine, we're really up for anything. We both will eat almost anything. Price is a factor, as we're not looking to break the bank for either meal. We'll probably have two evenings free.

Thanks!

Thanks so much for all the suggestions! I'd thought about Clyde's, but wanted something with a little more interesting food. I will check out some of the above suggestions... thanks so much!

one baby free romantic splurge night in DC-- where would you go?

I think we were thinking splurge, rather than SPLURGE, haha. That being said, we were considering komi, but (1) we're not if we'lll get in (2) i'm pregnant, which im worried will knock some portion of the menu off limits to me. We've been to Marcel's and like it, but I think we're looking for something a little younger for this weekend. I will check out Equinox and Restaraunt Eve, but I'd think we'd rather stay in DC

Hi,

My husband and I will be in DC next weekend and would like to go somewhere interesting and romantic. Price doesn't really matter, but he is a very adventurous eater. This will be one of our few nights out without our baby, so we want to make it count! Where would you go?

hi,

I am looking for a fun, family friendly restaraunt with good food to take a group of six next weekend. I was thinking 2amys, but they dont take reservations, which would be hard with a baby. Cuisine-wise, we would be fine with anything except thai, indian, or sushi. My parents, who we will be with, are not that adventurous, but enjoy a good meal. Thanks for any suggestions!
