Diet Breakfast

thanx i guess ive already started to loose some pounds, we do at least 3 days of 5k or 8k walking, in general we are strict walking 5 days a week...i walked and walked, and it didnt seem i was loosing pounds, now ive notisably lowered my carb and meat intake, and boosted my vegetable and fruit intake a lot!...

im not doing any weights, because i read that is burnt faster by walking .....

im happy you guys are helping!=-)

Pad Thai--is it an authentically Thai dish?

looking nice! next time ill take a pic on our pad thai...

it seems that pad thai is not a ONE RECIPE plate...every time we cook pad Thai it seems it gets better, but it always looks different...

for example last night we dide simple pad thai

boiled tamarind, got the seeds out, then threw a bag of mixed seafood (the good one, not the crappy sea food bags), let them defreeze with the tamarind, add fish sauce!, then added 3 little chillies, half a bag of frozen vegetales, little salt and 4 spoons of black sugar....

it was a bit watery so we added a bit of coconut milk (very very tillte less than a spoon) added tahini (cause it was there, and otherwise would have gone to the trash) some penut butter, then mixed and let cook......
for .90 cents we found very very thin rice noodles (recomended, they were great), put them in hot water for 10 minutes (not boiling)

mix well, scallions, beensprouts, lemon! and we ate!!! it was so nice!!! with whit rice

is that pad thai?...is it authentic?, i doubt it....i called it pad thai, is it enough? lol....

Deep frying with Canola Oil

correction, i just looked for the trans fast content in the oil i have...it says 0%

im not sure how absolute is 0% in the oil industry...hehe

Guineo Verde (green bananas)- Source?

lol

i dont think it makes a difference if i freeze them....they will hold up...but yeah let me know...cause im not really sure how many guineos i can fit into a foam cooler...and it could get real expensive..but yeah doing pasteles in arkansas has a price...lol

about freezing them i had some in my cooler (not Fridge) for 1 week and they didnt turn yellow at all..watever if i send express it should be there in 1 day...

Deep frying with Canola Oil

i read that cannola, before being used for cooking was actually for machinery...plz read into it, dont recall how it became good for people.

i like canola because its cheap, it does have some trans fat, but its very very very low......you should not use oil to deep fry to many times, your oil will saturate and be nasty..

can someon tell me the difference between saturated fat in oil and transfat...it doesn't seem like the same thing...

Diet Breakfast

knowing how to measure and calorie value of my portions seems to be the "golden rule"

knowledge is power

Diet Breakfast

thanx for the advise, currently i dont have an oven..well actually the oven is there, it just doesnt work..lol

i have many puertorican cook books.....i was thinking of vegeterian cook books..ive been visiting a place called "Veggie Garden" here in Puerto Rico, and find the food so delicious! and its vegetarian!~ i hated vegetables before i started on sushi 4 years ago, after that i didn't really think a vegetarian lifestyle could be delicious, but that place made me think! its so damn nice!

Diet Breakfast

i agree, what good is a diet you cant follow as a lifestyle....im not ditching her yet, but i need to write down mush info i need to ask her, like her take on artificial stuff...and things like that...

right now im guessing doing 6 meals a day is very good, and ive eaten everything i do, but with consiousness on the quantity..
my vision of quantity was very off...3oz of meat vs 9oz, and 1cup of rice vs 3 to 4 depending the goodness

thanx! i need to start learning on how i could actually know how many calories im taking daily....

Guineo Verde (green bananas)- Source?

i dont really know.... a lot,i guess
but you still need plantain leaf....plz dont just use paper....

Guineo Verde (green bananas)- Source?

=-(

Diet Breakfast

THANX! it does help! well im overweight around 40 pounds, i dont have anything wrong yet...but i dont want to catch something becuase i was irresponsible with myself...

now at 25 i want to give time to myself, people me included dont give time to themeselves...because of the hecktic lifestyle our society is pretending we defend....im tired of being robbed of my money by my goverment and tired of being robbed of my time by the fast food fast fast population that keeps getting dummer with each newborn brought to life.

Guineo Verde (green bananas)- Source?

Guineo Verde (green bananas)- Source?

Pad Thai--is it an authentically Thai dish?

you making me wok around with hunger!

Diet Breakfast

yep, its required by the nutrisionist...i guess shes exagerated, but what can keep

Diet Breakfast

exaclty...im really picky about food...dont eat fast food, becuase i hate quemicals..dont really buy organic, but there are things that logically are quemical, like articial flavor, splenda! i hate splenda, crap! stevia for me plz...even that !!! want brown sugar!

Guineo Verde (green bananas)- Source?

actully puertorican food uses both....depends what you want to do...for example

green banana is used ot make

alcapurria - a fritter that uses banana and "Yautia" filled with meat
Guineitos en escabeche - vinagrete style guienos...
Guineitos hervidos - boiled, they are so nice

plantain is mostly for tostones, mofongos, platanutres, bollitas de platano (this is so good, its like little puree plantain mad into compresed balls, great for soups!)

simple toston recipe: (my grandmother style, the best in the world)

slice into 1 inch thick or maybe a little less, soak in salted water for like 8 minutes, fry but not to much, then again throw into salt water for a 3 minutes, again fry.......carefull you guys know what happens with sald water and very very hot oil....

Diet Breakfast

Hello dudes,

Right now im on a nutrisionist diet (2500 calories a day), which makes me eat 6 times a day, i feel full, but not happy. full because i eat plenty and many times, but its not what i was used to, 3 big carb meals (example. cheesey chicken spaghety with white rice, lol, tastes great!).

Heres what i need on a breakfast

CARB - 2 faces of whole wheat bread ( i love healthy choices 7 grain) or 1 1/4 cup of high fiber cereal or 2 small pancakes...things like that

FRUIT - 3/4 cup of blueberries or 8 strawberrys or 15 green seedless grapes or a small apple, or 1 orange, 2 spoons of raisins....

Milk family - 8oz of fatless milk or 6oz fatless yogurt or 8oz "Light and fit" yogurt or 2oz of regular milk

MEAT/PROTEIN - 3 turkey ham slices (no fat), or 3 swiss cheese (the nasty fatless one, atificial! i hate that mother!) or 1 egg with 1 slice of ham and 1 nasty cheese slice, or 1 1/2 ham with 1 1/2 cheese

FAT- (cooking purposes) 2 spoons of olive oil, or 2 canola or light margarine.....

Liquid - coffee water cristal light.....no juice

Note: i cant do sugar at all.......

So you now know why i feel no hunger, but i dont really enjoy my food, its not like my old 3 to 4 egg ommelette with cremini mushroom honey ham lots of nice creamy cheese, bell peppers onion and Pancakes with little bleuberries insides and strawberrys drenched in maple with nicely done bacon (not too hard, not soft)!!!!

ive been changing my habbits to correct my wrong methods, before i get to my 30's (im 26 on march) because we all know metabolysm is somethig to respect......

i dont feel hungry just not happy with the food.....2 breakfast ago i did pancakes, and it was such a frustration because it seemed so thin and tasteless, plus the quantity was small in comparison to just eating everything separate.....

it seem i eat with my eyes first....

my girl told me she read people that eat too many carbs get addicted, their bodys ask for it like addicts

Pad Thai--is it an authentically Thai dish?

you must be right...i on the other hand dont wok my pad thai.....mostly because i dont have a wok...=-)

how would a wok react on electrical stove...the same?

Guineo Verde (green bananas)- Source?

wow...i could get you some from la plaza de rio piedras, even from some farm around....can i ship you bananas without getting in trouble?

i could buy really hard and green, and send overnight with price tag....but youll have to wait till next Miercoles when i get paid...

Pad Thai--is it an authentically Thai dish?

i get it....but isnt there a difference between cooking with the spice inside? it gets fused instead of just mixed in...you know?

Pad Thai--is it an authentically Thai dish?

ive seen a couple of youtubes about the pad thai....it seems they serve fresh vegies on top...

another thing, is i cant understand why i would put the spice on the side, since the pad thai should at least be tinny bit spicy....i would guess that what would be refered to as "spice on the side"

scallions and bean sprouts are added when serving or maybe at the end of cooking, for fresh vegie crunch

P.S. ok that photo link looks awsome.......it looks like the noodle is transparent....the only noodle ive seen like that is the bean base noodle....

What to drink while I'm in detox??

how about...

Ginger ale virgin "MOJITO"

ive seen mojito done with sprite or perier....but without the alcohol factor, ginger ale may have that spice they lack...

remember REAL mojito doesn't use MINT it has "Yerba Buena"...many times confused, even in supermarket products...it pisses me off!

if you need detox, buy fresh cranberry, and make a juice, concentrate...youll get clean in no time
