Coming Soon to Calgary: loungeburger?
Hey guys,
I went here last Saturday night and it was pretty solid! I was suspicious from the trendy name; i.e. I usually don't find yummies at "Lounge" establishments, but the kobe beef burger was quite moist and salty-good. The yam fries were perfectly crispy.
My only complaint is the the bun was a bit dry and lacking the texture/chewyness that I personally think can make or break a burger. (and I can still make a better patty at home). So this place gets 3 stars, because it was tasty, but I won't make an effort to go back.
Steak in Calgary???
Hey there,
Having toured many of the slaughterhouses around Calgary / High river, I can tell you that not all grocers get their meat from the same place.
I enjoy supporting small local businesses, and I get wonderful steaks, roasts, and chops at Calgary Meats (edmonton Trail). The prices end up being about the same as Safeway but much better quality.
If you are more of a grocery store person, the slaughterhouse head-ups claim that Sobeys sells the best beef steaks in god-fearin Alabertia; I think the brand is Sterling Silver.
What are good places for a bite to eat in Red Deer?
I had onyl one very food bad experience at the Rusty Pelican and would not recommend it! The ahi tuna was very old and seemingly sliced days ago (e.g. dry, crackled appearance) with very pungent fishy odor. I'm no food snob but I had to send it- and the portabella mushrooms dish- back. When I did, the manager came over to tell me that that is just "how tuna is". Mmmhmmm....
I've heard Redstone is good as well. Wish I'd read sleepycat and retroville's comments before going to the Pelican.
