Need a caterer for a graduation party, but don't want leftovers I "do this for a living" but my comments, I think, apply to any caterer or catered event. If leftovers are an issue you can always ask the caterer to provide "to go" containers and send your guests home with a care package. BBQ leftovers can easily be frozen for future use. I agree with most of the posters about how you really don't want to come up short on the amount of food available. If its a budget concern, most caterers will gladly work with you to come up with a reasonably priced menu that fits your needs |

Food wise you can't do better than Sweet Basil in Needham Center. Warning: no credit cards accepted If that's too far off the highway then how about the Biltmore in Newton Upper Falls? |
|

That's it! Thanks for the quick response |

Trying to remember a Watertown restaurant that I saw a Chowhound mention for a little while back. I think it was a man's name. Relatively new place. Perhaps a return to the area after an absence? Possibly weekends only? A little help anybody? |

Has anyone been to the Nordic Lodge in Charlestown, RI? Looks like massive quantities of food, buffet style, for $88 a head. Seasonal business. April thru December Does the quality of the food justify the price? People in my business are talking of organizing a field trip to try it. Thumbs up or down? |

Have any Hounds tried Jade Garden's buffet in Arlington Heights? I went with my son once and it seemed ok to us No sushi just standard dishes but refilled frequently and a good variety of choices, no msg that I could detect |

Different party, last one was for my mom, this one for an aunt in law. (impressed you made the connection!) Most of the group that are local (some coming from out of town) are Boston, Newton or Needham Really hadn't thought of budget or menu. One idea floated had been to try to cram the crowd into our home with Bakers Best catering if that gives you any ideas. Group has been pretty open to types of food in the past. Indian, barbecue, Italian have all been options for past gatherings. Thanks for your thoughts. |

Looking for a place to have an 80th birthday celebration for fewer than 20 people, Most likely a weekend in December. Too small a group for a hall rental or to take over a restaurant for an evening. Any suggestions appreciated. |

lunch with not very adventurous mom Norwood? Any suggestions for a place for Friday lunch with Mom in the Norwood area? This will be our Mom's Day meal so a little splurge would be ok but not a place that would require reservations as the timing is somewhat open ended. My mom isn't into "spicy" so most ethnic options won't work for her tastes Thanks for your ideas |

thanks for all your suggestions. went to Fordees for chicken shawarma wrap at the suggestion of the gentleman at the counter, a chicken kabob wrap and a dozen falafel to take home which were enthusiastically enjoyed by all except my 11 year old daughter who gave it a try but decided she doesn't like falafel. |

Likely date to be Sunday dinner in June. 8 adults mostly in the 40+ age group 6 kids ranging from 10 - 15 years old 1 80 year old guest of honor. People coming from Hartford, Northampton, Foxboro, Needham areas Thanks for your suggestions |

The Blue Room Brunch Let-down 3/11/12 Had brunch at the Blue Room yesterday with a party of 9. Totally positive experience for all the diners. Ages ran 11 to 80+. Service was top notch. Attentive without being overbearing. Coffee and water glasses refilled frequently, plates cleared appropriately. Pretty much the same menu selection as the poster. Food was fresh, changed frequently and very tasty according to my group that sampled virtually every option. I'm sorry opinionatedchef had a bad experience but for what it's worth my group had a very different experience. I, and all of my dining companions, wholeheartedly (sp?) recommend the Blue Room's brunch. |

chow crawl with a teenage boy? my high school age son and I did a fun Jamaica Plain crawl a while back. We hit Fill Belly's, the El Embajador and the Purple Cactus. Too full for El Oriental and ice cream which was on the agenda. Looking for ideas for a similar night out. Perhaps Inman Square/East Cambridge/Kendall Square? Any suggestions for this crawl or some other local area would be appreciated. We eat relatively often up and down Moody St in Waltham so somewhere else would be preferred Thanks for your ideas |

Good Breakfast Place in Dedham, Norwood, Walpole Area 50's diner' is very good but cash only and long lines on weekends. If Westwood is an option Vellos on route 109 can't be beat. |

looking for a recommendation for three adults meeting up in the South End. Not looking for overly formal or the bar scene but more for good food enjoyed by three friends out for a rare night together. What's hot these days in the South End? Which restaurant has the best food consistently? Thanks for your suggestions |

chinatown suggestions with teenage boy I'm planning a winter break Boston outing with my high school freshman son next week. Any recs for Chinatown lunch? He likes chicken and black bean sauce and scallion pancakes from CK Shanghi in Wellesly for point of reference. thanks for your ideas |

I've got a rare evening to dine solo tonight. Need recs for the one meal to have before I pick up my kid late tonight. anywhere from Boston/Jamaica Plain/Cambridge/Somerville to the Rte 128 belt between Dedham and Burlington. More interested in the food experience than being trendy. Casual, jeans ok place preferred. Thanks for your help. |

Thanks for your feedback, I obviously wasn't specific enough nor did I leave enough time for proper feedback. I was in the Fort Point part of South Boston by the way. I ended up driving around Broadway and Dorchester Ave a bit but nothing caught my eye so I ended up crossing the highway and getting a pastrami dog at Speed's Good stuff but I don't get many chances at trying out new neighborhoods for lunch. What and where should my lunch have been today? |
